In the movie La Luna a young boy named Bambino was given a job to clean up the small starts of the moon. The father and grandfather had several ideas for the boy to be created and always fight. When the huge star turned big to wipe land on the moon, Bambino suggested to help his family to save the day and not get overwhelmed.
It was Bambino’s first time wiping stars off the moon with his father and grandfather, and both wanted the boy to follow the way of accomplishing things. A young boy, Babino went on a midnight sailing boat with his Papá and Nanno. After we secure the boat in the middle of the sea, Nanno presented Bambino a similar cap that he and Papá had to wear. The grandfather was showing the boy how to clean the moon. The distribution
of the hat symbolized the recognition of his family since they all did their occupation with a special hat and had the opportunity one to begin working and reflect the footstep that was followed by his grandfather and father. The two men was arguing on the way Bambino had to wear it, with Nanno pulling his cap on the back of his head and Papá pulling the cap to over hi eyes. However, a great impact and weight was put on him, as whom he determined to pursue as an example of his grandfather or father. Bambino went with the flow of his grandfather and did what was best. Although, the father was setting up a ladder for Bambino to climb up to the moon. Bambino was climbing up the ladder while the air riches him to the moon. When he was on the moon the little boy found starts all over the moon. He was touching a star that glowed and formed the rest to be colorful. Bambino show his family that he was capable of having more ideas about knowing what to do while there was a mess on the moon. His Papá and father couldn’t brake the star that was stuck. The little boy had an idea of how to brake the start by hammering the star and everything fell on the ground. Throughout the scene all three went to work and wipe all the stars to one side. Once the job was done, they climb down to the boat and look at the moon, which they the glowed star became a half moon. At the end the star symbolized a new relationship and a delightful future. In conclusion the Luna told us that if we have learned from other the right thing us succeed in life.

In the novel “Cuban Color in Tourism and La Lucha” the author and anthropologist L. Kaifa Roland describes her journey in Cuba and the different people she encounter with that describe to her the life of a citizen in Cuba. Throughout her stay in Cuba, Roland describes the different situations people go through in Cuba economically and gender wise. She also mainly describes “La Lucha” which in the book is identified as the struggle people face and go through every day in order to get by in Cuba economically. What exactly does Aztlan mean? There are various definitions, such as the ancestral homeland of the Aztec people and their descendants or everyone’s individual Aztlan which is ones’ personal sanctuary. A place one creates in their own image consisting of features that show what kind of person they are, while at the same time still recognizing their ethnic culture. We all have this place though not everyone’s is the same. Your hobbies, interests, the way you dress all make up this special place. Without it, we would be metaphorically lost. Latino homophobia still exists and continues to be a problem in today’s society. The Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community is growing stronger because more people are coming out to rebel against the systems of society. Since the systems of society are based on cultural norms, the homophobia should be addressed because the LGBTQ community face different forms of violence and as a result new generations will be coming to be accepting them as normal individuals.
The normalization of being a heterosexual presence would classify you as normal and you’d feel accepted by many different groups and communities by default. Certainly no one would deny that being true. What seems to be the issue is why is being heterosexual is the only type of normality society seems to accept. While reading Gloria Anzaldua’s Borderlands/ La Frontera, the author brought up her personal struggles with her sexuality within her culture and with society. As well as other difficulties when being a female and being lesbian (Anzaldúa and Saldívar-Hull, 41). The scope of this essay should cover the many different borders we face as humans when it comes to where we draw the line on sexuality.
In “In Living Color: Race and American Culture”, Michael Omi claims that racism still takes place in America’s contemporary society. According to Omi, media and popular culture shape a segregating ideology by giving a stereotypical representation of black people to the public, thus generating discrimination between races (Omi 115:166). In the documentary Latino Americans – Episode 5: Prejudice and Pride, it centralizes on the success of the oppressed community through significant leaders in that period. Union activists César Chavez, along with Dolores Huerta, playwright Luis Valdez, teacher Sal Castro, US Congressman Herman Ballido, and political activist José Ángel Gutiérrez all contributed to egalitarianism of Latinos across the nation. This documentary reflects on the importance of equal prospects within the workplace, the academic setting, and the social and political features in society.
