Anthony F. Aveni in 1986 wrote about the Nazca lines and gave full detail of his findings. The Nazca Lines are an amazing archeological site with more than 150 sites, which range from as early as 1400-400 BC to the late 14th/ early 15th century(Aveni, pg.33). The Nazca Lines has three basic types: straight lines, geometric design, and pictorial representation. Aveni discovered that there are 1300 kilometers of straight lines in various widths, for geometric figures they consist mostly of rectangles, trapezoids, and triangles. There were also zig-zag and spirals, such as the monkey’s tail known for its giant spiral tail(see figure 1). When speaking about the prospects of what the Nazca lines’ purpose could be, Aveni spoke on the possibility While for many there is no connection whatsoever. There are still those that believe that it is, Dr. Paul Kosok, wrote a journal in 1959 called Astronomy, the Priesthood and the State: New Aspects of ancient Nazca, on how astronomy is connected with the Nazca lines. Kosok talked about how “The early Spanish Cronicler. Cieza de Leon, mentions that all the Indians in the Nazca Valley were killed in the civil wars in which rival groups of Spaniards fought for possession of both the soil and the Indians”(Kosok, pg.6). Since all the natives were killed, so were the traditions and the knowledge of what the Nazca lines purpose For many, the connection is stronger with that the purpose of the Nazca lines was for irrigation. In 2009, an article was written by Andrew Curry, the Ritual of the Nasca Lines, with the purpose of trying to answer the question of the Nazca lines’ purpose thanks to new technology that wasn’t there, is the past. Markus Reindel a German archaeologist and Johnny Isla a Peruvian archaeologist teamed up in 1997 to investigate the Nazca lines. What they did that was different than the rest was that they started in a town called Palpa, 25 miles north away from the Nasca Valley. “Isla said, “When the lines were created, Palpa and Nasca were the same culturally and geographically”(Curry,
