Throughout the centuries there have always been children abused by either their parents, guardian, or an adult. People often wonder why a man or woman would want to harm a child and many programs are out there that do their best to prevent child abuse. The best prevention however of first asking the question, what are the causes of child abuse? Child abuse is often the result of stress or anger issues, psychological disorders, or the cause of the person having been abused as a child themselves.
Some people cannot handle the responsibilities and obligations a parent must fulfill. Children, especially toddlers, need constant care and supervision putting a lot of weight on the parent. Single parents may feel this stress even more iif they do not have outside help from a family member or good friend dince they must also work as well as take care of their child or children whereas families with two parents are able to share the burdens of child rearing even if both have jobs. Another stress inducer is when moeny problems become prominent or a sudden tragedy has happened in the household. When money is an issue panic can set in causing the parent or guardian to lash out on the child. Money problems can also lead to child neglect if the parent is incapable of providing the basic needs of the child. Sudden tragedies in a home that can lead to abuse are unexpected deaths or medical emergencies such as an expensive operation or high maintenance care, others include a parent leaving the home, the loss of a job, or even of a child is mentally or physically handicapped. Deaths and medical emergencies can take a huge emotional toll on the family, without proper care the parent or guardian of the children may take their sorrows and pain out...

...e child emotionally and physically and is perhaps the hardest to overcome, because of the significant impact it has on the child it will affect the way they behave for the rest of their life. Without good counselling a child that has been sexually harmed will often have a severe negative body image of themselves, leading to them to distrust people and cover themselves up as much as they can, or they feel the need to seek approval of their image and may go the entire opposite way; looking for attention and doing whatever it takes to obtain it. Either way this leads them on a dangerous road and many times it doesn’t have a happy ending.
Child abuse simulates from severe stress and anger issues, psychological disorders, or someone having experienced child abuse in their own life. If people recognize the causes of child abuse we become one step closer to preventing it.
Child abuse is caused by a parent, for many reasons, and can lead to many kinds of problems for the child. Parents impose child abuse for many reasons such as psychological problems to low self esteem to alcohol or drug abuse.4 Child abuse happens for many different reasons but all the reasons are still child abuse, and are taken seriously. Child abuse can also occur when parents have too high of expectation of their kids which then leads to abuse. "Abusive parents may show disregard for the child's own needs, limited abilities, and feelings."5 Disregarding children's needs can include a neglect ion. Children need parental advice and for parents to fulfill all their needs.
Children have resilience unlike any other group of people. They have the ability to heal quicker than someone does that has a better understanding of what it is to heal. Yet, when a child is sexual abused, something happens to that resilience. It isn’t as easy to pull through. That healing doesn’t come as easy and the damage that is caused by sexual abuse to a child is long-term. Effects of childhood sexual abuse are extensive. This extensive damage can lead to a number of different outlets. These outlets tend to be destructive.
This paper outlines the consequences of child sexual abuse (CSA) based on the examination of results from multiple researches previously fulfilled concerning the psychological and physical impact of this crime, information of statistics, warning signs detected, victims’ performances, and emotional state. Sexual abuse causes severe trauma on child victims that will last for the course of their lives, therefore it is critical to identify and improve the therapeutic methods utilized to treat CSA survivors.
Child abuse, while having many different forms and levels of severity, can be basically defined as the maltreatment of a child by a parent or other adult. When one thinks of child abuse, usually the first thing that comes to mind is physical harm, but the issue is actually much more complex. The abuse of a child can also be manifested in verbal and emotional forms, as well as in sexual molestation. All forms of child abuse generally result in similar emotional disorders and behavioral issues, but the major consequences of sexual abuse, such as mental or emotional scarring, promiscuity, and the tendency of former victims to become sexual abusers, cause it to be the most severely damaging form of child abuse.
Child Abuse is an extremely significant conflict around the world; it is the physical maltreatment or sexual molestation of a child. There are 4 main types of victimization against children. Those containing physical, emotional, sexual abuse and neglect. Physical abuse is when a parent or guardian wounds their child in the form of injuring them or in any other manner causing them agony. Emotional abuse also recognized as mental abuse is when they mentally upset a child’s feelings that may generate trauma. Sexual abuse can probably be characterized as someone forcing a child in an act of unwanted sexual relationships. Neglect is the form of not providing a child with their basic physical and emotional necessities. Most people are forming organizations to prevent from future child abuse occurring but most people are also not getting involved in such dangerous crimes. Usually more than 90% of abusers tend to be people children know, love, or trust, according to Bright Futures 4 Kids.

