The focus of this paper is to discuss the different characteristics of the two most effective methods of child births: Natural births and Cesarean section (C-section). Child birth includes labor and delivery; the entire process of passage from the womb, to the birth canal, to the outside world. Natural birth is a method of child birth in which medical interventions are minimal and the mother usually practices relaxation and breathing techniques to minimize pain during delivery. Cesarean section (c-section) is a method of birth which involves delivery through incisions in the abdominal walls and uterus. Natural births and C-sections both pose documented medical risks to the mother’s health including infections and other medical mishaps (Rowe- Murray 2002).
Introduction
Giving birth is a memorable moment however it could be a very trying experience as well. Childbirth can be overwhelming depending on the mother’s health and medical history. The main objective of this paper is to compare and contrast the pros and cons of each method of childbirth. Information will also be obtained about natural childbirths and C-sections. The information used to compare and contrast natural births and C-sections are the two types of birthing method that was gathered from two research articles pertaining to natural births and c- sections. There will be a significant difference in the birthing methods because each method has a different impact on the mother’s body (Dewey 2003). The purpose of this paper is to gain knowledge of what natural childbirth and c- sections are and how they affect the woman’s body.

A Lamaze class is a class for expecting parents to find out information about childbirth. The purpose of these courses is to give childbearing mothers more confidence in their capacity to give birth. In addition, it teaches them how to deal with the pain, the process of labor, breathing techniques, and how to provide comfort (Mothers Advocate, 2009). This method was developed by a French doctor named Dr. Fernand Lamaze, he constructed a method of pain relief, derived from Pavlov’s principles. He formed the type of psych prophylactic method during his surveillance in the Soviet Union (Lothian, 2009). These classes focus on the participants and their Lamaze partners, and teaching the, dynamic relaxation techniques and breathing to ease the anxiety of labor and birth. Usually these classes are conducted over six to eight weeks (Mothers Advocate, 2009). Ultimately, Lamaze classes attempt to replace their negative presumption pertaining to pregnancy and the birth process with optimistic, learned responses and managing skills. Additionally, Lamaze classes focus on breastfeeding and the importance of it.

My daughter’s name is Peyton Lynn Hetherington. Peyton had a normal birth. Labor was about ten hours long, and given naturally. A natural birth is a group of techniques aimed at reducing pain and medical intervention and making childbirth as rewarding as possible (Harris, Sara). I am proud that my "team" could make use of the natural childbirth breathing and relaxation techniques. My partner and myself were amazed at our angel Peyton. My partner and I are adapting well thus far with the new addition to our family. We are taking turns with Peyton and my partner has been very helpful.

Abortion is a voluminous topic today all around the world. Differing viewpoints on abortion are recognized in politics, religion, and throughout the general population. There is a small amount of people who are nonchalant on the subject. Women have abortions for many different reasons and according to certain groups these reasons are either justified or not. Everyone tends to have their own articulated opinion, and many vocalize tenaciously what they believe. Pro-life individuals along with religion are sanguine that abortion is ethically and morally erroneous. Whereas those who are pro-choice say that abortion is inconsequential and the mother’s choice is more important than the fetus. Reasons to not get an abortion include risks involved in receiving an abortion. In some cases death can occur. However, there are other alternatives to abortion. For example, raising the child and adoption.
In a pluralistic culture of unwanted pregnancy, there exists a contradiction between a relative sense of morality and the democratic ideal of free choice. Aristotle provided the first written record of this irresolvable contradiction in his book Politics, saying, "When couples have children in excess, let abortion be procured before sense and life have begun; what may or may not be lawfully done in these cases depends on the question of life and sensation." (1) The controversy has always consisted of two sides: "Pro-Lifers", who believe that abortion is morally wrong and should not be allowed, and "Pro-Choicers", who support the woman's right to choose the outcome of her pregnancy in all cases. There is also a large group of people who fall somewhere in between, believing that abortion should only be allowed under certain circumstances. To this day, abortion continues to be a topic of dispute, with each side offering many of the same arguments that have been offered for several millennia. Those concerned with the issue saw this played out most recently in the presidential election, a very close race in which abortion was a key factor in many citizens' votes.
Worldwide, the rate of cesarean section is increasing. According to the CDC, in 2012 the rate of cesarean sections comprised 32.8% of all births in the United States (CDC, 2013). Between 1996-2009 the cesarean section rate has risen 60% in the U.S (CDC, 2013). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 50% of the 137 countries studies had cesarean section rates higher than 15% (WHO, 2010). The current goal of U.S. 2020 Healthy People is to reduce the rate of cesarean section to a target of 23.9%, which is almost 10% lower than the current rate (Healthy People 2020, 2013). According to a study conducted by Gonzales, Tapia, Fort, and Betran (2013), the appropriate percentage of performed cesarean sections is unclear, and is dependent on the circumstances of each individual birth (p. 643). Though often a life-saving procedure when necessary, the risks and complications associated with cesarean delivery are a cause for alarm due to the documented rate increase of this procedure across the globe. Many studies have revealed that cesarean deliveries increase the incidence of maternal hemorrhage and mortality and neonatal respiratory distress when compared to vaginal deliveries. As a result, current research suggests that efforts to reduce the rate of non-medically indicated cesarean sections should be made, and that comprehensive patient education should be provided when considering an elective cesarean delivery over a planned vaginal delivery.
Over the years birthing methods have changed a great deal. When technology wasn’t so advanced there was only one method of giving birth, vaginally non-medicated. However, in today’s society there are now more than one method of giving birth. In fact, there are three methods: Non-medicated vaginal delivery, medicated vaginal delivery and cesarean delivery, also known as c-section. In the cesarean delivery there is not much to prepare for before the operation, except maybe the procedure of the operation. A few things that will be discussed are: the process of cesarean delivery, reasons for this birthing method and a few reasons for why this birthing method is used. Also a question that many women have is whether or not they can vaginally deliver after a cesarean delivery, as well as the risks and benefits if it. Delivering a child by a c-section also has a few advantages and disadvantages for both the mother and child; this will also be discussed in more depth a bit later.
