Steve Jones in the article "Music and the Internet" suggests that popular music as well as academic articles relating to popular music were created and distributed by people who didn’t completely understand the idea of the "music industry." He ultimately suggests that today compared to the introduction of popular music, a growing number of consumers are using the Internet to attain music. The internet has drastically changed the distribution systems also creating many ethical problems that weren't found in the music industry before the internet. Because the internet started making a presence in almost every single business, it was almost no question that the internet is bringing about some changes in the music industry; a billion dollar industry. Steve Jones ultimately knew the inversion of the internet would create dominant change in the music industry; one that many popular music artists during the early years didn't think was possible. The article was written in a lot information paragraphs that gave insight to the extreme lack of strong distribution during the early times of popular music compared to modern day. Strong and insightful syntax showed the way many musicians felt that about the way their music was performed and distributed during these times, but had nothing to do about it.

With the radio acting as a distribution center for music, it became a national pastime in which it still ranks number one today for it’s easy access and reaching fields. The Use of Electronic Technology in 20th and 21st Century Music In this essay, I have examined the use of electronic technology within 20th and 21st Century music. This has involved analysis of the development and continuing refinement of the computer in today’s music industry, as well as the theory of the synthesiser and the various pioneers of electronic technology, including Dr. Robert Moog and Les Paul. Also within the essay, I have discussed the increasing use of computers in the recording studio. The computer has become an indispensable tool in ensuring that both recording and playback sound quality is kept at the maximum possible level. Moore’s essay “Is Music Piracy Stealing,” he attempts to explain if one downloads a song without paying the composer it is taking away from working an honest living. His argument is valid but because of his limited amount of information on this topic, Moore's essay tends to fade due to poor writing style, weak analogy, and scatter brained content.
In a day and age where getting noticed or receiving recognition within the music industry is a struggle, upon releasing material musicians enter a battlefield. For established musicians, those with a loyal fan base, recognition isn’t necessarily a problem but for musicians attempting to “make it”, it is. There are a number of ways in which a budding musician can increase their chances of gaining recognition and one of the most common attempts comes in the form of the remix. Musicians, primarily working in dance, electronic or hip-hop genres remix tracks of already established musicians in a bid to target and get recognition from the audience of the already established musician. This is not to say that this is the only reason for the remix; I will expand on different reasons later. The term remix, for some, conjures up certain connotations and too much of the time these connotations are bad ones, often centring on plagiarism and theft or perhaps more pointlessly based on arguments of unoriginality. These arguments aside, releasing remixes is clearly an acceptable way for any up-and-coming musician to gain notoriety, particularly in the blogosphere.