People may not be aware, but any one of their peers, friends, or neighbors may be victims of child abuse. Every day, someone experiences physical, emotional, neglect, and/or sexual abuse. Abuse can lead to death or injury for the rest of a victim's life, from either the perpetrator or themselves. In order to prevent child abuse society must: recognize the types of abuse, understand common causes of abuse, know the characteristics of abusers, and realize the effects abuse has, not just on the child, but on families and communities across the world.
Child abuse is the physical, sexual, emotional mistreatment or neglect of a child. Child abuse is not only physical, but it is sexual, mental and emotional abuse. Child abuse is more than just bumps and bruises. It is also abuse that can not be seen. There are several cases of child abuse in the United States. Babbel (2011) reported twelve out of every 1,000 children up to age 18 in the United States were found to be victims of maltreatment in 2005. Susanne Babbel, Ph.D. (2011) found in 2006, approximately 905,000 children were abused that year. Babbel (2011) stated, 16% of those children were physically abused and the remaining 84% were sexually abused. Many cases are reported by teachers and caregivers, but some cases never get reported until it is too late and the child gets abused to death. Susan Babbel (2015) reported in her article that about 1,460 children died in 2005 from abuse and neglect. Physical abuse can be easily detected. If there are suspected marks or bruises on a child, then there is a good possibility the child may be neglected. On the other hand, sexual, mental and emotional abuse are not easy to recognize.
Child maltreatment is a widespread issue that affects thousands of children every year. There are four common types of child maltreatment; sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect. All of these types of abuse are very serious and can have many consequences for the children and families. The most common consequence of severe child maltreatment is the removal of that child from their home (Benbenishty, Segev, Surkis, and Elias, 2002). Most social workers trying to determine the likelihood of removal evaluate the type and severity of abuse, as well as the child’s relationship with their parents (Benbenishty et al., 2002). When children are removed from their homes there are many options of alternative housing. The places they are allowed to live are a relative’s home, foster home, or a group home. In a study of children removed from their homes, 68% went to a foster home rather than a relative or another form of alternative housing (Faller, 1991). Reunification with a parent is the most common goal that is set forth by Child Protective Services even though recurrent abuse is likely to happen based upon the prior type of abuse and the age of the child (Connell et al., 2009). Child maltreatment is becoming a prevalent problem that has numerous consequences for both the child and family.
We’ll start with child abuse victims and the affects and reasons of this abuse. There are four types of child abuse and I will list them in order from least to greatest, neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Neglect takes first with the NCVS having 54% reports of child neglect in 2007. Neglect is a very serious form of abuse it is the failure for a parent or guardian to provide for a child’s basic needs, including physical and educational needs. We grow and development drastically in the first twelve years of our life so when parental guidance and love is absent it affects a child’s developmental skills along with learning right from wrong. Many forms of neglect occur in larger households and with households with domestic violence. Many parents with multiple kids become too busy focusing on the older children they tend to forget the youngest one. So it’s common for a three year old to walk out of the front door and on to the street when no one is there to tell him or...
Child abuse is any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse, or exploitation, or an act of failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2012a) (Olson, Defrain, & Skogrand, 2014, p. 437). Abuse can happen to anyone at any time, even children of all ages. The abuse can be given by anyone. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, nearly 1,500 children died from abuse or neglect in 2003, in the latest year for which reasonably reliable statistics are available (March 2006) (Dudley, 2008). That is four children every day and that estimated number is probably low
According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) (n.d.), the causes of child abuse are 1) poverty, 2) less education, 3) unemployment, 4) changes in address, 5) marital problems, 6) lack of support, and 7) isolation. These factors are not only individual problems, but also social problems. Also, factors are considered to be interrelated to each other. For instance, parents in poverty are at higher risk of abused their children because they are more likely to struggle with economic problems because of unemployment. They are less likely to have stable jobs because of lack of education.
According to Victim of Crimes, “ A child who is the victim of prolonged sexual abuse usually develops low self-esteem, a feeling of worthlessness and an abnormal or distorted view of sex. The child may become withdrawn and mistrustful of adults, and can become suicidal.” The damage done to a child sex abuse victim is terminal and cannot be reversed. They can receive counseling, or go to a support group, or even take medication. Though all of these things can be done, it cannot reverse the damage that has been done.
Child abuse is a very serious problem that continues to happen all over the world. The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, defines child abuse as a failure to act as a parent or caregiver which results in physical/emotional harm, sexual abuse, and in some cases death. There are many different types of child abuse such as emotional, physical, neglect, and sexual. With each type of abuse there are warning signs you can spot before it is too late. When a child is abused there is a huge possibility that it can cause them to have many long term effects.
