What is the Nervous System? The nervous system is a network of cells that take messages from the brain and spinal cord to other parts of the body. The nervous system is made up of the Central Nervous System and the Peripheral Nervous System. The Central Nervous System has two main parts; the brain and the spinal cord. While the Peripheral Nervous System has the Somatic and the Autonomic Nervous systems included with in it. The Central NS is broken down by two parts the brain and the spinal cord. The brain is protected by the scull and has a mushroom like shape. The bain has four main parts: the brain stem, cerebrum, cerebellum, and the diencephalon. The brain I the main organ of the Central NS. The average size of a human brain …show more content…

The sympathethic nervouse system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathethic nervous system of the body acts to control the bodly functions like heart rate, urination, digestion and sexual arousal. The parasympathetic nervous system controls the fight or flight responses during difficult or stressful times. This system triggers the body to fight off any stress or danger. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomic_nervous_system) Since the brain and the nervous systems are in need of each other to perform their functions it is important to look at the brain and all of it 's features. The brain is the control center that process the majority of all the bodies functions. The spinal cord is responsible for certain simple muscle reflexes but the brain process both conscious and unconscious. The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain. It contains all the tools that are responsible the majority of the brains functions. The cerebrum is split up into four sections: frontal lobe, occiptal lobe and pariental lobe. The cerebrum has two sections the right and the left hemisphere that are connected by axons that send messages to and from one another. The matter in this part is made up of cells that carry signals between the nerve cells and the organs that run through the …show more content…

This lobe is also located in the cerebral hemisphere. The parietal lobe is focused on comprehension, language, reading. It also monitors all sensory comprehension. The pariental lobe has two parts. The sensory cortex and motor cortex. The sensory cortex, is located in the front part of the parietal lobe, it recieves information from the spinal cord about the different positions of various parts and how they move. This area of the brain affects area 's like sense of touch and relays if there is pain or pressure to different parts of the body. The motor cortex 's main function is to monitor and control movement of the body. It is located in the top, middle portion of the
