The head of the Executive branch is a prime minister who is voted into office every 4 years. The current Prime Minister is Mark Rutte. The Prime minister is the most important political figure in the Netherlands. He is the face of the government. The Prime minister’s responsibilities include coordinating policies, overseeing information services, acting as the intermediary to the Royal house, and overseeing all international affairs as well as the day-to-day running of government.
The Legislative Branch consists of 2 chambers called the parliament which has a 1st and 2nd chamber. The 1st chamber is responsible questioning the council of ministers and state secretaries, and approving all bills from the second chamber before they become law. The members of the first chamber are elected officials by the legislators of the 12 provinces in the Netherlands. The 2nd chamber (considered the higher chamber) is for responsible initiating legislation (making laws) and for amending bills. They are elected by popular vote. Both chambers hold a 4 year term.
The Judicial branch consists of a supreme court called the Hoge Raad that is made up of 41 judges that are divided into civil, criminal, tax and ombuds (judges who represent the public against judicial misconduct). All justices are appointed for life by the Monarch. The judicial system is also divided by the subordinate and appellate courts. The Supreme Court in the Netherlands does not rule on the constitutionality of a law but rules strictly on the laws within the constitution. There are no jury’s in the Netherlands all cases are heard by the judicial branch they also do not have a death penalty within the constitution.

...urrently however the colors have changed to red, white, and blue. The change was made because the color red was easier to see in battle. For a short period of time the flag was banned when Holland was ruled by France, but when they regained their freedom the flag was reinstated.
Recently Holland’s conflicts have been few and far between. There has been a rise in racial and religious tension within the Muslim community over recent anti-Muslim comments from a few government officials. In addition, conflict has occurred due to the release of an anti-Muslim cartoon and Danish movie. Further struggles surfaced while the Dutch were assisting the United Nations as military forces were sent into Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.
Ever since the Netherlands has been an official country, it has continued to impress the world. This small country has influenced Western civilization
The legislative branch is responsible for making laws and includes Congress, the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate has 100 members, two from each state. The house of representatives is made up of 435 members, and the larger the population of the state is, the more representatives it will have. The House and the Senate are also known as Congressional Chambers, and they both have particular exclusive powers. The consent of both chambers is required to pass any legislation. But it can only become law if it is signed by the President. The President has the power to veto a bill though, which will deny the legislation and kick the bill back to Congress. It may then only be passed if 2/3 of both houses of Congress vote to pass the bill.
This is a project about the U.S.A. we have to do this for the subject history. We have to answer a main Question. As main question I chose; what was the influence by the Dutch on the New Netherlands? I chose this question because I thought this would be an interesting thing about the history of the New Netherlands. I’m going to use sub questions to answer the main question. The three sub questions are about the drive for the Dutch to look for new colonies, what did the Dutch get from the New Netherlands and what did they bring to the New Netherlands and what was the influence of the colony on the hinterland. For my research on the sub questions I had to use the internet. This three question will be worked out beneath
Our Legislative Branch has two chambers or as some will call it bicameral. The chambers consist of the Senate and the House of Representatives just like the National Legislative Branch. In our Senate we currently have a total of 31 members and there are 150 members in the House of Representatives. Senators hold their seat for 4 years and their election years are spread out while the House of Representatives are elected for two-year terms. In our Texas Legislature we have a few authority figures. “The Texas Constitution provides that the lieutenant governor shall serve as president of the senate, the presiding officer of that body. The lieutenant governor is elected statewide by voters of Texas and is the second-highest ranking officer of the executive branch of government”. (Texas Medical Associaton) In the House of Representatives we have a Speaker of the House who is chosen in each time a new legislature starts by its own members. “The speaker maintains order during floor debate, recognizing legislators who wish to speak and ruling on procedural matters.” (Joe Straus Speaker) There are also many committees who act as important gatekeepers and shape the proposed legislation. (University of Texas at Austin). The main pu...
The Legislative Branch is Congress, which has just two branches - the House of Representatives and the Senate. To understand the power held by the Legislative Branch, we should refer to the Constitution itself. Per Section 8 of Article I, Congress may only act within the powers granted to them explicitly in the Constitution, these are called enumerated powers. But this doesn’t mean the powers granted to them were diminutive. The entire legislative power was constitutionally delegated to Congress. The House and Senate serve, for the most part, to work together (though not necessarily in harmony) on passing laws, and both House and Senate must approve all bills. The framers began with the forming Article I: The Legislative Article for a simple reason; law making is an extremely important function for our government. I believe they dug their heels in here first because they intended for it to be the longest, most thorough article in the Constitution, and every word truthfully serves a divine purpose of laying out the structure of how our Legislative Branch should run. With a mere 2,...
Prior to the 1650’s, the Dutch Republic was the wealthiest and most powerful province in Holland through Amsterdam, the leading force in trade and banking. Many European nations were jealous of their success and wanted it for themselves which resulted in conflicts between the Dutch and many European powers. As a result, the Dutch Republic entered a period of decline until the Peace of Utrecht of 1713. The expensive wars with England and France, decline in trade and distrust between the Dutch provinces led to challenges in security, unity and prosperity of the Republic.
The court system is composed of lawyers, judges, and juries. Their job is to ensure that everyone receives a fair trial, determine guilt or innocence, and apply sentences to guilty parties. The court system will contain one judge, and a jury of twelve citizens. The jury of the court will determine the guilt or innocence of the individual. The jury will also recommend a sentence for the crime the individual committed.
Legislative Assembly - A legislature is a kind of deliberative assembly with the power to pass, amend, and repeal laws.
The Legislative Branch, or Congress, " creates, abolishes, and changes [the] federal laws which govern the nation." (World Book 138). This branch is divided into two houses: the Senate and the House of Representatives and is run by the Vice President. The two houses collaborate to decide what laws will be passed and how to word them. This branch can "check" the power of the other two branches. T...
The legislative branch the first branch of the three, consist of two branches establishing Congress, the House and Senate. .... The orange version of the flag is known as the Prince's Flag. Some extremist Dutch groups and individuals, such as the Greater Netherlands movement, use the Prince's Flag to signify their political beliefs. This is similar to the use of the Confederate flag by people in the American South.
As an open economy, the Netherlands is susceptible to international developments, notably in recent years the global recession – which has been exacerbated by falling share prices, the attacks of 11 September 2001, the war in Iraq and the outbreak of SARS.
For years, countries have had different legislatures bicameral and unicameral. The features of each legislatures are distinct from one another. It even accounts to various vices and virtues. Both legislatures exist in various countries in the world. The reason to which varies in each place. Legislatures are essential for a society to perform politically well. However, the political structure of every nations varies thus, there exist no simple generalization. The structural arrangements of different legislatures are distinct in relation to their number of chambers available. (Danziger, J. N. (1996))
It is the branch of government that is most closely related to citizens. They are typically elected by those in the district in which they represent, and they are expected to call to the needs of their district. If the executives represent the countries as a whole, the legislature represents the local areas of the country. They have six functions, each with their own level of responsibility. The six functions are representation, deliberation, legislation, authorizing expenditure, making governments, and oversight. In our political system, we decided on a bicameral (two-chamber)
