When you think of child abuse, what comes to your mind? Child abuse happens all over around the world and so many children are physically abused, sexual abused, emotional abused and even neglect. When you abuse your child, it leaves a big impact on them. Not only does it leaves an impact on their life, but also in their hearts. it will be explaining all of the different types of child abuse, the long and short term effects of each one of them and the warning signs.
In physical abuse, it involves physical harm or injury to the child. It may be the result of a deliberate attempt to hurt the child or excessive physical punishment. The angrier the parent, the more intense the abuse will be.
The last element, using fear to control behavior, parents who are physically abusive may believe their children need to fear them in order to behave. However, what children are really learning is how to avoid being hit, not know how to behave or grow as individuals.
Examples of physical abuse are; being physical restrained; such as being tied to a chair, being burned, being cut, being slapped, punched, kicked, bitten or choked, being stabbed or shot, withholding of food or medical attention, being drugged, being denied sleep and inflicting pain on other people or animals
There are many long term effects of physical abuse on children that can last a lifetime and it’s very hard to overcome. The long term effects are; stuttering, psychosomatic disorders (disorders in which mental factors play a significant role – often vague complaints of pain), anxiety; fears; compulsive behavior, sleep disruption, excessive crying, problems at school, depression, self-destructive behavior; running away, anger and hostility, low self-esteem, difficulty trusting others; relationship …show more content…

Neglect is the ongoing failure to meet a child's basic needs and is the most common form of child abuse. A child may be left hungry or dirty, without adequate clothing, shelter, supervision, medical or health care. A child may be put in danger or not protected from physical or emotional harm. They may not get the love, care and attention they need from their parents. A child who’s neglected will often suffer from other abuse as well. Neglect is dangerous and can cause serious, long-term damage or even death.
Neglect happens when parents or carers can’t or won’t meet a child’s needs. Sometimes this is because they don't have the skills or supported needed, and sometimes it’s due to other problems such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol problems or poverty.
Although professionals may be worried about a child, it's not always easy to identify neglect. There’s often no single sign that a child or family need help. So, professionals look for a pattern of ongoing neglect before they step
