Thomas Bayes was born in a prominent Nonconformist family in Sheffield that located around the north of England. Before Thomas was born, his family already famous in the cutlery industry. Richard Bayes (1596–1677), the great-grandfather of Thomas Bayes, was a good and successful cutler in town. In 1643, Richard Bayes was in the position of serving the Master of the Company of Cutlers of Hallamshire. The company that Richard Bayes served had authority over the cutlery industry for the area in Sheffield. Richard Bayes was successfully sent his elder son, Samuel Bayes (1635–1681), to Trinity College Cambridge during the Commonwealth time and Samuel has get completed his degree in 1656. Joshua Bayes and two of his son in-law was closely involved in the contribution of chapel in the different place in Sheffield. One of the sons-in-law, Elias Wordsworth was the founder of this second chapel and his another son in-law which is John de la Rose was the minister of the chapel. In 1686, Joshua Bayes entered to a Dissenting academy to studied philosophy and divinity which located in the north of England, this academy had been established by Richard Frankland, who had been kick out from a curacy in the Church of England in 1662. Due to government sanctioned religious persecution, the academy had changed locations four times over different country and one of the place is near Sheffield. Bayes completed his studies in Frankland academy in 1694 and went to London where he was among the first group of Presbyterians in London to be ordained publicly to the ministry. In 1706, Bayes became the assistant minister at St. Thomas’ Street Chapel in the London. He also served as an assistant at the Leather Lane Chapel in Hatton Garden, London. Government is a controversial topic. Both Paul Revere and Thomas Paine foretells the pros and cons of the existing government system. Paul Revere portrays his opinion on government with an artwork of the Boston Massacre, “The Bloody Massacre in King Street,” stating that government is bad and negative to exist. Thomas Paine, on the other hand, portrays his opinion with a pamphlet, stating that the government is a necessity, but could also be altered for the well-being of the society. These two documents, although discrete, reveals their own separate opinions on government systems.
Henry was born on May 29, 1736 in Studley in Hanover County, Virginia (Red Hill). His father John Henry was a Scottish – born planter. His dad educated young Patrick at home, including teaching him to read Latin, but Patrick studied law on his own (History). His mother Sarah Winston Syme was a young widow from a prominent gentrys family (Red Hill). Henry attended a local school for a few years and received the remainder of his education from his father who had attended Kings College in Abedeen.

Vavasor Powell (1617-1670) Puritan preacher, author, and soldier, was born at Knucklas (Welsh Cnwclas, ‘Green Hill’) Radnorshire, modern Powys. His father was Richard Powell, his mother was Penelope, daughter of William Vavasor of Newtown, Morrice has her originally coming from Yorkshire, before settling in Wales. He was an ardent evangelist and preached in many places around Wales. He once denounced Cromwell by saying “Lord, wilt thou have Oliver Cromwell or Jesus Christ to reign over us?”
During the Antebellum Era, slavery was about one-third of the South’s population. The Antebellum Era was the period before the Civil War broke out. The South’s economy was booming which was credited to slavery. Their argument about slavery was that slaves were necessary and important to their economy. It would kill their economy if they got rid of slavery. Slavery was the foundation of their economy. Without any slaves, cotton would not be able to be produce. Nearly 60 % of their exports was cotton. Southerners would also point out that slaves were better working in plantations than working in a northern factory. According to them, the North had bad workplaces and long hours. They insisted that slaves were cared for and helped when they needed it unlike the North. The Declaration of Independence was and still is the basis for what the country is established on. July 4th of 1776, Thomas Jefferson, one of the founding fathers of the United States was chosen to draft the Declaration of Independence. His purpose was to persuade the colonists of the thirteen colonies to break away from England. The first lines of Thomas Paine’s “Of Myth and Miracle” state, “Every national church or religion has established itself by pretending some special mission from God, communicated to certain individuals” (Paine, “Of Myth” 352). Paine’s apparent goal is to prove that organized religion is a sham, and this theme is present throughout his entire work. Although “Of Myth and Miracle” emerged over 200 years ago, this work remains relevant because of the ever-present problem that is religion. His burial was very awful. Paines beliefs in religion was different from other people. That belief caused him to create a book the age of reason.

The poem of Sir Patrick Spence is a ballad from Scotland originating around the fourteenth century (“Origins”). Like most ballads the author of Sir Patrick Spence is unknown. One other thing that this poem has in common with many other ballads of early Europe their are no historical records of a person called Sir Patrick Spence. Since this many historians have come to believe that the poem is based loosely on Sir Patrick Vans, that was sent by King James VI to retrieve his new wife Anne of Denmark (“Origins”).
In literature, novels often have a main protagonist, and assisting side characters. These characters are created to support the main character, and allow the reader to have a deeper understanding of the protagonist’s role in the novel. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, secondary characters are utilized to help build up the main protagonist, Jay Gatsby. Through the contrasting behaviors of characters Tom and Daisy, Gatsby’s integrity is accentuated. Tom and Daisy’s superficiality and materialism make Gatsby’s personality look more reputable.

A widely known Hispanic doctor, by the name of Dr. Edwin DeJesus, works in Orlando, FL preventing and treating infectious diseases. Dr. DeJesus has shaped Florida by working with many organizations and making several improvements in the medical industry. The lives of many have been positively changed due to his work.
