This study has purposes to find out the imagery that using in poem Tamerlane by Edgar Allan Poe. On the other words, this study focus to analyze the imagery that use in the poem Tamerlane. Besides, the imagery that found in this study also by means of giving meaning process. On the other words, the process of imagery analysis continuous with the giving meaning process.
This study using Ricoeur’s Hermeneutic. According to Ricoeur 1981 (as cited in Tan, 2009) explained that the process of interpretation consist of four steps, they are concept of distanciation (slef-understanding of the text or data), appropriation (appropriating process between the process of distanciation and appropriation), explanation (the describing process of the text or data), and interpretation (the interpretation process of the data).
