Twenty-four million people are being forced into labor, sexual exploitation, and domestic servitude throughout the world right now (hopeforjustice.org). Human trafficking is a serious crime and a violation of human rights. Every year, thousands of men, women, and children fall into the hands of traffickers (hopeforjsutice.org). Human trafficking is a problem that affects every part of the world, and it is important to recognize the components of this problem and the possible solutions that can be taken. Human trafficking has a massive effect on our world today. Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit, or destination for victims (unodc.org). Trafficking is done to exploit a person. (hopeforjustice.org) One reason that human trafficking is done is because it is low risk. Human traffickers believe that there is little risk or deterrence to affect their criminal operations. While investigations and penalties have increased throughout recent years, many traffickers still believe the high profit margin to be worth the risk. Factors that add to low risk include: lack of government and law enforcement training, low community awareness, ineffective or unused laws, lack of law enforcement investigation, scarce resources for victim recovery services, and social blaming of victims. Another reason that trafficking exists is because of its high profits. When individuals are willing to buy commercial sex, they create a market and make it profitable for traffickers to sexually exploit children and adults. When consumers are willing to buy goods and services from industries that rely on forced labor, they create a profit for labor traffickers to maximize revenue with low production costs. We believe freedom is worth the fight. We believe justice is non-negotiable. We refuse to abandon the least, the last and the lost. We challenge apathy with action. We choose to greet cynicism with hope. We are purposeful, passionate and pioneering. (hopeforjustice.org)
Hope for Justice currently works in four countries and the donations that they receive are directed toward whichever life-changing programs is most in need. They work hard to make sure that each program works to the highest standards and results in the greatest number of people being rescued and restored. Hope for Justice is primarily funded by private individuals, a small number of trusts and partnerships with churches. (hopeforjustice.org) You can be sure that every penny you donate works hard to bring freedom, justice and restoration to victims of human
Globalization can be defined as the “development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free-trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets that transcend nation-state boundaries”. As the world becomes a more integrated society we are more readily able to share goods, services, ideas, and technology. Furthermore, we are able to move more freely between nations. With this freedom there comes prosperity for people, companies and entire countries as we can now gain access to things we never had before. But as we expand our ideas and make it easier to cross borders, those with malicious and deceptive intentions are slipping through and committing heinous crimes that all too often go unnoticed.

27 million people all over the world are currently being forced into human trafficking or modern day slavery, 161 countries including the US will be affected by human trafficking. 1 million children will be exploited by the commercial sex trade each year. Sex trafficking began in the 1700s in the United States. It hasn’t been stopped because it continues to increase over the years. Even though the law enforcement and people around the world could be strong enough to stop human trafficking, I believe this situation needs to be more focused on and stopped as soon as possible. Because Human Trafficking is increasing rapidly and Oklahoma is a cross-way for sex trafficking due to the interstates such as I-35, I-40 and I-44.
Human trafficking victims can be forced to do different things such as physical labor and prostitution. The things that usually are key to trafficking are that the victims are vulnerable to anything that involves a better life or involving moving into the U.S. The main reason is that they suffer from poverty; the victims want to help their family with money and are open to whatever way there is to get money. In addition, many in Mexico risk their lives to come to the U.S. hoping that they can find work. They go through parts of Mexico that are considered to have the most violence with drugs, cartels and trafficking are then most often caught by the cartels and have no other choice but to be a slave working to pay off their “debt” that they have to the cartels. Also the traffickers use everything because the victims are vulnerable, to control the victims often the victims are being belittled by their traffickers, many people that suffered sometimes tell...
Summary: We see that there are many different aspects and types of human trafficking that everyone should be made aware of. As a whole human trafficking is a lucrative industry raking in $150 BILLION globally. The impact that this industry has on its victims is
Human trafficking is a global problem that affects the lives of millions of people in almost every country of the world, and which deprives them of their human dignity. As one of the most infamous crimes in the world, human trafficking misleads and turns women, men and children to fall victims from all corners of the world every day. It also leads to their exploitation. Although best known form of human trafficking is sexual exploitation, hundreds of thousands of victims are also trafficked for forced labor, forced labor as domestic servants, child begging, or the removal of organs. Basically, human trafficking means to displace individuals and force them to provide a service against their will.
