The Relationship Between Poor People and Poor Places

Poverty is seen as a group of different kinds of deprivation. These

forms

of deprivation are patterned by a series of urban processes, which

lead

to greater concentration of problems in particular places. The area

affects

poor people, because the experience of living in a poor area can make

people more vulnerable to poverty. People living in poor areas are

disadvantaged in their experiences and command over resources.

The concept of poverty is a contested one, and many different

constructions have been placed on it (Spicker, 1999). The relationship

between poor people and poor places is ever constant. Poverty implies

for some, a lack of resources, for others, a constellation of needs

(Baratz and Grigsby,1971), while for others, poverty is a social

position

related to the ability to participate in society (Townsend, 1979).

Poor communities are typically neglected, lacking the infrastructure

and services provided for the better of. Places where poor people live

present multiple disadvantages.

Main problems are problems of social relationships, gender relations,

economic status, lack of security and the capabilities of the poor.

All these social problems are factors in when you are poor and have

a direct relationship with living in poor places, because in poor

places

these are the problems that remain. Poor people can be seen to have

a direct relationship to poor places because of a process of

selection,

which exclude poor people from more desirable areas and leaves them

towards less desirable ones. Being poor and living...

there.

The social services are important in helping out a community in many

ways, by providing them with money, employment and other benefits.

There are many other organisations that help regenerate poor places

and give assistance to the poor.

There is a relationship between poor people and poor places. Wherever

there is poor people in a particular area, problems will arise. Poor

places

are evident by the characteristics they posses which I have explained

in

this essay. In this essay I have defined the term 'poverty' which is

being poor and living in poor places by where everyday needs cannot be

met. I have also covered other factors regarding poor people and poor

places. In the conclusion in this essay I can say that there is a

relationship

between poor people and poor places.
