John Taylor Gatto, who was a teacher at the public school for twenty-six years, and the writer of the essay “Against School” that first appeared in Harper’s magazine in 2001, censures and blames the American public school’s educational system in his argumentative essay with various convincible supporting ideas. Gatto argues that the demands of public education system’s schooling are essential problems in “Against School”. Gatto shows some positive examples of the educating without forced schooling and shows models of the ‘success without forced modern schooling’. The Whigs' Lack of Political Success in the Period 1783-1815 There are a number if contributing factors, both long and short term that led to the downfall of the Whig party in the years 1783-1815. Firstly, the Whig party itself had alienated themselves from the King, George III. Unlike Pitt, whose success derived directly from the Kings favour, the Whigs had continued to express their views against royal patronage. The Whigs believed the power of the monarch should be reduced and made no attempt to hide their ambitions, during the regency crisis, that the King would not recover. The Whigs had hoped with the King replaced by the Prince of Wales they would soon be propelled into office.
Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, the American educational system has undergone much transition in response to our changing society. Though there have been many problems raised throughout the years in regard to what our school systems should be teaching our children, there have also been many developments.

Comparing Tories and the Whigs in 18th Century Politics It is possible to speak of political parties in the period 1789 to 1830. Indeed political parties existed before 1789 but were further established at the beginning of this period when they became divided over certain issues; the monarchy, the war, taxation. The differences between the two parties became clearer as this period goes on. Political parties i.e. Tories and Whigs existed from the 1670s when they were used to describe the views of those for and against the exclusion of Charles II's catholic brother James II, from legitimate succession to the throne[1]. The Whigs stressed the institution of parliament as a necessary brake on royal power; the Tories implied a defence of the established institutions and in particular, those of the monarchy.
Many of the issues faced in the 20th century are also faced today. In June of 1897 Walter Page wrote, “The Forgotten Man” which addresses the difference of education between the North and the South and even more importantly the misleading separate but equal facade that black education was equal to white education. The fact was education was funded differently in 1900 by racial and gender lines. People were the undeveloped resource and a new education system had to be created in order to tap into this resource (Page,Rose, 140). The new education system that was praised is what we know today as the Public School System.
