The attack occurred in July 1982, in a wooded area in Ashland, Virginia near the apartments where the victim lived. A young white woman had been attacked by a black man on a bicycle. The victim was beaten repeatedly and threatened with a gun. The victim was raped, and sodomized for an unknown amount of time. During the attack, the perpetrator had told the victim that she was nothing special; he’d been with a white girl before. The victim ran home and called police. The first officer on the scene was Ashland police officer W.L. Anderson to arrive at the apartment. Officer Anderson of the Ashland police department spoke with the victim there and at the hospital. Officer Anderson learned that the assailant knew enough about the victim to suggest he lived near her and that he had said he had a white girlfriend. Officer Anderson, who is black but is no relation to Marvin Lamont Anderson, then began asking around about black men living with white women at the apartments. Anderson 's name came up (KRISHNAMURTHY, 2001).

Nonprofits are dealing with many risks that seemed especially significant. For example, Nonprofits might encounter fiscal risk caused by the difficulty of finding enough resources and funds to subsidize their mission and objectives. Throughout history, fiscal distress has been a way of life for the nonprofit sector as many nonprofits are competing to access the needed resources and raising money to fund their activities. Nonprofits also might encounter the risk of losing market shares due to the uneven opportunity in accessing resources required to establish new facilities or new programs and services in response to the rapid surges in demand. Accordingly, nonprofits are required to maintain effectiveness

... book to those that have a entrepreneurial drive but also to those entering nearly any field. All fields are changing over time, formulas may stay the same and chemical properties will remain the same but new technologies or ways to get to the answers are always emerging. That is one of the points that this text strives to make, everyone need innovation and it is a skill that takes practice. This text was an easy read that laid out a step-by-step program in changing one’s future perspectives on problems they may combat. Johansson explains each topic in depth so that someone who is just starting from ideation can pick up his book and start to think differently. While also explaining topic ideas in detail there are also cases in each section that help supplement key ideas. These cases show how past companies have succeeded and failed through each stage of the method.
Second, we want to create innovative and sustainable products. We live to innovate -- it’s who we are. When our corporate responsibility initiatives begin leading us to new product development, it brings a new energy to our efforts. Whole divisions in our company open up to the prospects. Eyebrows are raised. There are results already: We’re finding ways to eliminate the toxic chemicals commonly used in making products and materials and teams are creating business models for generating revenue from ground-up old shoes; designers are developing products made of recycled polyester or organic cotton.

In the case of Y Combinator, the world’s largest business incubator, some of their entrepreneurs who start with them already have a product built before even starting (Geron, Mac 2011). Much like the art of entrepreneurship, the stage of business, whether in the start-up phase or funding phase, a mix of both, or simply looking for mentorship in helping develop a business plan as a whole, a business incubator could be the difference between success and failure. Extremely successful business incubators can literally be found all over the United States (Tiku, Joyner 2010). If an entrepreneur does their research they can find a business incubator that is right for their business venture.
To many people, when they hear the word “invention” they think of clever gadgets and devices that are now commonplace. Such as the safety pin, zippers, computers, telephones, and cars- all of which have amazing stories behind them. However, the word “invention” actually goes back to the Latin word invenire for “to come upon.” Basically, an invention can be any tangible device or a process, which is brought about by the human imagination. Now, a lot of these inventions have helped shape America.
