We have an effect on everything in our environment including the air, water, land, plants, and animals and of course, ourselves. We need a healthy environment for our own health and happiness so you can see why waste management is so important. We must carefully control the waste we create to make sure it does not harm our environment and our health. You can contribute in many ways. The most important things that you can be aware of and participate in are to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle - The Three R’s. To reduce is to lessen. To reuse is to use again. To recycle is to recover raw materials and reuse them to create new products.
The most important of the Three R’s is Reduce or lessen. You can have the most impact on the environment by first reducing your usage of and purchasing of products that cannot be reused or recycled. Of course, the most effective way to reduce waste is not to create it in the first place. There are many ways you can contribute to the reduction of energy consumption; some of which are in your purchases. Energy efficient appliances go a long way in contribution to cutting energy use and costs. According to EnergyStar.gov, (www.energystar.gov), a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, products with the Energy Star designation are the same or better than standard products, but use less energy. The EPA estimates that the typical household can save 30%, or $600, on its annual energy bills (approximately $1,900), with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions. In other words, the purchase of Energy Star approved appliances uses less energy and can save money, with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the use of energy-efficient appliances ...

Therefore, the most important things to remember is that to reduce is to lessen, to reuse is to use again and to recycle is to recover and reuse in new products. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle - The Three R’s, you decide how green you want to be.

According to Jason, “costs would fall if people adopt new energy-efficient technologies without a price hike in energy” (Shogren, 2004). A study done by Jaffe and his colleagues concluded that 20-25% of existing carbon emissions can be eliminated if people switched to fluorescent light bulbs, improved thermal insulation, more efficient heating and cooling systems (Jaffe, Newell, & Stavins, 2003). It all comes down to the consumers. Some of the energy efficient technologies are readily available but are still expensive. The driving force to efficient-energy technology depends on the changes of relative price. People will not want spend money on newer appliances especially if the prices are high, and if their current one still functions.
Waste management is the operation of how waste materials are handled. The affair of waste management is relevant to everyone world-wide. Wastes are materials that have no further economic use, and when disposed of, are hazardous to humans and the environment. Wastes include solid waste, liquid wastes, and air pollutants created by humans and cannot be naturally recycled. Current waste management techniques need to be completely overhauled because funding in government budget is not enough to meet standards, landfills are reaching their maximum capacity worldwide, and nuclear waste storage must be handled correctly. Waste management has been a highly thought about complication for global authorities. Due to
The old Native American proverb that states, “We do not inherit the land from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children” really makes me think about my lifestyle and how it is benefiting the Earth. Being sustainable not only means to take care of the planet for my generation but also for future generations. It is my job to care for the planet as best as I can and to help pass on these good habits to my children. The best ways that I can help my environment are composting uneaten food and old vegetables, donating or reusing old clothes, and recycling plastic and paper products.
In conclusion, the impact I personally have on the planet has surprised me. My personal ecological footprint is much larger than I expected. However, there are measures I can take to drop my current consumption rate, such as altering my recycling choices, making better purchasing decisions, and adopting the reduce, reuse, and recycle concept throughout my household. By altering my habits and consumption rate, I can affect my local community tremendously in a positive way for the planet Earth.
Attention Getter: Most of the people present here today probably recycle; some more than others. And probably, most people assume that they are saving natural resources and helping the environment. However, this is not always true.
Have you ever heard the expression “saving money is making money”? If someone offered to put hundreds of dollars a year in your pocket would that interest you? In this paper, we will discuss how it is possible to not only put money back in your pocket each year but also how you can do your part to make our environment a healthier and more environmentally friendly place. This is all made possible by owning an Energy Star Rated Home (ESRH). My goal is to bring to light the overall benefits associated with owning an ESRH for the homeowner as well as the environment. To achieve this goal, I will define Energy Star, give a brief description of the history of the program, discuss the requirements that must be met to qualify
Going green in the workplace is a new trend in business. In choosing to go green in the workplace you may be challenged by an elevated initial start-up costs, however savings earned from this investment will more than pay for those initial costs in the future. Many people see this as a controversial issue, and granted it does have its own unique set of pro and cons, but if a business makes careful choices going green can prove to be very rewarding. Companies are doing this to save money on energy expenses as well as deploying it as a means to help reduce the carbon foot-print they are leaving behind.
I. There seem to be some background points I must go over before I can properly persuade you to recycle; this includes definitions and standard waste makeup.

It is very important to know better about this problem. We can all work trying not to buy disposable products, recycle, and reuse. In addition, The rational use of energy is also critical so we must reduce consumption of electricity, water, and other natural resources. In order to live in a truly more sustainable and healthy world to go for a good way to the
Household energy conservation is a very practical and realistic approach to conserving energy within our society. US households consume a tremendous amount of natural gas as well as electric energy. It has been calculated that the amount of energy consumed within the US increased exponentially from about 1850 to 1975. If energy continued to increase at this rate, we would be experiencing severe energy shortages in our current society. Luckily, steps towards conservation, including various energy regulations, have curbed that growth somewhat, brining the predicted 160 Qbtu/yr for the year 2000 down to around 93.8 Qbtu/yr by the year 1996. However, household energy usage is still a major issue as households consume about 38% of the total consumed energy and contribute greatly to natural gas consumption and issues such as global warming. Therefore, it is important that people understand how we use energy in the household and what steps can be taken to conserve that energy.

Therefore, recycling can protect natural resources, preserve energy and lessen pollution. If people want to save planet Earth for generations to come, then recycling is necessary. On Debate.org, the question “Should there be mandatory recycling?” was asked and 84 percent said yes, while only 16 percent said no (“Should There Be Mandatory Recycling”). Recycling is very important to the planet and can make a huge difference in so many ways. Recycling is a way of life and once a person has made the choice to follow through with the steps, recycling can become second nature. Every small contribution adds up to how the society shapes the Earth’s future. How will someone make a difference?
Efficient waste managing approaches help with reducing and avoiding unpleasant impact on the environment and human health, while allowing financial development and progress in the quality of people’s life. People do not even imagine what is the size and capacity of their activities and the impact they produce on the environment. Garbage is an important ecological problem. It is seems amazing that approximately all of the citizens of the world identify rubbish as a major environmental problem and yet these people still litter. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (2008), an American produces 250 million tons of garbage per year (para.2). There are different circumstances that are based on the society, environmental conditions, occupation and size of each of the different family. As Richmond (2010) stated, if no administration organizations has the responsibility or resources to concentrate their efforts on the waste disposal, then the responsibility to do that is on ...
Recycle is defined as a process of processing the consumables, so that it is returned to the raw form of the material, to be re-used and reused. Or can also be defined as the process of using the natural resource again after reprocessing.
