Beyoncé was also accused of using a clone stamp tool to make her thighs appear thinner). After this heating controversy there is no saying if this singer will be able to retain her Queen Bee status. A thigh gap is identified as a gap that becomes evident between a woman's inner thighs when she stands with her feet together. If you haven't heard of it, it’s probably because it doesn't exist in the majority of the population. Women weren’t always striving for a thin physique. In fact, women were once admired for their natural, God-given bodies. For Instance, during the Renaissance era (1400s- early 16th century) the more voluptuous a woman’s body was, the more she was desired (Kuchinsky). Painting...

Amanda Bynes has been portraying erratic behavior and people around her are citing their concerns. She recently made a claim of being as rich as the Olsen twins who have a net worth counting upto $300 million. People close to her say that Amanda has been spending a lot of money mindlessly and might run out of money if she doesn’t check her expenses. Further rumors happen to claim that she spent about $30,000 in a month. Bynes regularly claims that the news about her picturize a different Amanda from her and people shouldn’t be believing them and she further adds that her family and friends won’t be speaking on her behalf as she has snapped her ties with them.
In 2013, the self-titled visual album BEYONCÉ sold almost eight hundred thirty thousand digitally in the first three days, while her sixth number one and second visual album, Lemonade, only sold four hundred ninety thousand digitally in the first week. Although Beyoncé’s second visual album wasn’t numerically successful, both show a vulnerable, an artistic, and a controversial side of Beyoncé. Both albums have surprising visuals and stunning lyrical content with either an obvious meaning or a meaning we have yet to figure out, such as the famous line, “You better call Becky with the good hair.” (Beyoncé, “Sorry”). BEYONCÉ and Lemonade show that Beyoncé tries to better herself as an artist and make herself more vulnerable.
Beyoncé who is a pop icon shows off her body, and the females in the African American culture craves to have a body like hers. There are a lot of famous women who execute plastic surgery to have a bigger butt and smaller waist. There have been reports of females
Beyoncé first started singing when she was 7 years old on “Star” a famous show for finding people with talent like “American idol”. In 1990 she started a group called “Gyrls Tyme” with Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson. Beyoncé’s father quit his job in 1996 to make her most famous group “Destiny’s Child” and a record deal for “Columbia Records”. The group’s second album “The writing on the Wall” hit No.6 on the “Billboard” After hit singles “Say my name” and “Jumpin, Jumpin”. Apart from music, the singing sensation also launched her acting career with her 2001 debut film Carmen: A Hip Hopera. Beyoncé’s musical career along with other major and minor assignments has made her one of the wealthiest celebrities in the world. Be...
In that light, we all should have sprinkled a grain of salt on Janet’s exposed chest. Miss Jackson, while sometimes nasty, should never have been a topic for discussion except to point out how silly it is to worry about a breast while the nation is mired in a war.
On the night of December 13, 2013 Beyoncé, released her fifth self-titled album on ITunes. The album caught many people by surprise because Beyoncé did not set a date for the album, nor did she use any promotion; she did release a video on her Instagram asking her followers if they “were ready”. The buzz spread through social media like a wild fire. With no promotion or no warning, Beyoncé album took the world by storm and made it for her audience and critics to take in the album and it contents. Many people loved the album for not only its catchy songs, but also the growth and “looser” conservative Beyoncé. On the other hand many people did not feel that her album was growth, but a way to catch up to the overly sexual generation. Beyoncé has always been aware of her sexual side, pop side, and feminist side; this has been documented through her four previous albums. Yet, a lot of people have questioned if Beyoncé a feminist because of the content of her newest album. In order to answer that a person must ask him or her self; what is a feminist, why some people believe she is feminist, why others do not believe she feminist, and whether or not Beyoncé think she is a feminist.
