The Success of the Pirates of the Caribbean in Appealing to a Wide Audience
Pirates of the Caribbean has a wide range of attractive qualities such
as the fast paced action and the way the camera work, music and action
fit in together to make a fantastic family film witch draws
you to watch it again and again.
The hero’s and villains play an interesting part but the best part is
played by Johnny Depp as the anti-hero captain Jack Sparrow. His
cunning personality makes you grin as even in the face of death he’s
laughing and making jokes. For example towards the end of the film
when he is about to be hung he is laughing at the crimes he is about
to be hung for.
He tricks people into a sense of security by making them think that he
was clever and then he turns out to be clever. Just like in the
beginig of the film when he gives some money to the docks man but then
gets it back by taking his money which the docks man left on the side.
The main plot is really about Captain Barbossa and the curse of the
Black Pearl although the film does have many sub-plots which are just
as good, such as wills quest to rescue Elizabeth. The determination of
will makes you want him to find Elizabeth and overcome any boundaries
that stand in the way of him and Elizabeth. The search for Will
Turners’ roots is another imaginative sub-plot. When Jack Sparrow
turns up and reveals to him that his father is not the man Will
thought he was. It turns out that instead of being a respectable
blacksmith his father was a pirate on board the Black Pearl. All that
Will had known has suddenly disappeared and he goes on a mad quest in
search of the truth,...

...e’s are brilliant such as “parley” when it
starts it is something Elizabeth uses to save herself but later on
becomes a joke which really annoys the pirates. The majority of the
humour is provided by Jack Sparrow’s wit as he could make a joke out
of any situation. For example at the beginning of the film when Jack
Sparrow is captured Lieutenant Norrington says, “You must be the worst
pirate I have ever heard of.” To which Jack reply’s “ But you have
heard of me.”
The blurb describes the film perfectly, it tells us about the story
but doesn’t give away too much of the plot but tells us it an
excellent film. This helps it appeal to a wider audience.
To conclude I would say that this film is a family thriller, action
packed, funny and horrific. A little bit of everything which means it
appeals to a huge audience.

Another of his quotes from the DVD commentary accurately sums up the film as a whole: "On the surface it's kind of funny, but you're only laughing because you want to cry."
Throughout the film, the audience is also exposed to many different comical scenes. Many situations and even dialogue are humorous. For example, one of the three killers sleeps with a Teddy Bear. Additionally, Nobody calls Blake a “stupid fucking white man.” This is funny purely because it is not something that would be expected from his character.

Have you ever had one of those days that were so bad that you desperately needed a night at the ice cream or candy store? The 1970’s was that really bad day, while the night of self- indulgence was the 1980’s. Americans love to escape from our daily stress, and of all the products that allow us to do so, none is more popular than the movies. Movies are key cultural artifacts that offer a view of American culture and social history. They not only offer a snapshot of hair styles and fashions of the times but they also provide a host of insights into Americans’ ever-changing ideals. Like any cultural artifact, the movies can be approached in a number of ways. Cultural historians have treated movies as a document that records the look and mood of the time that promotes a particular political or moral value or highlights individual or social anxieties and tensions. These cultural documents present a particular image of gender, ethnicity, romance, and violence. Out of the political and economic unrest of the 1970’s that saw the mood and esteem of the country, as reflected in the artistry and messages in the movies, sink to a new low, came a new sense of pride in who we are, not seen since the post-World War II economic boom of the 1950’s. Of this need to change, Oscar Award winner Paul Newman stated,

The Golden Age of Piracy began around 1650, and ended around 1730. Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence at sea, but can include acts committed on land, in the air, or in other major bodies of water or on a shore. It does not normally include crimes committed against persons traveling on the same vessel as the criminal. The term has been used throughout history to refer to raids across land borders by non-state agents. A pirate is one who commits robberies at sea, usually without being allotted to do so by any particular nation. The usual crime for piracy can include being hung, or publically executed. Some of the most famous pirates who were killed either because of piracy, or because of natural causes, are Barbarossa, Stede Bonnet, Anne Bonney, Sir Francis Drake, Captain Greaves, William Kidd, Jean Laffite, Sir Henry Morgan, Mary Read, and Giovanni da Verrazano.
Since the introduction of Disney films into our society, there has been a sea change
This is the moment narrator realizes that he was not about to kill a sick and unhealthy man, he sees that the man has some will to live left in him, something that he has not ever seen in a prisoner until now. Before the hanging of the man, the narrator notices the prisoner saying something:
The Reasons Behind the Popularity of Action Films In this essay I am going to explore the conventions of action films and their popularity. People love action films, and when they go to see one there are conventions you would expect to see in the film All plots of action films are based on the same outline, Hero and villain meet, there's a disruption of order, and mission, then everything is sorted out when the villain dies and everything returns to normal. There are Stock characters that you expect to see in this genre of film, the hero, the villain and two attractive ladies. The main action is around a male hero, however, modern films have featured female heroines for example Angelina Jolie in 'Tomb Raider'. If the hero is male he is always good looking, intelligent, brave, chauvinistic, and manages to escape from life threatening situations, however the hero will always have a weakness, and if the hero is male the weakness is normally women.
This story is about a boy named Jim Hawkins who lives at an inn that his mother and father run and watch over. So one normal day, a pirate looking man walked into the door for somewhere to stay in for a couple of nights. This pirate looking man was called the captain {Bill}, because he never told the Hawkins family what his real name was. So every day the inn family would provide him with food and shelter and Rum. He would always drink to much rum and he would become every drunk and inconsiderate of others.
Going to the movies is probably one of the most enjoyable pastimes throughout the world. From western society to the Asian countries, watching movies is pleasant for nearly anybody. I currently work at the local cinema. Therefore I have decided to study the culture of moviegoers. I looked at many different aspects within the past months. I took time for myself in small, little, breaks to study and document the actions of the people. From their attitudes entering and leaving the cinemas, to the way they behaved and even the way they clothed themselves. I will be going into the field with a general question in mind of what I wish to learn. “How do individuals respond to each other in a moving going experience?” I will also look into how families communicate to each other compared to how a group of friends interact. In contrast to that outsider or etic outlook at our moviegoers, I will take an insider or emic perspective of the site and actually go out on my days off work and watch a movie portraying an actual moviegoer while no one in this culture within Stars will suspect a thing.
Globalization is the spread of different political, economic and cultural trends to different parts of the world. (Stanford) American media has spread rapidly throughout the world, and at the forefront of the media blitz is film.
