Have you ever wondered what the difference between living and surviving is? I certainly have. Human life is a fragile thing that most of us take for granted. In North America life is significantly more illustrious and enjoyable. Living is quite different from surviving, as I have taken years to discover. Living is being able to feel the world around us, being able to connect with people and not have to cower in fear. Just because we have breath in our bodies and blood pumping through our veins, does not guarantee you are living. In most of our lives we have young kids who are not quite sure how to work themselves into the grand scheme of agony we call life. The folks who are more elderly hold knowledge of things that have passed and can tell us how to make up for our extremely human errors. Our neighbours are not just the people who live next to us; in fact they are the people all around us and the trials they have faced change how they view life. Life, it is a valuable and precious thing, but it’s learning how to live that takes time accomplish. Surviving is usually a natural human skill that we recieved at birth. Surviving may mean having another day to see a sunrise but living to cry out in joy as the sun lazily rolls into the sky is just as staggering. Children have the ability to do either, they can see the wonder in almost anything.
Children are never sure where they fit into the world unless we give them the assurance that they will find out. When a child is living you can see the light in their eyes as they look with everything the world has to offer with wonder. When they survive but love is miniscule and hard to come by in their lives, their eyes loose their gleam and while they see the world they do not notice the wond...

...ven something to live for, having a joyful spirit can conquer many trials and surviving helps them to live on. The elderly in our world hold many secrets of life and we must show them that we care so they can continue to share the errors of human ways and as they survive we can hope they stay with us. Our neighbours have evidently faced many problematic ordeals and we need to love them as Christ loved us so the spark in their eyes from hearing about love will fill their whole lives. We must keep them surviving so Jesus can have a chance to override their lives. Living is a joy as it fills our lives and souls but sometimes we are just hanging onto our lives in this world, coasting along without thought. If you can figure out the difference of living and surviving, it will transform your life. Are you living, or are you just a survivor of the tragic place we populate?

People take too much for granted in a place of hope, privileges, and freedom while war drags on in another country, ten thousand miles away. The appreciation of youthful innocence is thus juxtaposed with selfishness and an inability to be satisfied, which seems to create a double tone that creates a contrast about the reality of humanity. Sometimes we can never be content with what we have until something is lost or sacrificed. In youth and innocence, satisfaction and the appreciation of the world around us seem to come more easily, perhaps because life has not yet been tainted by greed. It may be part of human nature that, as one grows, his desires become more complex and thus more difficult to satiate.

It is an essential read for all who have plans to enter the field of education. Those of us who aspire to shape the minds of the future need to be aware that all children possess the ability to love and prosper despite whatever environment they have emerged from. It is our duty to provide all children, without regard to race or economic status, with the tools and opportunities they require in order to flourish and lead the satisfying lives that they so greatly desire and deserve.