Achieving a thigh gap is society’s latest trend, particularly in today’s youth. The thigh gap has become widespread among social media sites – namely, Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. It is through these sites that the concept of Hot Dog Legs arose. Models all across the runways sported thigh gaps, and it soon became an obsession for teenage girls. The thigh gap does not exist outside the world of media.
Models of Rubens, Rembrandt, Gaugin and Matisse were all rounded, plump women.A plump and healthy women was admired as it reflected wealth and success.(14). Where as images of women have become slimmer since the 1950’s according to Jennifer A. (Australian journal of nutrition and dietetics).
She definitely over sexualized herself there, as a result many articles and interviews were done about her afterwards. I think people would agree that it is Beyoncé and that most love her no matter what she is wearing or isn't, but I don’t think they will agree with the evidence given in the article because there is a lack of it. Bill O’Reilly and Bell Hooks both seem amenable on the fact that they don’t consider Beyoncé an artist. Bill O’Reilly is reluctant to see her music video “Partition” as art. Bell Hooks thinks that maybe the reason Beyoncé is so “appealing” to the world is not really because “of her beauty, but because of her money" (Berlatsky, (Berlatsky, Noah.
In her novel “Beauty Myth”, Naomi Wolf argues that the beauty and fashion industry are to blame for using false images to portray what beautiful woman is. She believes the magazines are to blame for women hating their bodies. Wolf states, “When they discuss [their bodies], women lean forward, their voices lower. They tell their terrible secret. It’s my breast, they say. My hips. It’s my thighs. I hate my stomach.” (Wolf, 451) She is focusing on how w...
Randy Cohen an author at the New York Times states that, “Foes see such images as harming women by promoting a standard of beauty so false that it can be achieved solely by manipulating a photograph of an already slender model.” (Cohen). This quote is saying that these images and hurt people so much by just changing someone's waist line or taking away their acne. This changing of images can hurt people so much because they have no idea that what they are looking at isn’t real. The quote by Randy Cohen supports my claim because its saying that people can be hurt by these untruthful photos that are all over. These photos pop up everywhere from food commercials to a covergirl ad in a magazine. Real people need to know that what they are witnessing is not true. Author Aaron Horwath from Pixels has said that, “In 2013, Beyonce protested against H&M, refusing to allow them to make alterations to her body after a photoshoot for H&M’s swimwear line.” (Horwath). This quote means that even some of the worlds biggest stars don’t believe in the art of photoshop. Beyonce knew that if she was photoshopped in a swimwear magazine then she would hurt people she didn’t even know. This quote by Aaron Horwath supports my claim because even beyonce knew that photoshop is untruthful. She wouldn’t let people change her body just to look better, she even protested to H&M about it to make
On the April edition of "OK! Magazine,” has wrote an article about Kylie Jenner. They stated that she spent over $40,000 on plastic surgery to have better looks such as, having a curvy body, upgrading her face, and having bigger lips, buttocks, and breasts. The language of the article emphasizes that her looks make her look older than her actual age. This shows that women can be criticized by the fact they want to look better. “OK! Magazine” even stated that many teens tried to get Kylie’s lips by sucking their lips in jars or shot glasses. Since, teens are doing this, Kylie Jenner should be more careful on what she says on the media because she stated she applied a lot of lip liner to make her lips bigger. They also stated, that Kylie is
Beyoncé’s surprise release of her sixth album, and second visual album, Lemonade, in April of 2016 has raised many questions and started discussion of the many issues the visual album raises. The album, among many other themes, explores the emotional path someone may face if they discovered that their spouse was committing infidelity. Conversely, the visual elements of the album address and celebrate the struggle and success of African Americans, particularly women, in the current social climate of the United States of America, and will be the focus of this paper using selected tracks from the album. The use of social and political statements draw attention to the movement of black feminism in Beyoncé’s 2016 visual album, Lemonade.
Throughout this essay will be an analysis and discussion of how Beyoncé has been affected by elements such as Media convergence and globalization and how she has made contribution to the public sphere and fourth
