The painting I have chosen to do my formal analysis on is The Swing by Jean-Honore Fragonard. They made this painting in 1767 with oil paint on a 81 x 64 cm canvas. The title of the piece relates to the painting because there is a woman swinging. The subject matter of this work is a woman in the swing in a forest or garden with two men accompanying her. This painting is also very realistic due to the angling of light and shadows. The woman stands out not only because she is in the center but also because of how the light hits her and the color of her outfit and skin compared to the rest of the painting. In this painting it also seems like going to this location is a part of their daily life. Right when I look at this painting, I can see some important lines. For example, I can see an implied line connecting her kicking foot to her shoe. This tells the viewer that she kicked off her shoes or that it had come loose when she was swinging and fell off. I can also see an implied line with the statue on the left side of the painting and her shoe, the eyes of the statue as if looking at her shoe. I can also see another implied line of statue underneath the women, where it appears that the statue is looking at the women. Both of these implied lines tell me that the women swinging attracts the attention of …show more content…
For example, when looking at the tree or the leaves there is a rough texture to show the viewer that it is a more natural thing that is not perfect to mimic actual trees. When looking at the figures, they look more smooth and soft, especially the women who look almost porcelain. I can faintly see a pattern on where the statue on the left of the painting stands, which is a bunch of dots in a line. The artist does create movement in this picture because you can see the dress swooshing in the wind from her swing. I can also see that time is incorporated in this painting because time is
The golf swing is one of the hardest biomechanical motions in sport to execute (Vaughn, 1979). The majority of the studies that have been done on the golf swing use “the full golf swing” for their tests e.g. the driver swing, or the long iron swing from the fairway, as it is the primary foundation on which all the other golf shots are based (Maddalozzo, 1987). Maddalozzo, (1987) states that the sole purpose of a golfer, when using the full golf swing, is to produce maximum distance, accuracy, control
itself, but for the opportunity to analyze and improve a process (the golf swing). I often taught other golfers, because I was fascinated with how unique golf swings are and I wanted to help others improve. At the time, I had no formal idea of design of experiments, process optimization, or data analysis, but after my first Industrial Engineering (IE) class, I realized that what I enjoyed so much about analyzing the golf swing was the opportunity to apply IE principles. Since starting in IE, I have
separated by phases. There is the plant phase where the athletes stops running and plants one of his legs and swings his body around to the ball. After this phase, there is the kicking phase, where the athlete finishes rotating his body to the ball to complete the kick. This paper will review the literature and research of the biomechanics of soccer kicks as well as provide a kinematic analysis and discussion. Literature Review Instep soccer kick Each article analyzed in this essay researched the
The Insurgent Yellow Wall Paper: The Mental Breakdown of a Tragedian The short story “Yellow Wallpaper, “written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in 1892, narrates the story in the first person through parts, as if they were entered as a memoir. She is a woman who is going through a type of paranoiac post-partum depression, after the birth of her child. It can also be observed also a type of bipolar disorder in her. The impact of the classic The “Yellow Wallpaper” is huge, the shock of its truth is unpredictable
supported by extensive research, has reports of high reliability and validity, and is the only art therapy assessment tool that can be linked to the DSM-5 standards (Cohen, 2013). To begin, each participant is given three pieces of 18”x 24” white drawing paper and a box of twelve-color chalk pastels. Each drawing is allotted fifteen minutes. The first drawing is a “free choice” and the participant is directed to “Make a drawing using these materials”. This drawing may be seen as a representation of the clients’
Vibration Analysis of Cabinet Assembly of Washing Machine Abstract This paper presents vibration analysis model for automatic washing machine. This model can analyze vibrations in cabinet assembly of washing machine. General purpose motion analysis software ADAMS is used to create analysis model. Simulation results and experiment results are compared in various unbalanced conditions to validate this vibration analysis model. By using created model, various parameters are tested to reduce the vibration
The Technology of Baseball There is so much technology all across the world like in sports, homes, stores and schools. Technology can be used for many things but this paper will show how it can be used in America's Pastime, Baseball. Baseball has developed its technology over the past few years. Just recently they added replay just like the NFL and also a timer that counts down from and in that set amount of time you have to be in the batter's box before the time expires. According to MLB.com
greater than in the stance phase. The outcome of this study concluded that there were other central neural mechanisms which modulated the amplitude of the H-reflex and it was not just the consequence of α-motor neuron excitation levels. In the current paper, Capaday and Stein investigated the modulation of the H-reflex and whether it is similar in running as it is in walking in the same subject. This investigation expected the modulation of the H-reflex to be different in the two separate locomotion types
for the stopper will be equal to the weight of the washers Procedure Begin this experiment by putting on safety goggles and collecting all of your materials; a tube, string, rubber stopper, tape, paper clip, washers, and a timer. Begin by measuring the mass of a washer, the rubber stopper, and a paper clip. Also measure the length of the string. Start with four washers on the mass hanger, as seen in the drawn diagram below. Practice swinging the stopper in a horizontal circular motion, holding it
“The Yellow Wallpaper,” a short story of a women’s deterioration into mental illness, is Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s opinion on the domination of males in the medical environment, and the patriarchal formation of the household in the nineteenth century. Gilman is informing the reader of the consequences of a society dominated by males on fixed gender roles. The man is the authoritative and working figure, while the women is confined to her household duties and to obey the authority of her husband
Amanda Hua Dr. Todd Mueller MUSC 1100 30 April 2017 Take Five Analysis In this paper, Take Five will be analyzed using four of the five elements of music, as well as other related facts. There are five elements of music that were taught in class; the four that will be used in this paper are rhythm, melody, harmony, and texture. Rhythm is the element of music that deals with the arrangement of sounds and silences. Melody is a collection of pitches that are played in succession. Harmony is a collection
skill because it take great hip rotation, wrist rotation,... ... middle of paper ... ...e cues to the learner. The most critical element of this whole learning experience comes down to practice. If I set up an environment that encourages mental and physical repetition the building blocks for practice have been set. To finsh this metaphorical house I will give the students cues that will help them develop their swing. As the students are practicing I must provide feedback that is helpful to them
elicit information necessary for treatment and care. An Interaction Process Analysis (IPA) is a verbatim account of conversation that includes all verbal and nonverbal interactions of both the patient and the student. Once a process recording has been completed, it is analyzed in terms of the “content and meaning of the interaction based on communication theory” (Berman & Snyder, 2011, p. 482). The results of the analysis indicate: 1.) the
her own children. Doing so, she came up with a technique called “play techniques”. This is where the child play activity was taking as a symbolic unconsciousness material and interpreted into the same way dreams and free association are in adult analysis. Melanie was the first to view children’s play as meaningful, and later on this technique became a contribution to play therapy (Donaldson,G. n.d). In 1918, her marriage was failing so she took her and her
The objective of this paper is to analyze and discuss some of the Boeing Company's business decisions using their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, also known as an S.W.O.T. analysis which is defined as, "a planning tool used to analyze an organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. (Nickels, McHugh, McHugh, page 216)". This is a very powerful tool usable by any business that is just starting out, going through a change in direction, or in the process of a major
