The Kite Runner is an innocent title for a book. But who expects the Taliban in a story with kites? Who expected a war at a first glance? Who knew that a book with an innocuous title would have dark undertones within the plot? The story of The Kite Runner book belongs to a writer, Amir. His tale begins during his childhood with his close-friend, Hassan. One year they team up to compete in the annual kite flying tournament. Amir as the flyer and Hassan holding the spool and being the runner. But life in Afghanistan is not always fun and games with flying kites, as a war soon takes over the country. In fact, it actually begins at first in his adulthood. Though at first it is confusing, for you have little to no idea of what’s going on in the first chapter. As you continue to read the book, Amir’s life goes from childhood, early adulthood to his middle age. From the beginning to the middle of the book, you start to get an idea of what the first chapter alludes to. Then at the end, everything clicks. Soon you understand the words of Rahim Khan from the first chapter: "There is a way to be good again”. The character development in this story applies to different characters. They progress at different paces than each other, but the results are astounding. Amir’s relationship with Baba strains at first. Especially when they have little to no common interests with each other. Yet later, their relationship starts to develop; Amir’s actions enough to make Baba proud. Speaking of actions and development, Amir has the most astounding character development. He starts as a meek boy, afraid of getting into any physical harm and makes little sacrifices. Yet as Amir grew, he stands up for himself without anyone else to depend on. Instead of running away or have someone else fight his battles, Amir grows to fight for
