When it comes to sports brands there is always a huge disagreement on which brand is the better brand. People say Under Armour is the top sports brand selling the best of the best to young people all over the nation. Then there is Nike, which is where greatness was built up and sold to youngsters everywhere, making them very happy people. This big argument over which is better has been going on, ever since the competition between the two has heated up to make better products than the other. Nike has the title of being the number one sports brand, but Under Armour is making a huge effort to reach the significant goal that Plank the CEO has set for the company. Nike knows how the game is played they have been a large competitor in the market for a long time. Where as Under Armour began its business in the late 90’s, coming into the game with little resources under a significant goal to make. According to Daniel Roberts a reporter at Cable News Network (CNN) that the enormous $21-billion-in-sales Nike, was going to buy the $1.4 billion lower competitor Under Armour. Now just look at those numbers for a second and ask yourself, which company looks more successful. Nike has the potential to wipe Under Armour off the face of the market; Nike has also spread to a variety packed market. Overall, Under Armor did an outstanding job targeting young, aspiring athletes to do what they want to do with their life. They used logic to show how hard the athletes work along with emotion to show how serious they take their training. Finally, Under Armor used the credibility of the athletes to sell their new training shoe. This commercial will make anyone want to purchase a pair of shoes and workout themselves. Since the commercial is on such a serious level, viewers emotionally connect with it which makes Under Armor seem like the best brand
As Nike is an international company that has their product selling worldwide, they have countless of competitors, including many domestic local firm. However, not all of these companies have the power to compete with Nike, only a few international companies are Nike¡¦s major competitors, for instance, Adidas and Reebok.
They could overtake Adidas if they continue with their innovative strategy because they’re only $3.5 billion away. Since now-a-days consumers are all about technology and new innovative products, if Under Armour continues with their innovative strategy they will continue to see an increase of financial growth, become a major competitor for Adidas, and a closer competitor to Nike.
One thing I like about Nike is how accessible it is. You can find Nike products just about anywhere such as Nike outlets, Dicks Sporting Goods, Khols, Macy and other big department stores, as well as online. Some companies don’t make it as easy to find and buy their products which can be a struggle. I hate when I’m in need of a certain product but companies limit their access, and I can’t get what I need when I need it. Nike makes it easy to find and buy their products at any
Nike’s goal is to remain unique and different from others in terms of the items offered on the market. Arguably, Nike belongs to a monopolistically competitive market as there only a few organizations with the ability to regulate the amount charged for their product which means they cannot make their prices high as this is likely to make customers move on to other available choices (Nike, Inc., 2012). However, Nike can find a balance between the prices to charge for their products and remaining competitive with other companies in the industry. Nike has formed a distinction between the appearance and performance of their footwear and that of their competitors. Although products are differentiated from other companies, they still influence each other because they are items of the same
Founded in 1996 by University of Maryland graduate Kevin Plank, Under Armour has become the leading supplier of the athletic performance apparel industry. Under Armour began with simple idea to create a t-shirt that would enhance athletic performance by regulating body temperature and removing perspiration without absorbing it. Under Armour was based out of Plank's grandmother's basement in D.C. until he moved the headquarters to, and built a manufacturing plant in, South Baltimore.
Under Armour has always set aggressive targets for themselves and they should not change that now. The leadership team believes that “a 3% share of the (athletic footwear) market would nearly double UA’s total revenue” (Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman, & Bamford, 2015, 2012, 2010), and this should be another one of the metrics that Under Armour monitors and grows.
Under Amour Company ventured into a market segment that was overcrowded, it had thousands of companies that competed against each other. Out of the many companies involved in the trade, the two most formidable threats seemed to be orchestrated by Nike and Adidas. These are two giant sports apparel and footwear, which pride themselves as having been long term veterans in the industry. Nike in particular was christened as the ultimate shoe and athletic apparel company with revenues of $18.6 billion, net income of $1.9 billion and more than thirty two thousand employees globally in the year 2008. This makes it the largest athletic shoe and apparel seller in the world. This company has seen major expansions in outlets throughout the world over the years. Adidas on its part has managed to build a powerful brand through its technological innovations and aggressive marketing where they spend up to thirteen per cent of their revenue besides offering high quality services. These scenarios seem to present Under Armour with a massive competitive disadvantage.
The sports apparel and accessories industry has a highly competitive market. Businesses are constantly competing for elite athletes to sponsor, raw materials, and every opportunity to expand. Under Armour is able to not only survive but thrive in this market because of their ability to think outside of the box. They are constantly creating new and exciting products that help athletes everywhere.

Adidas and Nike will be a forever ongoing topic of which brand is considered the best out of all. They’re many flaws to Adidas and Nike but Adidas is for sure better than Nike due to all the reasons listed. It doesn’t matter at the end though because the customer is always going to choose what they want whether or not they have read this. Adidas has shown to be one of the top brands in the game but without its contender, Nike, it would be nothing at
Just as it says in the text, Nike is predestined to be the front-runner in the industry. After all, the company is named after the Greek goddess of victory!

Adidas targets many consumers all over the world, they are very popular for their comfortable shoes “they are a very flexible shoe”. Adidas has also worked very hard to different themselves from Nike. If you look at a pair of Nikes and then a pair of Adidas shoes it is very easy to see the difference between the two. Adidas has a very modern look with a foam shaped bottom and can be seen wearing them with casual clothes and athletic clothes. As for Nike, they are more designed for sports, and the bottom of their shoes are very thin with less comfort. I just bought my first two pairs of Adidas shoes this past year and their advertising strategies has defiantly achieved their goals. They are comfortable and well made. So, with that being said I would say that Adidas has done a very good job with repositioning themselves and using new designs to better their brand; and they were all achieve by good quality shoes, using their original concept, and keeping customers satisfied with different products advertised all the time. I would say that they have achieved well and are going to beat Nike off the shelves soon. I love Adidas
