India’s manufacturing sector is an important cog in the wheel of economic progress and development; the segment’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product is 16% ( India Brand Equity Foundation, September 2013). Post economic liberalisation era, India has realised the important role of manufacturing industry in the overall industrial development. In this context even the government has been very proactive. The recent initiative counts back to the announcement of the manufacturing policy in 2010, followed by the systematic manufacturing plan for the country with the intensive industry involvement design. Both the government and the industries are focussing on the implementation of this plan.

The company has 25 offices worldwide and is one of the top 25 semiconductor suppliers globally by sales volume. It is a fabless semiconductor company for multimedia solutions and wireless communications primarily engaged in development, research and manufacture of multimedia integrated circuit chipsets that provides system-on-chip solutions for smartphones, tablets, optical storage, high definition television, set-top boxes, digital versatile disk player chips, Blu-ray products, GPS units, Wi-Fi routers and Bluetooth devices and .It contributes immensely to communication and network systems, consumer electronics and appliances/ semiconductor design and manufacturing industry while distributing in domestic and overseas markets.. Its competitors are Broadcom, Spreadtrum and Qualcomm.
