There are seven core values that all physical therapist must have in order to be a well-rounded therapist. In order to serve others a therapist must be aware of the areas they need improvement on and what areas they are succeeding in. The seven core values include; altruism, integrity, professional duty, social responsibility, excellence, accountability, and caring/ compassion. After completing the core value self-assessment, I realized I am succeeding in the values altruism, integrity, and professional duty. I found that I need to work most on social responsibility. I also determined I am right in the middle of needing lots of improvement and succeeding with the values accountability, excellence, and care/compassion.

They all are about the doing what is best for the patient instead of the therapist. It is about doing the right thing even when a therapist does not want to. I do this not only when it comes to seeing the patients I have seen during the spring trimester, or during Dr. Parker shoulder community assessments. I also do this in the class room. I put my needs behind me as a student and work to making my peers feel special. I call it always need for improvement but not something that is in urgent need of improvement. Accountability, excellence, and caring/compassion, I scored mostly three and four on the assessment. APTA defines accountability as, "active acceptance of responsibility for the diverse roles, obligations, and actions of the physical therapist including self-regulation and other behaviors that positively influence patient outcomes, the professional and the health needs of society." I am good when it comes to owning up to my actions and showing up when I am supposed too. I always show up on time to class and will accomplish whatever is asked of me. I need to work on participating in health goals of society and continuous improvement in quality of care. I need to participate more in my community to find the needs so I can promote awareness of prevention and ways to improve on health.

APTA define excellence as, "physical therapy practice that consistently uses current knowledge and theory while understanding professional limits, integrates judgement and the patient perspective, challenges mediocrity, and works toward development new knowledge." I feel this is something I am good at since I am a student and consistently learning. I do feel that right now I am just doing the bare minimum. I am not trying to expand new knowledge of learning or develop new ways to treat
