The movie, The Giver, is better than the book because it contains more action than the book describes and it’s very exciting and intense. Everything about the movie was perfectly put together which made the movie a great one to watch. There is also a moral to the movie which I think is “Stand up for what you believe in.” I think this is a great moral and goes well with the movie because it shows that even if the whole world turns on you, as long as you believe in yourself, you can achieve almost anything. I also like the fact that it’s a futuristic kind of movie; it makes it unique. He is also referred to as the Receiver of Memory. Chief Elder (Meryl Streep) is the Leader of the community. She is in charge of everyone in the community and makes all the rules. Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is the main character in the Giver. He is an Eleven at the beginning of the film and turns in a Twelve when he is selected to be the next Receiver of Memory during the ceremony of Twelve. Father (Alexander Skarsgard) works at the Nurturing Center for newchildren. He is the adoptive father of Jonas and Lily and he is married to Mother. Mother (Katie Holmes) works in the Department of Law and Order. She is the adoptive mother of Jonas and Lily and she is married to Father. Fiona (Odeya Rush) is the best friend of Jonas and Asher. During the Ceremony of Twelve, she is assigned to be a Caretaker of the Old. Asher (Cameron Monhagan) is the best friend of Jonas and Fiona. During the Ceremony of Twelve, he is assigned to be a Drone Pilot. Rosemary (Taylor Swift) is the Giver’s daughter and was assigned to be the next Receiver of Memory after him.
