The Perfect Companion
Astoria squinted her eyes as she slowly began to awaken from her slumber, but the sun shinning through her window made it next to impossible to keep her eyes open. She finally rolled over so the sunshine could no longer reach her face. Astoria grumbled as she rolled out of bed and started to rub the sleepy sand out of her eyes, when she paused... "Oh my! Today is the day!" She yelled to herself. She sprang up from the floor and rushed over to her calendar and glanced at the red circle over today 's date. Today was February 26th and written on this date were the words "Astoria finally meets Killian!".
Everything that lead up to February 26th took place just over a year ago. Astoria had just finished school and

Astoria had always been quite shy and awkward and found it hard to write a positive profile about herself, but she knew she had to do her best though or she would never find the perfect companion. Astoria took a recent photo of herself sitting on her porch in the summer sun, where the light reflected off her golden hair and made her porcelain skin look flawless and decided it was the best picture to put on her profile. Then came the written portion of the profile which was the hardest part not only because their was a character limit but because she had to talk about herself. After several minutes of blank stares and multiple backspaces she finally perfected it and was ready to click the “post it” button. Astoria’s profile was short, simple and sweet. It …show more content…
Profile that stood out from the rest and even with such little description Astoria knew their personalities would match and they would connect. He had long, blonde, silky hair with patches of almost pure white. His eyes were big and brown, but full of character. The excitement didn’t end there, he had a mouth full of pearly white teeth and his smile was breath taking. Astoria could’t help but smile from ear to ear when she browsed through his pictures. Astoria knew she couldn’t base everything off of his pictures and would have to read his profile to find out more. His profile reads: My name is Killian and I am in search of the perfect companion to fill my life with love and joy. I am an easy going guy who loves the typical long walks on the beach and through the park. I am quite athletic and love to spend a lot of my time running and being energetic. But most of all, I love to spend most of time relaxing on the couch or in bed snuggling with those who mean most to
She had “perfect ringlets”, was beautiful, and “was the shade of brown” (34). Jo is a neighbor. Jo had on an “oversized orange sweatshirt, black leggings that hugged her skinny legs, and combat boots” (59). Jo had “a toothy smile” (59). Max had “squirrel brown and wispy” hair (59).
Andi Anderson (Kate Hudson) is a beautiful, young, and successful writer who maintains a “How-To” section in “Composure” magazine. Her dream is to “write about things that matter, like politics and the environment, and foreign affairs- things I’m interested in.” (How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, time stamp 02:00). She knows that the only way she will eventually be able to write about subjects she’s passionate about is to be successful in writing her superficial “How-To” section in the magazine.
In the introduction of the author’s essay, she starts off with interviews and examples of everyday people. The author, Emily, meets with one girl named Kitty and thought she “was warm and funny and humble” until the author went onto her MySpace account (Nussbaum 1). The author was thrown off and shocked because she did not expect Kitty to throw herself out there on the internet like that. From that point the author talks about famous people like Paris
Her pale, bloated face wore an expression of imbecile happiness. Every now and then her eyelids closed, and for a few seconds she seemed to be dozing. Then with a little start she would wake up again杦ake up to the aquarium antics of the Tennis Champions, to the Super-Vox-Wurlitzeriana rendering of "Hug me till you drug me, honey," to the warm draught of verbena that came blowing through the ventilator above her head-would wake to these things, or rather to a dream of which these things, transformed and embellished by the soma in her blood, were the marvellous constituents, and smile once more her broken and discoloured smile of infantile contentment.
The glistening sun rises; it's visually impairing light shines upon my closed eyelids forcing me to wake up. I slowly look around the cramped stuffy room. The tired worn out men were fast asleep; probably dreaming about the mystical day we all achieve our long wished fantasy, to finally get out of this ranch and live our own life’s freely. Lennie woke up startled then violently rolled out of his squeaky bunk. “Good morning Lennie” I softly whispered. He silently whispered back “good morning George” with a huge pleased grin from ear to ear across his smug face.
She dug her hand deep into the cool damp sand and closed her eyes. Squishing the moist grains with her fingers in the fury of the day reminded her of afternoons just laying in bed wrapped up in clean, white sheets, waiting for an answer.
