What would a computer be like if the web browser was never created? What would the internet be like? What would the internet be used for without a way to browse it? The first web browser was developed by Tim Berners-Lee in the year 1991. It was called the WorldWideWeb. The second browser was developed by Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina in 1993. This browser was called the NCSA Mosaic and featured integrated graphics, something browsers didn’t have at the time that had an effect on all the browsers that came after it.
If there wasn’t a web browser then the internet would be incredibly different. I use the internet every day. Many people are sadly addicted to the internet. People who are addicted to the internet sometimes kill and steal to get money to pay for internet or subscriptions to play games. I can recall many stories of how people died from not eating or drinking or sleeping to play a game nonstop for a marathon or to beat it in the fastest time. How people can be that addicted to the internet or games is beyond me.
The most popular web browser was then Internet Explorer, but its popularity is falling and the two most used browsers other than IE are now Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. There are others out there that are good browsers, like Opera, they just aren’t well known. I dislike IE and always use Chrome nowadays. My dad still supports Internet Explorer though.

Other than how this book personally encouraged me and discouraged me, it was eye opening to see such a coincidence of birthdates among all-star hockey players and how Bill Gates just happened to be born in the wake of computer technology.

In 1994, Marc Anderseen invented a new way to search and retrieve information from the Internet: the Netscape Navigator. Netscape’s rising sales and the phenomenal growth of the Internet make its shares go through the roof and even before the Company had any profit; it was valued at $2.7 billion. However, the scenario didn’t go that well for so long and a very powerful and ambitious man came into the picture. Bill Gates put 2,000 of his best programmers to create a browser of his own: The Explorer. The battle of the browsers officially started; Microsoft’s share of the browser market increased from 2.9 percent at the end of 1995 to more than 40 percent by the end of 1997, while Netscape’s market share fell to 54 percent.
The internet has developed into the go to source for communication, finding information, and entertainment. People look for the best way to use it and to get the most out of it. Browsers are programs that bring the World Wide Web to people on a variety of different devices. These platforms for exploring the internet have become more and more advanced as we make progress in the world of technology. They have to keep up to make sure they meet society’s demands and preferences. Two of the biggest browsers today are Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. They both bring the best that browsers have to offer.

He has multiple accomplishments, even from a young age. For example “he taught himself to code and made his first program sale at the age of 12”. Although his first sale was only equivalent to $500, it is still a huge accomplishment that paved the way for his success. (Elon Musk Biography). “In February 1999 he sold Zip2 to Compaq, the personal computer company for $307 Million”(Dana Hull Bloomberg). Also he helped create PayPal, although he was outed as CEO in 2000. He is a multi-billionaire, having a networth of approximately $15.3

In Greg Beato’s article “Internet Addiction” originally published in august, september 2010 in to Reason magazine he argues that internet addiction is a problem in our society today. Internet addiction should be reported in the Diagnostic and statistic manual of mental disorder (DSM). It is a huge problem, he also says that internet is like narcotic drugs and very addicting. He states that if ones use Google for few minutes only it leads us to spend more than a few minutes on the internet and it turns in to spending hours. Beato refers that University of Maryland did a group study for 24 hour and all the students went crazy without their phones and iPods, one girl admitted that she is an addict. The students were anxious and miserable. He also says that one kid killed his parents because they took away his Xbox. Internet also leads to death of people, therefore it is a problem and we should put it on to the DSM.
One argument is that the internet is not the addiction, but is a medium to the addiction. The other argument is that the internet itself is the addictive substance. The argument that has the most support and is more believable in the research that it does is that the internet itself is the addiction. This makes sense for multiple reasons. One of the reasons is that some of the addictions on the internet are not possible to be addicted to without the internet. Another reason is that people also need information, and people can get addicted to the internet because they want the information. These are only some of the reasons why the internet should be considered an addictive substance. It is also important to know the difference between being addicted to the internet and being addicted to something on the internet. According to an article written in 2012 titled Internet addiction: how to fight it, it is two different ideas to be addicted to the internet and to be addicted to things such as online gambling and online sex. These differences are another part of why internet addiction is a real thing and not just a
A lot of research has gone into understanding the real impacts of technology in people’s lives. The impact of Internet on our life becomes more and more significant and undeniable. Life without Internet is definitely very troublesome and inconvenient. However some do think that this technology is more of a nuisance than useful. Even more complaints have come forward about the Internet disrupting humanity. Over the last two decades people have seen time and again complaints from parents that their children play video games 24/7 or relationships that have been ruined because of a partners inability to use technology in moderation (i.e. Technological addictions). Technological addictions are categorized under behavioral addictions and involve human-technology interaction. They can be passive (e.g. television) or active (e.g. computer games) Internet Addiction does have the core components of any addiction and will be expounded on in this
There are many effects when it comes to the obsessive use of the Internet such as affecting one’s health, mental well-being and even their relationships with others. This shows that Internet addiction not only affects one adversely, but everyone else around the user as well.
In the developing world with the raising rate of the internet user, the internet has been becoming an inseparable part of people’s lives. As the internet is concerned with its side effects in the lives, it deprives them of their possessions like good relationship with others, creativity skill and the time that they have, and makes them have psychological illness like social-phobia and depression. In fact, it endangers their privacy. Therefore, people should be aware of the threads of the internet. Even though the internet seem to be beneficial, it can be the source of crucial issues in people’s lives.
Term Paper: The History of the Internet The Internet began like most things in our society, that is to say that the government started it. The Internet started out as an experimental military network in the 1960s. Doug Engelbart prototypes an "Online System" (NLS) which does hypertext browsing, editing, email, and so on. The Internet is a worldwide broadcasting resource used for distributing information and a source for interaction between people on their computers. In 1973, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) initiated a research program to investigate techniques and technologies for interlinking packet networks of various kinds.
In the modern world internet access is a vital part of everyday life. It is important for education, and is a necessary skill for those entering the job markets of today. The internet is highly entertaining and informative. These qualities make the internet an attractive escape from the stress of everyday life. People can enter a different world and make the problems of the real world disappear. Anything is possible on the internet. Internet addiction has the same symptoms as an addition to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, or caffeine. When someone becomes addicted to the internet they will have increasing tolerance to the amount of time they spend online, withdrawal, mood changes between when online and off, and there will be an interruption of social relationships and activities. People with an addiction will need more time online to be happy. When access to the internet is not available people will show signs of anxiety, depression, irritability, trembling hands, and restlessness.
There are many causes for people are addicting on the computer. First of all, students have free access to the Internet and easily available at most schools’ computer lab. Because it is free and most school provide an e-mail account and have no limit the amount of time for student to log on. Second, anyone who addicts to Internet has a bigger problem with social life; especially, people who are easily bored, lonely, shy, relationship problem, lake of self-confidence and low self-esteem. They may rely on the computer screen to solve personal problems or meet their needs for companionship. However to ignore what cause people to addict on the computers, the endless new connections are that draws addicts to all of us.