Human trafficking is among the fastest growing categories of crime in the world right now, rivaled only by the drug and weapons industries. A 32 billion dollar global enterprise annually, its effects are far reaching and highly damaging to all involved. In reality, “human trafficking” is essentially a politically correct term for slavery. Through books, articles, and interviews, the two phrases are used interchangeably and are used to mean the same exact thing. There is an endless list of myths and misconceptions in regards to human trafficking, but I plan to keep all the information here very clear and concise. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, “Human trafficking is the acquisition of people by improper means such as force, fraud or deception, with the aim of exploiting them.” (1) This means that innocent people are taken from their homes and families, kept in secret and forced to work for their captor or whomever they are sold to. This work may be physical labor and it may be sexual in nature. The living conditions are usually harsh, and it is not uncommon for the captor (or
What are the causes of human trafficking? The main thing that causes people to be sex trafficked is money. Men who do the trafficking profit from it highly. Sex traffickers make over 32billion a year trafficking women and children. This is the 3rd highest paid industry in the world and the worst industry in the world. Parents who are poor often sell their children to men thinking they would have a better life if the children got away from there. In reality, the children and women are sold into slavery. Poor people in different countries are usually the first victims. They are told lies like, their families wi...
One of the biggest problems plaguing the earth and its inhabitants today is the act of human trafficking. Human trafficking is the trade of humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others. Over the years, trafficking has been fueled by poverty and gender discrimination. Such as countries with a high poverty rate may be at a higher risk of human trafficking.
Human trafficking is a very big problem in the United States but there is not very much awareness for it, even with 100,000 children estimated to be in the sex trade in the United States each year. Human trafficking is a criminal industry that is driven based on the supply and demand. It is fueled by the need for cheap workers and commercial sex. A human trafficker is someone who victimizes others to make a profit. This market thrives because there is a low risk of getting in trouble, and has high profits. There are people who are willing to buy commercial sex and they are making the market. They make it profitable for the human traffickers. It is low risk because there is little awareness to the issue. People do not know how to deal with the problem when it happens. There is no help for the victims of the trafficking. Law enforcement is not investigating and prosecuting the crimes, so there is no reason for those who do it to not continue. Left unchecked, human trafficking will proceed to thrive in situations where traffickers can receive considerable financial increases with low danger of being caught. (Polaris Project)
Human trafficking is a form of slavery, forcing victims to engage in sexual activities and labors against their will. These activities can be taken place through force, fraud, or constraint. Human trafficking is not just affecting one group of people, it is a worldwide issue, affecting all different ages, genders, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. Human trafficking is such an immense problem, apprehending the true size, knowing how to help, and how to keep the issue from reoccurring. Human trafficking is and is still becoming such a serious issue that something needs to be done about.
One of the main causes of human trafficking is vulnerability. For example, children are more vulnerable to trafficking because of their lack of understanding and experience. Additionally, in certain societies, women are less empowered than men thus resulting in gender inequality both at home and in the workplace. Gender inequality then leads to easy exploitation through the use of force or threats. Human trafficking can be curbed by combating the underlying causes that make people vulnerable.
Why does human trafficking exists? you may ask. Well i wouldn 't know how to answer that. The most brutal form of sex trafficking is the commercial exploitation of children. Little girls are raped and tortured to such an extent that their reproductive system is permanently damaged taking away their natural right to being a mother. The incidents of sexual exploitation among young boys are rarely heard of because of the complete failure on our part to acknowledge its existence which is mostly caused by the idea that there can never be male victims. The practice of bacha bazi in Afghanistan and launda nach in India, where boys dress up as girls and entertain men, provides a better perception into the world of male sex slavery and prostitution. Beside the fact that there are many religions that encourage this type of exploitation. There is also another type of trafficking or more like a better reason why there is many situations of human trafficking across the world. Not only is it for working purposes or sexual exploitations but also for selling different types of
Human trafficking, or the selling and buying of people, is a well-hidden yet prominent issue within today’s society. It is both an immoral and horrific topic that needs brought to attention and dealt with. When human beings are manipulated into work, sexual servitude, or economic hardship, human trafficking is occurring. In the year of 2006, only one individual is convicted of human trafficking per 800 victims (UNGIFT). By looking at straight statistics, reasons human trafficking happens, and the toll it has on people, it is very clear that this is a major issue that is happening in our world.
Human trafficking is a topic that is not discussed very often in society. Many people fail to realize that human trafficking still exists today. Human trafficking violates basic human rights. It takes away the freedom and security of men, women, and children world wide. The diversity and widespread execution of human trafficking make it difficult to regulate and prosecute.
