Loyalty vs. Justice

Is committing a crime and not following the rules worth saving a friend or family member? Or is it better to following the laws? Loyalty is helping someone in need. Justice is going by the law and following it. Loyalty is more important than justice.Three reasons are your friends will always be by your side, your family will do anything to help and care for you, and your friends and family are important to stick up for instead of letting them down.

In the book Mama Went to Jail for the Vote, Suzan Elizabeth always stood by her mom and supported her cause for Women to vote. In the text it states that “She made posters, banners, and stood outside the White house even when her mother was sent to jail.” Suzan Elizabeth was not supposed to do this but she wanted to stay loyal to her mom. The President wouldn’t pay attention but that didn’t matter to her so she kept going. Also, in the book The Outsiders, the gang said “We’re almost as close as brothers.” This evidence proves that your family will do anything to help and care for you. Loyalty can be more important than justice because friends and family are more important to stick up for instead of letting them down and following the law. In the book The Yellow Star, the King went against the Nazis order to fly the flag, staying loyal to his country. Also, in the text it states that King Christian encouraged everyone to wear a yellow star, after the Nazis said the Jews needed to wear them at all times. The King didn’t want to make it look like people are separated by their religion so he went against the law trying to be loyal to his country. If King Christian followed the law everyone would be identified by their religion. Would you want to be known as your religion or not able to do things that you used to do because someone let you down? This evidence proves that loyalty is more important than justice. In the book The Yellow Star, King Christian went against the law of the Nazis by refusing to fly the flag and by encouraging everyone to wear the yellow stars. The King was being loyal to his country because he knew that he couldn’t let them down. If King Christian had followed the law everyone would be miserable and upset for a long period of time.
