History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own fall.” This quote was said by the ruler of Germany , Adolph Hitler, during the Edict of March 18, 1938. He realized that the people were violent, and allowing them to carry arms would be disastrous. Today, in America handgun violence is at an astronomical high. Statistics prove that in recent years, in the United States, nearly 35,000 people have been killed annually by guns(Godfried 13). Statistics like these will continue to rise unless stronger gun control laws are passed. The outcries of the people’s views, and the protesting of organized gun control groups are the key elements in bringing these laws into effect. Handgun violence has had a major impact on our society. It is the second leading cause of death among young adults. One in every five American parents personally knows a child that has been shot. (Leonne18). However, between 1980-1987 they admitted 34 youths. (Leonne 18). With gun violence at a peek, no school will be safe without stronger regulations. Gun violence in youth has become much more prevalent. Today’s youth are more likely to turn to guns to solve their problems with bullies or to help them to fight a mental illness. Kids are taking guns from their parents or are just going to the streets and buying the guns from random people. The number of injured people from firearm incidents in the United States per year for the past decade is 400-600 thousand people (Gun Violence). These statistics are absolutely shocking to anyone. The amount of violence and crime that comes from guns is enormous. It is imperative that proper gun control is put into place by means of background checks and proper training. There are gun control laws to try and reduce the number of violent shootings that occur. They are trying to put limits on weapons that Americans can own. The government is trying to take our guns away mainly because of people that are criminally insane. Most of the people who commit crimes don’t even have the weapons legally. If the government takes away the rights of people who are allowed to have firearms in their possession, it will most definitely cause an outrage. Most people believe that the people should be more capable of maintain proper use of the firearms instead of having them all taken away. Taking the firearms from Americans away would cause a lot more problems than there actually are. The people will be upset with the government taking firearms away because of the horrible people who harm innocent people using them. So they will do anything to their capabilities to keep them.

Americans are faced with a huge problem of violence in the streets, these streets have become a place where old people are beaten for their social security checks, where little women are attacked and raped, where teen aged thugs shoot it out for some turf to sell their illegal drugs, and finally where small children everyday are caught in the way of bullets during drive by shootings. We try to ignore the criminals in our society and how they hurt it, but we shouldn’t. We should take actions to stop these acts of crazy people. And people try, but the hard work of some misguided individuals to stop the legal ownership of guns doesn’t really affect the problem at all, and takes the guns from the innocent citizens, who simply want means of self defense.