I looked up at Gabriel from the grass. I never actually got to inspect the full extent of his features. His dark brown hair was tussled and looked as if he had been running his fingers through it from stress. His green eyes resembled emeralds. He had a bit of muscle on him, but he wasn’t too broad shouldered. You could see a small rose tattoo on his upper bicep. He wore a dark green t-shirt and jeans. He was definitely handsome, and all his features complimented each other.
Her bedroom was closed but with an “open window” (463), with a roomy armchair she sank into. As she is looking out the window she sees “the tops of trees,” “new spring life,” “breath of rain was in the air,” and she could hear a peddler below in the street, calling to customers, and “patches of blue sky showing” (463). The author depicts in the previous sentence that when she uses “breath of rain was in the air,” rain is more like a cleansing so she could be feeling a sign of relief but can’t recognize it. She sat with her head on the cushion “quite motionless,” except when a sob came in her throat and “shook her,” like a child “continuously sobbing” (463) in its dreams. The author uses imagery in the previous
“To me, beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It's about knowing and accepting who you are. I’m happy being who I am. I’m confident, I live honestly and truthfully.” (DeGeneres 6). This quote is crucial for the reader to keep in mind, for it completely embodies the essence of Ellen DeGeneres, her life, and what she stands for: confidence, honesty, and happiness. This is one example of the many wise and inspiring words of Ellen DeGeneres. The inspiring qualities of Ellen DeGeneres are not limited to her words; her actions inspire and influence the same. Many of these inspiring actions originated from her rugged road to fame. This leads the reader to question: In what ways have the life events of Ellen DeGeneres shaped her into the inspiring person she is today? Taking a closer look at her pre fame experiences, society’s view of her, and her personality, will help the reader answer this question. Thus DeGeneres continues to inspire as well as influence a generation of people in a wide variety of ways
May fifteenth started out as just a normal sunny day. Roll out of bed in the morning, work eight hours, and go home. I had a beautiful wife, Amy, a happy and healthy nine-month old daughter, Kayla, and a lively and energetic two-year-old son, Joby. Life was wonderful..
The gate latch groans as she slips it open. She murmurs quiet assurances to the wood, and the squeal of rusty hinges softens, falling noiseless by time she resets the handle. Her breath, she holds at the base of a black poplar tree. Her bag, she drops between the potted plants crowding the yard. Her head, she tilts back. A long breath pours out into the night.
In her memoirs, she depicted a common morning awakening substantial eyes, as yet attempting to rest, intuition to herself "A typical ten-year-old does not need to wake up at five in the morning to do chores." (pg. 83) She and her kin have the morning routine under control

Several women were chosen to give their most honest description of their appearances, but the final results are not what you would think. Each woman would describe herself to an artist who was sitting behind a curtain, unable to see her; he then drew a picture based on her description of herself. Dove then asked a random guy to go into the room with the artist, and give his description of how the woman looked to him. The artist drew both portrayals of the exact same woman, yet she wasn’t the same in the pictures. The stranger’s perspective of her was brighter, happier, and beautiful. The image the artist drew based on the woman’s portrayal of herself was dull, dark, and sad looking. Real Beauty Sketches video received over 114 million views only a month after its release, and people have become so supportive towards the vision Dove is trying to create. How negatively portrayed this young lady was just shows that we are more beautiful than we think we are, and our negatives self-views can sometimes alter how we describe ourselves to one
The date was the 18th of April 2030 when Anne woke up to face her annual grief, the grief of remembering her dear friend Tom. Tom Jonas had passed away 10 years prior to this day and all he shared with his family and friends was now nothing but just a distant memory, except for Anne though. The two shared a childhood together and had developed a deep calm bond, characteristic of the saying that calm waters run deep. Anne and Tom were only teenagers when Tom left with no return due to a plane crash, and every year Anne had to face the great love she had for Tom. The hardest part to bear was that she had to face the reality of lone love, the emptiness within her soul and not being able to really love someone else as much as she loved Tom. She woke up in tears and dressed up in her black number that was not too revealing her lips masked by red lipstick. All this was in preparation to go to the cemetery to pay her respects to the best love she never had.
