In the play “The Crucible”, written by Arthur Miller, the events written took place in 1953 Salem, and Massachusetts Bay Colony. The major conflict in “The Crucible” was mainly the pondering questions of what was a truth, and what was a lie. Lies were to protect Abigail, Tituba, Mary Warren, Mercy, Betty, and Ruth who were involved in witchcraft. Those who told the truth would die, and those who lied, while although are in very risky situations, are momentarily safe. In the beginning of the play, in order to protect John Proctors reputation, he would refuse to testify against Abigail.The resolution is when John Proctor decides to end the enduring cycle of false allegations. He soon learns what is means to have a good reputation and be honorable,
