Introduction My initial reaction to the self-assessment was that it seemed a little simplistic. Knowing that it was only 24 questions, it didn 't feel sufficient enough to be able to accurately determine the level and areas of intelligence that one would process. One aspect that I did find interesting was the ever-changing criteria between the four pages of questions. While one focused and how often the participant engaged in certain activities, another focused of the enjoyment gained from different activities, while yet another was based on how likely one was to engage in said activity. To simplify, this assessment attempted to determine the participants basic activities, the intensity of feeling toward activities, and their desire/willingness …show more content…
By focusing on my interpersonal intelligence (mainly), I would benefit from working with a group and trying to establish a leadership position in the group. This would allow me to utilize and further develop my interpersonal skills specifically by trying to integrate some of the techniques offered in class and in the text. Additionally, I 'm considering taking my group out to eat in the cafeteria or alternatively, have the group meet up early for class where I 'll bring some donuts or some other kind of treat. Reason being, that it should create a more relaxed atmosphere where we grow more familiar and friendly with one another. This would serve to create a sense of obligation to one-another to complete our respective assignments as well as potentially build the way for a continued friendship beyond the life of this class. 3. By focusing on my intrapersonal intelligence, I 'd implement a schedule so I can insure that I don 't fall back in class. Moreover, I 'd make sure to give myself extra time to finish my work and, for the remaining scheduled time, I 'd spend the time contemplating how I could integrate some of the information to my current life and my future career path. This would serve as a good reminder that am in college to develop skills and not memorize
The Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment with a fun experience that provided very useful information about myself. The questions were interesting and thought provoking. However, the time limit on each question meant that most responses were my first instinct or gut response. I think the time limit keeps a person from over thinking the questions and makes them respond with an answer that is true to who they are. I agree with the five strongest areas identified in my assessment which were strategic, futuristic, learner, command, and ideation (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006)
Moreover, I learned the act of administering an assessment of this nature in a one-on-one setting. As a future teacher, I will need to assess my students informally, formally, and quite frequently. This particular assessment was great practice. Something to consider is completing running records in a
Zhou states that interpersonal intelligence “is the ability to interpret and respond to the moods, emotions, motivations, and actions of others. Interpersonal intelligence also requires good communication and interaction skills, and the ability show empathy towards the feelings of other individuals” (Zhou 80.) Even though I enjoy spending time alone, I also thrive in a social setting. Parties with friends, or meetings with peers provide me with the opportunity to show my leadership and organization skills. Anytime I am put into a group situation I usually end up in a leadership position. If I were to teach a student who succeeds in a social setting I would, provide class discussions and provide assistance when needed. If I were to implement a student centered unit, I would provide group projects or group work, collaboration between the students, peer feedback and tutoring, or have the students present their work to the
Intelligence tests have been developed by scientists as a tool to categorize army recruits or analyze school children. But still discussing what intelligence is, academics have a difficult time defining what intelligence tests should measure. According to the American researcher Thorndike, intelligence is only that what intelligence tests claim it is (Comer, Gould, & Furnham, 2013). Thus, depending on what is being researched in the test and depending on the scientist’s definition of intelligence the meaning of the word intelligence may vary a lot. This essay will discuss what intelligence is in order to be able to understand the intelligence theories and aims of intelligence tests.
Human intelligence is an eel-like subject: slippery, difficult to grasp, and almost impossible to get straight [3]. Many scientist and psychologist have made numerous attempts to come up with an explanation for the development of human intelligence. For many years, there has been much controversy over what intelligence is and whether it is hereditary or nurtured by the environment. Webster's dictionary defines intelligence as "the ability to acquire and apply knowledge; which includes a sensing an environment and reaching conclusions about the state of that environment [7]. In this paper I am going to examine the factors, which make up ones intelligence. I will be investigating whether or not intelligence is fostered by genetic heritance or nurtured by ones environment.
I found this assessment extremely useful since it helped me see my weaknesses and strengths clearer. Knowing what my strengths and weaknesses are helps me know what sort of emotions or habits I need to be careful of and what qualities I can improve and/or
The mind-body problem has troubled many thinkers for centuries because it is not clear if mind and body interact with each other and/or how they interact with each other. Dualists ' claim is that the mind is a non-physical thing because it is impossible to be explained by physics; therefore, mind is different from the body. However, Dualism does not clearly explain what a non-physical mind is, and it simply ignores the fact that many ideas were thought to be impossible one day but now they are proven by physics. In fact, it has been proven that human behaviors change when something, like a damage, occur in the brain. Even though laws of physics cannot explain mind in physical ways, it does not mean that mind is non-physical. Because science improves and discovers new things, it is possible and very likely that the mind will be explained by scientists one day and it will be proven that the mind is, in fact, physical. When scientists learn about the relationship between mind and body, they will be able to
Thesis Statement: The most differences between the idiographic and nomothetic approach are measurements and development.
I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.
The true nature of intelligence has been debated more intensely then ever over the last century. As the science of psychology has developed one of the biggest questions it had to answer concerned the nature of Intelligence. Some of the definitions that have been given for intelligence have been the ability to adjust to one’s environment. Of course by such a definition even a person who is generally considered to be dull can be regarded as being intelligent if he can take care of himself. Other definition is such as having the tendency to analyze things around yourself. However it can be argued that such behavior can lead to over-analyzing things and not reacting to one’s environment and dealing with it in an intelligent manner.
During my initial self-evaluation and assessment of me as a perspective counselor, self- awareness was an essential aspect of becoming an effective counselor. I am aware of certain things that can prevent me from becoming a competent counselor such as being unaware of my strengths and weaknesses. As a current community support worker, I have already had the opportunity to work with individuals who require different levels of support. Providing assistance to the specific population has given me the chance to utilize my communication skills. My work experience has also allowed me to be more self-aware, and open minded. After taking the techniques of counseling class I am more than confident that I have grown professionally since the beginning
In 1983, Howard Gardner a Harvard professor proposed the theory that individual can have multiple ways of learning and processing information. The multiple intelligences consist of 9 different ways and these include: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, existential, musical, naturalistic, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. Every individual has a different amount of each intelligence but each intelligence is at a varying level. With the help of a multiple intelligences assessment, I found that my top three multiple intelligences are Intrapersonal, logical, and interpersonal. Within his research Gardner says that “Intrapersonal intelligence refers to people’s ability to recognize and assess those same characteristics
One item that really comes in handy is a calendar. This can be very helpful and it will be your best friend when attending college and, even after college. Out of all the things in this essay, I believe this is the most important. The reason I consider this to be vital is due to the fact that if you don’t stay organized then how are supposed to keep up with when assignments are due. Consequently, if you don’t know the due dates are then how are you going to stay ahead in your classes or study properly for your tests and quizzes. This shows that checking your calendar daily helps you stay alert for any assignments due. Also, if you are forgetful, like me, then you can, also, keep reminders on your phone or on a sticky note or wherever needed
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.
Personality is the expression of a person’s traits according to ones feelings, mentality and behavior. It involves understanding individuals’ traits such as withdrawal and willpower and how various parts of an individual link together to form personality. Personality expresses itself from within an individual and is comparatively regular throughout in an individual’s life. Different people have different personalities dependent on factors such as environment and genetic composition. Our personality is dependent on the success or failure of our development in the eight stages of life. This is proposed by Erik Erikson. Success in the development stages lead to virtues while the failure leads to malignancies.
