When it comes to creating a mini-me of myself to save my sister there is not a single doubt in my mind. I realize since cloning is still fairly new that there would be a lot of risks involved in doing such a route. However, sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and that is exactly what I would be doing. Creating a mini-me might seem unethical to some, but what if it is in fact just the latest development of science.
The first basic kind of cloning is therapeutic cloning. Therapeutic can be used in combination with stem cell therapy. “The reason is that even if it were possible to direct embryonic stem cells to make tissue needed to treat a disease or injury, this tissue would be subject to immunological rejection by a patient’s body.” (Mackinnon, Therapeutic Cloning, 2012) There are many concerns surrounding stem cell research in fact many people protest against it because they feel so strongly in their ethics. It is my belief that stem cell research is eventually going to end up saving a lot of people lives.
The second kind of cloning is reproductive cloning. This type of cloning is described as “somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) because it transfers the nucleus of a somatic or bodily cell into an egg …show more content…

However, “The key ethical issue with therapeutic cloning is the moral status of the cloned embryo, which is created solely for destruction. The ethical issues with reproductive cloning include genetic damage to the clone, health risks to the mother, very low success rate meaning loss of large numbers of embryos and fetuses, psychological harm to the clone, complex altered familial relationships, and commodification of human life.” (Cloning, 2013) Although we may be helping people here on earth who are in need of certain bodily organs just like any medical procedure it includes several risks.
