I'm writing my paper on what all goes into being a Secret Service Agent. This paper will explain what responsibilities Secret Service Agents have. What courses that they have to go through to become a Secret Service Agent. Most people hear the term Secret Service Agent and automatically think about the men in the suits and glasses guarding the President of The United States. That’s only a small portion of what Secret Service Agents do. A Secret Service Agent has two main missions; that I will mention later on. The United States Secret Service Agent is one of the oldest type of law enforcements in the country, but its ranked the best in the world. In 1901, the agency was asked to begin its protective mission after President William McKinley was assassinated. Today, the Secret Service protects both national leaders and the President and his Family. (History of Secret Service Agent.com). It's not all just protecting the president the whole time and just doing Crime Investigations. There are two types of jobs that Secret Service Agents have. 1. The Protective Mission- Protects the White House, Government Officials, President and his Family.2. The Investigative Mission- They investigate in fraud and stolen identity. Although there are two types of jobs Secret Service Agents have, there are also four different branches you could be working
On Lincoln last day in office he signed into law the creation of the Secret Service. The Secret Service main task was not protecting the President of the United States it was protecting the United States currency. Back in the 1800s counterfeiting was becoming a big problem with the new paper money. So they were tasked to stop it which one of the big counterfeiters Benjamin Boyd he was the one making the counterfeit money then giving it to a gang to sell it for half the face value, then they would try to put it
In today’s world, one could figuratively say that it takes an act of congress for the president to go anywhere. Today the secret service is highly trained to keep the president safe from any possible threat, but the level of security for the 20th president was nowhere near where it is for the 45th president. In the 1880’s, the president was looked at as “one of the people”, so security was not considered to be as important as it is today. This proves to be evident in chapters 10 and 11 when the shooting takes
The Secret Lives of Sgt. John Wilson, written by Lois Simmie, is a hybrid book featuring a nonfiction storyline with a personal, albeit fabricated, flare which gives us a glimpse into what the interior dialogue of the individuals involved the novel might have felt. The essence in focus centres around John Wilson, sometimes referred to as Jack, and the double life which he opts to play. Throughout the plot of the novel, personalities clash and emotions formerly unseen rise to the surface. One action is used as a recurring theme anchoring all of the chapters and events together, that being deception. Betrayal and deception by the hands of John Wilson were shown towards the main individuals of the novel, namely Polly, Elizabeth, and Jessie.

In order to become an FBI agent you have to work in law enforcement and work in homicide or be a person’s investigator. Who would hire me with these interests that I envelop? A local law enforcement, like the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office would hire me. If I decide to move I would work at law enforcement in Washington D.C. or in Virginia which is where the BAU’s company is. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s office is a growing company and their goal is to make our community safe. They are committed to providing a safer environment and enhancing the life for everyone in the county. They value respect, trust, and accou...
Protection is something we all want and or need. Whether it be a roof over your head, or even a bodyguard we all need some protection of some sort. One association that deals with more than one person and or problem, they deal with the safety of the whole United States, This is the CIA (or central intelligence agency or association). The job I want to do their is to be an agent, a agent at the CIA collects data from around the world to help protect the united states from an attack. In 1949, the Central Inteligence Agency Act (also called "Public Law 110") was passed, permitting the agency to use confidential fiscal and administrative procedures and exempting it from many of the usual limitations on the use of federal funds. The act also exempted the CIA from having to disclose its "organization, functions, officials, titles, salaries, or numbers of personnel employed." It also created a program called "PL-110" to handle defectors and other "essential aliens" outside normal immigration procedures, as well as give those persons cover stories and economic support. The Central Intelligence Agency reports to U.S. Congressional committees but also answers to the President directly. The National Security Advisor is a permanent cabinet member responsible for briefing the President on pertinent information collected from all U.S. intelligence agenci...
On April 14, 1865 President Lincoln created the Secret Service due to the fact that one third of the currency in circulation was counterfeit.
“In another case, six black Secret Service agents assigned to President Clinton's detail were refused a table at a Denny's in Annapolis. Md., while their white Secret Service colleagues were seated and served (Labaton, S. (1994, May 24)).”
In many communities it is said that many areas are starting to see an increase in private security officers coming in instead of police. With private organizations coming in to do police like work in order to keep the peace there is a question on the way they do things. Security officers can only
Responsibility. It can be examined as multiple things. Abraham Lincoln once said “you cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.” Which means no matter where you go or what you do you will always have some type of responsibility. Imagine yourself as a secret service agent. You have the responsibility of protecting the president of the United States. If anything was to happen to him the burden would be on that specific agent or even the whole cabal, which means you could lose respect or even the triumph of the situation. When this happens people trust you less, and people start thinking of you as a bad influence. Examples of responsibility, is following rules. It could be family rules, government rules such as obeying
Security guards are essential in almost every business; but in government facilities they provide a crucial service. Their presence not only deters crime coming from outside a facility, it also prevents criminal activity from happening within establishments. They are the first responders to incidents that require law enforcement assistance within a facility. Whether a situation is simple or dangerous, they respond and are responsible for the safety of the people and property that they are protecting. Security guards should be highly rewarded according to the services they provide as private defenders of the public.
They have a lot of different jobs that they are in charge of. They also have a lot of power. Unlike a police officer that has to have a warrant to search a person
As being police you have roles and duties to follow. Some of the roles are to serve and protect and investigate crimes.
Not all security guards are out in public, depending on position they can be watching through a camera. For example I would compare my quote to Dillard’s because they have cameras and security but security is looking through cameras and not physically there. “Security guards, also called security officers, protect property, enforce rules on the property and deter criminal activity”. Security guards are protection of a certain property to make sure rules are not broken. Rules are always broken that’s why you have a lower type of law enforcement. Being a security guard is important to understand because it requires a lot of dedication and it’s not only your life that can be in danger. You should always follow procedures and pay attention to your surrounding because you never know when or where danger lies.
