The Town that Loves Chicken
The part of Pennsylvania, where Fredericksburg lies is known as PA Dutch country USA (PA Towns 1). In this small town of Fredericksburg lies three chicken plants. When you’re anywhere in the town, you could walk to any of the three chicken plants within five minutes. This could be why Fredericksburg takes chicken so seriously. At Bell and Evans Airport in Fredericksburg , which is owned by a chicken plant, there is an annual festival that is anticipated each year by most all the locals. This festival is known as the Hinkelfest.
Hinkel is the German word for chicken. So yes, Fredericksburg has a festival all about chickens (Experience PA 1). At this three day long festival, persons can join in activities such as a 5K run, a cooking contest, and lots of games (Hinkelfest 2003 1). The biggest part of the Hinkelfest would have to be all the food. Since the festival is to celebrate chicken, all the dishes there are made with chicken in some way. Kim Zellers says, “The chicken inspired dishes are unlike anywhere else in the world, they are just that good.” Shanna Drahowsky added, “there are a lot of different foods made with chicken that I never heard of before like chicken hot dogs, chicken burgers, and chicken egg rolls.”
One reason why the community of Fredericksburg goes to the Hinkelfest religiously each year could be because it is so cheap. You could go to the Hinkelfest, park for free, get in for free, and stuff your self with chicken at a relatively low cost (Hinkelfest 2003 1). At the Hinkelfest you can also watch free, live country music (2003 Country Music Shows 1). This festival is really important to the community and everyone that goes has fun. When Shann...

Buffalo Wild Wings was founded in 1982 by two longtime friends, Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery. Disbrow was born in Kentucky and moved to Cincinnati Ohio, when he turned 11 so he could live with figure-skating coaches David and Rita Lowery the two later became his legal guardians. Their son Scott Lowery who was 1 when Disbrow moved in with the Lowerys, grew up regarding him as a brother. Disbrow was a rather gifted skater, so much so that he was named an alternate to the 1968 Winter Olympics in France for the United States Skating team. In 1974 Disbrow moved to Buffalo, New York. In Buffalo he got a firsthand look and taste for the cities spicy local style of chicken wings, in a place called the Anchor Bar. Later in 1981, while judging a figure skating competition at Kent State University. Disbrow ran into Lowery and the two decided to get some Buffalo-style chicken wings. After looking everywhere in town and not finding a single
Days before the festival, Upstate New York was ready. The city, county and state officials knew what to expect, and felt confident in their abilities to handle traffic, crowd control, sanitation, medical emergencies, and any unexpected problems.
“Peoria State Hospital? What’s that? Oh is that the Bartonville Insane Asylum haunted house? That place is scary!” This is what pops into many people’s mind when they think of Peoria State Hospital. Peoria State Hospital, PSH, is not just a scary haunted house; it is a very important part of history. PSH was one of the first mental health facilities of its kind. Peoria State Hospital is considered a pioneer in the treatment of mentally ill patients due to the innovative treatment methods it used. PHS influenced mental healthcare not only in Illinois but across the entire United States as well. This facility became terribly downtrodden in its later years due to the launch of new local facilities and programs and the degradation of the buildings. Toward the end PSH was eerily similar to the hospitals they sought to replace. Peoria State Hospital marked a major turning point towards the improving of mental healthcare by helping people with and curing, their mental illness not only in Illinois, but in the entire country (Bittersweet).
and end on Monday, August 18. The promoters had printed up 60,000 tickets to be sold making it the biggest concert event of it’s time. There was very little promotion of it
Eating has been one a great joy to me my entire life. It is a huge portion of everyone’s day, and for most, happens at least three times a day. If we eat three meals a day every day for a year that is one thousand and ninety five meals! With all these meals we need a nice place to sit down and enjoy it. Whenever I get hungry, I always find myself at Chick-fil-a; well, at least five times a week. The familiar sights, comforting scents, and soothing sounds of Chick-fil-A that make it the birthplace of happiness.
...esides the possible bad food. Pigeon Forge has a common problem each year, the massive amounts of traffic. It is nearly impossible to get anywhere during the tourist season. The city has been working on the roads though. Hopefully this will resolve the traffic problem. Also it is kind of difficult to find a parking place if you just want to get out of your car and walk through Pigeon Forge.
Born to a drunkard father and an unhappy mother, the young Beethoven was subjected to a brutal training in music at the hands of his father, who hoped that the boy would prove to be another prodigy like Mozart. Failing in this, the young Beethoven nevertheless embraced music and studied for a short time in 1792 with Franz Joseph Haydn in Vienna. Hailed as a genius and a master of improvisation at the piano, Beethoven soon made a name for himself, and by 1794 was known throughout Europe. He faithfully learned the Classical Viennese styles and traditions in music, and then proceeded throughout his career to completely revolutionize them. His earliest compositions reflect the classical restraint of Haydn and Mozart, yet there were always flashes of what was to come. The emotion he displayed while playing his own music was unheard of in his day, and the fiery intensity of his early Piano Sonata in C minor, known as the "Pathetique" is one of the first works in which Beethoven gives vent to his own dramatic musical voice.
