There came a time in our great city when our beloved King had passed and his son Prince Azgid was required to take the throne and lead his people. Prior to the grand event of crowning the Prince, the venerable Vizer took him up to the scared place where the Prince would have to prove himself worthy of Kingly responsibilities. This where I come in, I am the Lion Adur-Ser, a guardian of this great city and one of my duties is to prepare the Prince to take his rightful place. When the Vizer brought him to me, I rose and greeted him with a loud challenging roar. It was too much for the young man. I saw him stagger back and he reeked of fear. He was not ready to take the mantle of the King. He then requested a few days to prepare and the Vizer granted it, but come the dawn, I heard that my dear Prince had departed the city. I pray that he will find peace with himself and speed back to take his rightful place for his people. It takes a lot of courage and boldness to step out of your comfort zone to stand up for yourself and what you believe in. This is clearly shown in the movie, Secondhand Lions, directed by Tim McCanlies, when 14 year-old Walter is dropped off by his irresponsible mother for an unannounced visit with his two great-uncles, Garth and Hub. Walter is dumped with his uncles for the summer because his Vegas-bound floozy of a mother, Mae, decides to attend court reporting school, but ends up engaged to a guy in Vegas. With the bad influence of his mother and a lack of a father figure, Walter has never learned how to stand up for himself but his uncles soon teach him that. As the movie continues, Walter changes from his timid self into someone bold and gallant.

In “The Secret Lion,” Alberto Alvaro Rios establishes the theme as loss of innocence in a young boy. The narrator brings to life a boy who must leave behind his youthful perceptions about girls, the arroyo, and his green haven. All preconceptions are shattered, and each glimpse of bliss is taken away. Through this the boy gains perspective, and begins to see the world with a new awareness. Rios ingrains the loss of innocence theme through the eyes of a twelve-year-old boy who exhibits maturity, autonomy, and disillusionment.

The book ‘Lions of the West’ by Robert Morgan talks about how important historical events shaped America. Morgan’s main claims in this book are accurate and he explains them by sources and stating famous persons who impacted westward expansion. By referring to these persons and sources he is showing a great understanding of the topic. His two claims are that heroes and villains make up the history of western expansion, as well as normal citizens.

What makes a classic? How can we test fantasy literature to see if it is, or can be a classic for all ages? Two important factors to consider in these questions are how good and evil are depicted and explained to the audience. Is the villain evil for evils sake? Or does the villain believe he is in the right under bad circumstances? We must also consider how the author uses narrative voice to tell their story to the audience. The key properties of a ruler are represented by Machiavelli in details and the inner and outer effects of the success in ruling are mentioned. One of the most important topics in The Prince is about the relationship of skillfulness (virtù) of the ruler and his good or bad chance (fortune) and their effects on gaining and keeping the power. The Chronicles of Narnia are veritably the most popular writings of C.S. Lewis. They are known as children’s fantasy literature, and have found favor in older students and adults alike, even many Christian theologians enjoy these stories from Lewis; for there are many spiritual truths that one can gleam from them, if familiar with the Bible. However, having said this, it is noteworthy to say that Lewis did not scribe these Chronicles for allegorical didactics of the Christian faith, but wrote them in such a well-knit fashion that young readers might understand Christian doctrine through captivating fantasy and thus gain an appreciation for it. With this in mind, and in the interest of this assignment, the purpose of this paper is an attempt to analyze one of the many doctrines of the Christian faith from The Lion, The Witch, And, The Wardrobe (LWW), namely, temptation and how Lewis illustrates it through an individual character, Edmund.
Many have heard of the classic tale of Beowulf, the heroic slayer of monsters and dragons. Nevertheless, few have read the story of how he ventured from his own land to help a neighboring tribe battle a “. . . God-cursed brute. . .” (Lawall 1182) and his mother, a “. . . a monstrous hell-bride, . .” (1208). After single-handedly ridding Heorot, the neighboring kingdom, of two such evil creatures, he travels back to his own homeland to retell his deeds to his king (1219). Many years and feuds later, the kingdom was inherited by Beowulf, who grew old ruling his tribe with wisdom (1227). But, after he thinks that he has become invincible in his strength and ability to fight any wrong, a dragon wakens and wrecks havoc on the land (1230). With eleven young warriors at his back, Beowulf kills the fearsome dragon, although he is also slain in the process (1237, 1238).

The first thing that must be addressed is the reality that animation is on par with film. It is quite literally art. The amount of effort, talent, and imagination that goes into the story is nothing short of amazing. Although animation is often reduced to just programing for kids, when put side by side, the only difference between Gone With The Wind and The Lion King is that one is animated. Both are images, but one is photographed and the other is drawn. To what I stated earlier, someone’s preference may differ from another person, but each would consider it an art.
The tone of The Little Prince is often lonely and fragile-sounding, much like the little prince himself, when he ventures into the world of adults in an attempt to understand them. The writer emphasizes, throughout the story, that loneliness is what isolates the adults rather than children because they are unable to see things with their minds, hearts, and imagination. Both the protagonist (the little prince) and secondary protagonist (the narrator) lead lonely lives because of this isolation due to the differences between the minds of children and adults. "So I lived my life alone, without anyone that I could really talk to," writes the narrator, before his plane crashes in the middle of the Sahara. He explains this in the first few chapters - living his life alone - because this 'world of grownups' does not understand him and wishes for him to talk of their idea of 'sensible' and 'practical' things. This made him very lonely, not so much in a physical sense, but so that he could never really find anyone to relate to. The narrator explains that after flat responses to his imaginative observations to things, "'Then I would never talk to that person about boa constrictors, or primeval forests, or stars. I would bring myself down to his level. I would talk to him about bridge, and gold, and politics, and neckties. And the grown-up would be greatly pleased to have met such a sensible man.'" In one of my magazines is an article called, "Popularity Truths & Lies," where popular girls talk about their social status. In large, red print, it says, "Lie: Popular girls are never left out or lonely." The girls then go on to explain how sometimes, they feel as if they are making so many friends only because of their popularity. They say that it's great to be popular, but difficult to find someone that really wants to befriend them for true qualities rather than social status. The situations between the narrator of The Little Prince and these popular students is that it seems that they would never be isolated (popular students from their admiring peers and the supposedly sensible-minded narrator from the adult world) - physically, at least - but inside the kind of friend they are really longing for is someone to understand and honestly talk to in order to end the abstract barriers between these worlds of people.
...of Life is the anthem of the film. It reminds us of the invaluable part that everyone, from such a small and weak cub to a mighty lion, plays a part in the greater scheme. The language in the lyrics was specifically written to show us that we were put on the earth for a reason. You have a role to play in this world. Don’t get lazy and give up on thinks or run away from them. Lessons you must learn and mistakes you must make. Take your place in the natural flow of things; after all it is the Circle of Life!
