Global warming is an important ecological issue and has many negative effects upon our environment. Global warming, or what other calls it, the Greenhouse effect, is the result of a natural process. This ecological process keeps our planet warm enough to provide life, but because of the increase of temperature, caused by the high accumulation of gasses, our recent way of life and environment could be in danger. Over the years the Earth’s temperature has been increasing as a consequence of industry, fossil fuels, and agricultural processes produced by gas emotions, human and natural actions. It has been definitely proved that the planet has been threatened by global warming over the past years. The threat of global warming is real; it has …show more content…
It can cause more powerful, dangerous hurricanes. Based on the web site global warming effects around the world “Hurricane Katrina of August, 2005 was one of the most hostiles and one of the deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history”. This demonstrates how more warmer water in the oceans evaporates faster into tropical storms, making them stronger and potentially more destructive. In addition, warming can cause droughts and wildfire. The climate hot map shows how ‘warming have lead the increase drought frequency over the 30 last years”. The fact that warmer temperatures are increasing proves how the probability of drought is greater. Evaporation could execrate drought conditions and increase the risk of wildfire. Moreover, evaporation caused by warming can cause intense rainstorms. For example the national rainfall federation declares, “Climate change has contributed to a rise in extreme weather patterns”. This is significant because climate change will increase the frequency of heavy rainstorms, putting many communities at risk for devastation from floods. All in all, warming is causing many different catastrophes around the globe, not just hurricanes, droughts, wildfires and rainstorms but also many others that are coming over the …show more content…
It’s causing the reduction and probable extinction of polar species. According to scientists’ predictions “ if the Arctic continues to warm, two-thirds of the world 's polar bears could disappear within this century”. This demonstrates how due to the melting ice in the Artic polar bears may be gone from the planet in as little as 100 years because of the reduction of food access, drop in body condition, increase in drowning, and others. Warming is also increasing the rate of probable extinctions of fungi around the world. Following this further, the effects on climate change website claims ”a recent study of nearly 2,000 species of plants and animals discovered movement toward the poles at an average rate of 3.8 miles per decade”. This is irrefutable evidence on how plants are emigrating toward zones where they can feed their needs to survive over the warming effects. In addition, the global warming leads to the lost of many bird species. For this reason, the natural conservancy shares how “several U.S. states have even lost their official birds as they need for cooler climates, including the Baltimore of Maryland, the Black-cap Chickadee of Massachusetts and the American Goldfinch of Lowa”. Based on this we must conclude that birds have been flying to other parts of the planets in the search of more comfortable places to live where they can find the conditions they need to survive. Therefore, climate change is a
Global warming is a scientific, political, and controversial topic. Some believe it is catastrophic, a slow moving killer hiding in the shadows. Others do not even think twice about it as they race by in a Hummer. Global warming is the gradual increase of temperature throughout different climates. It is caused by the greenhouse gas effect in which greenhouse gases, like methane and carbon dioxide, reflect sunlight back and forth. This reflected ultraviolet light bounces between the earth and the ozone layer and becomes trapped, resulting in a gradual rise of temperature. Over time, the slow rise of temperature causes new climates throughout the globe. The article “What Megablazes Tell Us About the Fiery Future of Climate Change” by Tim Dickinson
Species are decreasing and becoming extinct over time due to climate warming. Animals and plants have developed and diversified from earlier forms to become more complex organisms. Not only have living organisms changed, but so has the Earth. Over time, the world itself has changed drastically, not just the climate but the way it looks as well. The ice on the arctic is melting, causing oceans to become more acidic, oceans became deserts and pollution from our everyday lives are affecting the ozone. It all adds up and changes the world negatively. When the world changes, so do the animals within it. Climate warming has been a big part of the change we see in the population of different species. The speed of climate change is excelling, which
For a significant number of years it has been evident that global temperatures were rising and that human activity is a major contributing factor to this rise. The rise in temperature is not only heating the planet but having an adverse effect on the global climate.
Climate change is a term used to describe the increase in the average temperature of the earth’s surface and has been a major problem recently. Our world is constantly changing and therefore so is our climate, as our country industrializes we create more greenhouse gases from the immense human activity being produced. “These gases get into the atmosphere when coal, natural gas and oil is burned for energy and over the last century the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil has increased the concentration of carbon dioxide… the clearing of land for agriculture, industry, and other human activities has increased concentrations of greenhouse gases.”(NASA 1). Climate change is causing global warming that causes the earth to heat up rather than
Global warming refers to the increasing temperature of the earth’s atmosphere due to rises in CO2 and other pollutants, collectively referred to as greenhouse gases. This increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases is leading to climate changes experienced world-wide. The warming of the earth’s atmosphere has resulted in the rise of water temperatures in oceans and seas. The coral reef ecosystem is highly sensitive to even the smallest of changes in temperature. As sea temperatures rise, the corals pass their thermal thresholds and enter a state of stress. When they are stressed the symbiotic zooxanthellae that live within them leave. The zooxanthellae and the coral share a symbiotic relationship meaning that they both benefit from one another’s presence. When the zooxanthellae leave, they take part of the coral’s energy source with them. Also when this expulsion of zooxanthellae occurs, the coral loses its color which gives rise to the term coral bleaching. Coral bleaching does not always result in the death of coral, but it does make them more susceptible to disease and UV radiation. Global warming is also causing oceans to acidify which weakens coral structure making them easy targets for bacteria and disease. The oceans absorb the CO2 from the atmosphere which in turn lowers the pH of the water and reduces the calcification rate of reef building coral (NOAA).