Ludwig van Beethoven, a German composer, generally considered one of the greatest composers in the Western tradition. Born in Bonn, Beethoven was reared in to the capricious discipline of his father, a singer in the court chapel. In1789, because of his father's alcoholism, the young Beethoven became a court musician in order to support his family. His early compositions under the tutelage of German composer Christian Gottlob Neefe, particularly the funeral on the death of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph || in1790, signaled an important talent, and it was planned that Beethoven study in Vienna, Australia, with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Although Mozart's death in 1791 prevented this, Beethoven went to Vienna in 1792, and he became a pupil of an Australian composer named Joseph Haydn.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in 1770 in Bonn, Germany, to Johann and Maria Magdelna van Beethoven. His father was also a musician and had dreams of young Ludwig becoming the Next Mozart. Beethoven's father was tenor singer in the court chapel of Prince archbishop of Cologne, where his grandfather a native of Holland had for a number of years the post of musical director. He was therefore brought up from his earliest youth in a musical atmosphere. While the father was rigorous and not always reasonable in his rule over the young genius, his mother was often over lienent with him, a fact which may account for some of the traits of character the young man developed later on.
Fried chicken, a meat product that uses parts of chickens that are “coated with batter and seasoned, flour, and fried” (The Free Dictionary). It is popular all over the world, but is especially popular in the Southern community. However, in the African-American community, this meat product has taken on a racial meaning in the United States. It has become stereotypical for African-Americans to love fried chicken, along with watermelons, cornbread, and collard greens. This new meaning to fried chicken has affected our social community as well. The reason why this stereotype exists in the first place is hidden in history, dating back to the years when slavery was common.
On a humid afternoon in Georgia as you peacefully rock in your rocking chair you are approached with the irresistible scent of fresh barbecue, and sweet hickory chips. As the scent lingers on, you can’t help but crave a plate of this comfort food. To those in America, this is known as Barbecue. Barbecue has been a staple food of the south for as long as anyone can recall. Not only does barbecue taste good but it helps bring people together to enjoy a special occasion or to just have dinner together. In this essay I will give a general definition of barbecue, tell a brief history on it, discuss the various styles of it, and explain why it’s so popular in the South.
The customer segment for fast food fried chicken generally serve family, children and adults. KFC and Popeyes offer family meals for large order instead of purchasing several value meals (Capillary Technologies, 2014).
I’ve finally made it. When you first land here the immediate difference is all around you whizzing around you creating a sense of life. It 's a sense that you rarely have in a small town it 's bigger I can’t quite obtain a hold of it. It moves fast all through the night and during the day. It peaks in all of my senses to create a brand new sense of the life of the city.
Chicken farms need more government regulation for causing damage to both human and animal health and for being detrimental to the environment. Chicken farms produce large amounts of fecal matter that heavily contaminate waterways that are used for drinking. In the Delmarva Peninsula alone 3.2 billion pounds of raw waste, 13.8 million pounds of phosphorous, and 48.2 million pounds of nitrogen are released into the environment (Intensive Poultry Production).. These nutrients enter bodies of water causing eutrophication, which causes an explosion of algal blooms that die and require large amounts of oxygen to decompose. This increase in oxygen consumption creates ‘dead zones’ in many areas, most notably in the Gulf of Mexico, where there is not enough oxygen to sustain aquatic life.(Facts about Pollution from Livestock Farms). U.S. chicken producers use a total of 2.2 million pounds of the antibiotic arsenic compound, roxarsone (appositive), each year. Most of this compound passes through the chickens and into their excrement. The arsenic that is left in the excrement can leach into surface and groundwater supplies and become inorganic arsenic, a known carcinogen. This waste can also enter waterways, killing hundreds of fish. Inside the chicken farms, large amounts ammonia and dust particulates are released into the air, which can cause moderate to severe respiratory problems in humans. When waste pools are filled, the companies spray liquid waste into the air that mists and carries over to human populations that inhale these toxic gases and become ill. (Meat Production Wastes Natural Resources), Chicken farms also waste resources due to the fact that many crops, such as soybeans, are grown to be feed for livestock. Only 20% of the ...
This is by using their algorithms to your advantage. Google actually allows businesses to target locally. This is ideal of course. Also, be sure to incorporate locally optimized keywords into the content on your website. For example, if you own a local ice cream parlor, it does you no good to advertise to people states away. However, by using locally specific keywords, you can make sure only those who are within driving distance will find you. An example of good keywords for this would include sometime like “ice cream treats in Ringgold,” or “ice cream parlor in Ringgold.” These both use local keywords that would be known by locals but not by anyone states
