The nervous system carries messages to and from the brain and spinal cord all over the body. It is a complex network of nerves and cells that can be split primarily into 2 sections; the central and peripheral nervous systems. The Central Nervous System (CNS) consists of the brain and the spinal chord. It is the control centre of the human body, information from all parts of the body is integrated and communicated to the CNS. The Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) is comprised of all nerves outside of the brain and spinal chord (CNS). It is further divided into the Somatic Nervous System (SNS), which controls the skeletal muscles, and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) which regulates the glands, blood vessels and internal organs.