A Guatemalan native, a male graduate student that I work with in my research group at the University told this story. He came from the countryside, living in a small village back home. According to him, the story of La Llorona, involving a weeping woman, arose sometime in the 1700s and became well known both at school and home. Some claimed to have actually seen the weeping woman. Some disregard it as unscientific and implausible. No one is sure of the exact origin of this urban legend. This story was told to me and another graduate student in our research group while sitting in lab waiting for the experiment results. The story began as we started sharing our own background and the culture of our own countries when the storyteller decided to make a little shift and started to tell a story told to him by his older cousin--the story of La Llorona:
The movie 'Ethnic Notions' describes different ways in which African-Americans were presented during the 19th and 20th centuries. It traces and presents the evolution of the rooted stereotypes which have created prejudice towards African-Americans. This documentary movie is narrated to take the spectator back to the antebellum roots of African-American stereotypical names such as boy, girl, auntie, uncle, Sprinkling Sambo, Mammy Yams, the Salt and Pepper Shakers, etc. It does so by presenting us with multiple dehumanized characters and cartons portraying African-Americans as carefree Sambos, faithful Mammies, savage Brutes, and wide-eyed Pickaninnies. These representations of African-Americans roll across the screen in popular songs, children's rhymes, household artifacts and advertisements. These various ways to depict the African ?American society through countless decades rooted stereotypes in the American society. I think that many of these still prevail in the contemporary society, decades after the civil rights movement occurred.
Federico Garcia Lorca’s “Romance de La Luna, Luna” is a Spanish poem that tells the story of a young gypsy boy and the moon. His love and infatuation with the moon leads to his death. This poem not only tells the story of this young child’s demise, but also shows the effects when someone is lured in by an appealing temptation.
In the French film, Blue, the color blue is used to represent freedom and liberty. Many times throughout the movie there are somewhat obvious examples, but other examples where you have to look into deep into the symbolism to see how they connect with the theme. The director allows us to somewhat use our imagination to figure out what he is trying to portray. By using the color blue, we can interpret how freedom and liberty play a big role in the movie.
Folklore is a collection of stories passed down from generation to generation that includes Legends, Myths and Fairy tales. Legends are a semi-true story, which has been passed on from a person to another person that has an important meaning. Myths are a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon. A Fairytale is a children's story about magical which they have imaginary beings and lands. Hispanic Folklore is the traditional is mostly about beliefs, legends, customs and stories of the community of the hispanic culture. Hispanic or latino culture encompasses the traditions, language, religious beliefs and practices, legends, music and history.
To help me understand and analyze a different culture, I watched the film Selena. The film tells the life story of the famous singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. Not only does it just tell personal stories from her life, it also gives insight to the Mexican-American culture. Her whole life she lived in the United States, specifically in Texas, but was Hispanic and because of that both her and her family faced more struggles than white singers on the climb to her success. Even though the film is a story about a specific person, it brought understanding into the culture in which she lived. Keeping in mind that these ideas that I drew about the Mexican-American culture is very broad and do not apply to every single person in the culture, there were very obvious differences in their culture and the one that I belong. Mexican-American culture identifies with their family rather than individualized or spiritual identities and the culture has gone through significant changes because of discrimination and the changing demographics of the United States.

There has been immense controversy surrounding whether or not the US government merely hoaxed the world by asserting victory over Russia in their space race. Various arguments and evidences have been brought forward for and against this issue with divergent conclusions drawn from this. However, my closer insight of the various facts surrounding the argument indicates lack of sufficient reasons to believe the US ever landing on the moon. It is regrettable that these unproven and unsupported reports about the landing of the moon by the US crew have infiltrated widely throughout the US and the world at large. This is particularly disturbing given that the public, especially the young curious population grows up with misinformed mentality of an issue whose occurrence remains in doubt.
