The Walk Poem Diction

Have you ever had a weird moment in life, with your friends or family, well in “CJ Aboody's” The Walk we see tons of these relatable moments he shows us and uses imagery, metaphors, rhyme, and tone to tell a very relatable story. This story is being told when he just turned 12, he was walking with his family on a trail at night, then something felt wrong, something felt like there were no people in sight, something was watching them, but it was not what it seemed. When we look at the poem we see that the main idea is that not everything is trying to get you in life, we can see this in the poem in the third stanza, we see that it is described as a beast with dark fur and decent sized teeth, this leads the readers to believe it is something big …show more content…

seuss it sounds almost like it is a child's poem and sounds very simple, but when you read it slowly it sounds scary and sounds like we encountered something like a wolf or a big animal that could harm us, but this only happens because of the tone of the way we read it. the poem is written, if it was written in different calmer words it would not be as weird and would not sound as convincing. this also causes us to use the imagery in our minds to imagine a big bad wolf and instantly become scared of what is going to happen, like is he going to have to fight off the animal or are they all going to have to run away and try and survive this, but instead, we find out that we think big and bad because we usually expect the worst and expect things like Murphy's General. Laws(everything that could go bad will). This also relates to the tone because we see the story differently if expect that something bad is going to happen going into this it will seem bad and we will look at it as if that is the only outcome to the end of that poem and makes us not expect it to have a different …show more content…

a wolf or a big furry or a bear because the author chose to use words like decent sized. After all, the animal does not have massive teeth like a bear or a wolf, it just has normal-sized teeth, or looking at the family they can be looked at as cowards or as smart humans for running from danger when told, the main character can look at in two ways also as an idiot for staying by a creature in the middle of the night, or can look at as a brave human for standing up and finding out what it is and what is there for. When we look at this poem we see the main one (sometimes the things we think are big are really small) but there are tons of other ones like bravery, the main character stands up in the pitch black to a mysterious creature to make sure they all are
