Words are more than just sounds coming out of your mouth because they can stick to a person for their whole life like Glue on paper. The Book Thief tells about how the power of words can motivate people in either a good or a bad way depending on the speaker. And how even the quietest of people can still make a change in someone else’s life or even their own. The Book Thief illustrates how the power of words can change a person to even a country all together. This book takes place during the Holocaust which was so happen to be a terrible time period for not only Jews living in Germany or Poland but for everyone as well. The Holocaust had started with the terrible man himself Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. The big idea or theme of this book is “The power of words can change a person’s life” and there are tons of examples to prove that theme. The main character of The Book Thief is Liesel Meminger and she at the time was a little girl to a teen who was quiet at times. She had just been through a tough time through her life because her brother had died on the train ride to the new family, and had been abandoned by her mother because her father was a communist and she was just too worried about her children so she had to leave them behind for safety purposes. So adapting to the new family was hard because she had a new mom but really missed the old one but had made changes and was comfortable enough with the new dad because she had never seen her dad before so having a “dad” wasn’t so much pain to