The climate on the Earth is changing. Ice age is interleaved with the global warming. In the present age, the temperature of the Earth's climate system continue rapidly increase and it leads to global warming. Global warming is the process of gradual growth of average annual temperature of the atmosphere of the Earth and World ocean. The average temperature on the Earth was increased by 0.6C. There are various reasons of global warming, such as human activities, natural events, increasing of gases, such as carbon dioxide in atmosphere and solar activity (Global warming). Nearly 200 countries have signed Kyoto Protocol and they must reduce four greenhouse gases, in order to struggle with global warming. There are several perspectives about effects of global warming on environment. In this essay will be considered the impacts and consequences of global warming . In the process, it will be clarified that there are positive and negative impacts of global warming.
The article “an introduction to climate change” describes in detail about the causes of climate change, and its potential effect on earth. According to this article, the global warming is due to the accumulation of carbon dioxide and other pollutants formed from burning fossil fuels that accumulate on earth’s atmosphere so that light rays are reflected back to the earth surface causing the atmospheric air to heat up. In addition, the article also gives some relevant solutions to global warming such as reducing air pollution and use of “clean energy.”
It will change the water cycle due to warmer temperatures. Some areas will get more precipitation and storms, while others will get nothing and have serious droughts. Warming to a few degrees will cause glaciers to melt and sea ice to melt, leading to a lot of damage. This damage would lead the levels of the oceans to rise and would cause damage to coastal cities and islands. This would cause serious problems for the different species living in the oceans and could cause some disease.
Many climate scientists, researchers, and environmentalists are expressing concerns about shifts in the overall climate of the earth. It is believed that a dramatically dangerous warming is taking place in the overall global climate, a problem that is referred to as "global warming”. Global warming is the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of Earth’s climate system. This temperature rise is due to the damaging effects of deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. It is our responsibility to preserve our planet and our way of living but in order to do that we need to act now. If we continue to destroy the planet with no regard as to how serious this matter is there could be several negative effects to us as human being and other living thing on Earth. This is why global warming is truly a global issue and needs to be tackled collectively. We must to act now in order to reduce the dangerous levels of carbon dioxide emissions and we must to work together.
As we approach the future we are faced with many global problems. Most of these problems arise because we have caused them ourselves. We need to face these problems and find a solution. Global warming, although most often overlooked in importance, is a crucial problem of the future directly related to human activities. Global warming is caused by gases humans release into the atmosphere called anthropogenic gases and by deforestation. Anthropogenic gases include carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofl...
Of all the effects of global warming, the extreme weather that is taking place all over the world is the most obvious one. Global warming will bring more heat waves, drought, fiercer wildfires and stronger hurricanes. “This intensification of weather and climate extremes will be the most visible impact of global warming in our everyday lives” (75 yrs NWF). Due to rising temperatures, places everywhere will be affected as we get more extremely hot summer days and lesser winters. In addition, as these rising temperatures shifts the cycle of rain and increases evaporation, there will be longer and drier droughts which in turn can lower the water supply for life everywhere. Wildfires can turn out to be even more catastrophic due to warmer temperatures and drier areas combined with accumulated levels of fuel loads in the forest which has built up as a result of decades of fire suppression activities. Moreover, stronger hurricanes are also an effect of global warming as sea levels are rising and heavier rains are falling near the coasts. Overall, global warming is bringing climates that are changing real fast.
Global warming is a serious problem with two major effects: increasing sea level and degradation of wildlife. Increase in sea level affects the entire landmass of the earth. According to NASA, the polar ice cap is melting at the alarming rate of nine percent per decade. Arctic ice thickness has decreased 40 percent since the 1960s (Oskin). The amount of water is more than the land on our planet.
Birds are a species that will be affected by a change in the climate. Global warming might result in birds finding a more permanent home in northern areas of the Northern Hemisphere. The ecosystems of fish will be affected by global warming in a variety of ways. The chemical composition of water could be changed.
Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the human species face today, yet the majority of the population does not pay attention to it. People are not aware of the dangers and do not care about it much because the main effects will affect the next generation and not themselves. Global warming is happening and it is the reason for changing weather and weather extremes such as earthquakes, floods and wildfires. Global warming is caused by societies lifestyle and these lifestyles destroy the environment and affect the whole world. The use of cars, trains, planes, as well as wasting energy for people’s entertainment has a price; this price is that society is in danger.
Global Warming One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”).