However, children do not degenerate by themselves; rather they are not spoiled till those of influential stature in the eyes of the children sink in to the corruption of favoritism. Even though times have changed, this corruption present in “Why I Live at the P.O” is analogous to what favoritism is today. In the modern world, partiality towards a certain child usually comes from strong feelings of love that bury themselves in an prominent figure’s mind and subconsciously spoil the child. This irony, that amplified love actually causes one to suffer later in life, depicts the broader issue that by getting one used to an imaginary life where all desires are fulfilled, he or she cannot accept the fact of human nature that, outside the household, people are indifferent to another person’s wishes.
All through the times of the intense expectation, overwhelming sadness, and inspiring hope in this novel comes a feeling of relief in knowing that this family will make it through the wearisome times with triumph in their faces. The relationships that the mother shares with her children and parents are what save her from despair and ruin, and these relationships are the key to any and all families emerging from the depths of darkness into the fresh air of hope and happiness.
Naomi Shihab Nye’s poem “One Boy Told Me” uses the innocence and imagination of a young child to convey important life messages to adults. The sense of wonder and “not taking things to seriously” in the poem captures the way children look at the world. Her poem includes stylistic choices that reflect the way a child would talk and think, including anthropomorphism and repetition, which makes the poem all the more believable and relatable. While many phrases in the poem are humorous in their apparent nonsense, they contain important pieces of childlike wisdom.
I have elected to analyze seven poems spoken by a child to its parent. Despite a wide variety of sentiments, all share one theme: the deep and complicated love between child and parent.
Through love we can see that an everlasting relationship can be built. While reading this poem, the reader starts to feel a growing connection to the mother, father, and child line by line. By the end of it, one may feel as though they are so closely connected, that they can see themselves as the characters in the story. This poem speaks the truth about a relationship that is universal for any human
In societies across the world it is clear that many children never have a ‘childhood naivety’ due to events, circumstance or even people in their lives. I have chosen to explore the theme “the tragic premature loss of childhood innocence.” We are shown this theme in the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the film My Sister’s Keeper directed by Nick Cassavetes, the film Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle and the novel Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian.
‘Das Leben der Anderen’ (The Lives of Others) is a striking example of how a director can convey narrative links within a film by employing various styles and film techniques. The Lives of Others relies upon these visual means to assist with the telling of the story as much as it relies upon the script. In this selected sequence of the film, several narrative links are drawn here to form the conclusion of ‘Operation Lazlo’. These narrative links are further cemented by Donnersmarck’s use of various lighting styles, diegtic and non-diegtic sound, revealing camera shots and intricate mise-en-scene.
Peter Pan never wanted to grow up, for he always wanted to be a boy and have fun. On the other hand, the general argument made by author, Anne Sexton, in her poem, “The Fury of Overshoes,” is that childhood is most appreciated when a person must be independent. A university student finds that he can relate to the speaker. The high school student, still a child himself, will feel the same as the speaker in her youth. A college student and a high school student reading this poem would conclude this poem with different feelings.
For ages, humanity has wrestled with the idea of life, along with one’s privileges and rights. Through old and ancient civilizations humanity has learned to create and maintain an perfect utopia. But even to the most advanced civilizations that we have encountered, how much do they think we are worth? Could they even begin to express the value behind a person and his/her life? How would it be measured? Would humans be priced by the elements they’re composed of? Would it be measured by a person’s health and life expectancy? How about traits, how would those be put into account? Would a person who is fit to work in rigorous places be worth more than a person who is tech savvy? All these questions will need to be addressed. No one is the same. The fact that some many people have strived in order to receive what one deserves. Not everyone makes the same amount of money. Some people work more, and others work less. Some make more and others make less, no one is worth the same price because no one in this world is the same as the next. I agree with how life insurance works because if one can afford it due to the fact that one has worked hard enough to get the money one need to pay for it. It is thought that everyone should be labeled the same price because everyone is human and inside everyone is the same, but that is not the case no one is exactly like the other. By someone earning more income in life than the others, that shows that on the outside they've lived all totally separate lives and therefore need the different amounts of money when a loved one passes. The fact that everyone is different gives society a reason to put a monetary value on people.

The author uses imagery, contrasting diction, tones, and symbols in the poem to show two very different sides of the parent-child relationship. The poem’s theme is that even though parents and teenagers may have their disagreements, there is still an underlying love that binds the family together and helps them bridge their gap that is between them.
Children live in a world designed for them by adults. The two cultures, child’s culture and adult’s culture exist side-by-side. As the children eventually mature into the adult world, they grow up learning the structure of what is expected of them. As children challenge the authority or expectations, they are battling the construction that was predetermined by the adults. Children have to live in a world where they are living in the structure, as well as being active agents. The two combating ideas are one component that makes growing up a difficult learning experience.
In the eyes of a child, there is joy, there is laughter. But as time ages us, as soon as we flowered and became grown-ups the child inside us all fades that we forget that once, we were a child.
