The video then goes on to give more information of the life of Mozart and how his work was able to help change the course of music and the way it is viewed today as Western art music. Conductors are seen as the leader of an orchestra or band and are given most if not all the credit for the music played. For such a simple task that consists of counting the beats, showing the mood for the music, and giving people cues to enter, conductors are as good as their orchestra or band, not by their talent. In this passage by Igor Stravinsky, Stravinsky discusses that the work the conductor puts in is negligible to the work the orchestra it self and that concerts should be about the complex qualities of the music played instead of how the conductor impacts the performance.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was undoubtedly one of the greatest composers of not only the classical era, but of all time. On January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria, Mozart was born into an already musically talented family. His father Leopold, a composer and musician, and sister Nannerl toured parts of Europe giving many successful performances, including some before royalty. At the young age of 17, Mozart was appointed Konzertmeister at the Salzburg Court. It was there that young Mozart composed two successful operas: “Mitridate” and “Lucio Silla”. In 1981 he was dismissed from his position at the Salzburg Court. He went on to compose over 600 works including 27 piano Concertos, 18 Masses (including his most famous, the Requiem), and 17 piano sonatas. Mozart was not often known for having radical form or harmonic innovation but rather, most of his music had a natural flow, repetition and simple harmonic structure.

The concepts of pitch and expressive techniques will be focused on, with a broader breakdown on how these two concepts affect many of the other concepts of music. As an adult Mozart his career was not as successful as when he was younger. But he kept on composing anyway hoping one people would appreciate his work. He lived in poverty for the great majority of his life. In 1769 he became a concertmaster to the archbishop of Salzburg, which was another one of his jobs that afforded him little financial security. In 1777, he left on another concert tour. But, the courts of Europe ignored Mozart ‘s search for a more beneficial assignment. In 1782 he earned a living by selling compositions, giving public performances, and giving music lessons, which once again was a low paying job. The composer never did find a well paying job. The bizarre thing was is that even that he had ton of trouble finding jobs, he was still considered one of the leading composers of the late 1700s.
In the beginning of the movie, Mozart, while possessing great musical talent, is a bawdy impish jokester. When Salieri, the narrator of the movie first sees Mozart, Mozart is running on the floor with a girl, telling boorish jokes. He is angered by Mozart’s behavior, and believes that this was god’s way of mocking him-by giving him the ability to understand music, and yet using such a vile creature as his instrument. This is also proof that Mozart is an archetypal hero. Such behavior is proof of his unusual birth, which is a trait of archetypal hero; Mozart’s behavior is the result of a pampered childhood in an aristocratic family, where he was denied nothing. He also shows exceptionally rude behavior in front of the cardinal when the cardinal attempts to chastise him for being late to the performance; he opens the doors to the cardinal’s room before taking a bow outside to his crowd of admirers to deliberately show his behind to the pope.
