Psalm 103, while verse eleven is not specifically address worship, I believe it could serve as a foundation for what the topic of worship covers. Psalm 103:11 says: “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is love for those who fear him.” Now of course this is not talking about worship in any way, I would suggest that worship is as high as the heavens are above the earth. Worship just is. With that having been said, worship should never try to be contained into one person’s own view of worship. A pastor once said that as much as we in North America like to compartmentalize things, worship is not something that we should ever try to compartmentalize, because if we do, which form or style of worship would pass the test? By this I mean that I have attended Churches that average one hundred people every Sunday and the average age was about thirty-five to fourty-five. Now that particular church was able to successfully put together dramas throughout the year. However I have also attended churches that averaged fifteen people every Sunday and the average demographics were aged around seventy-eight. Unfortunately not all churches can participate and have all the arts programs in the church when the entire congregation averages fifteen people. So I believe it all depends on the context and the reality of every individual church. However, I also believe that if the times are right for God, He can build a Church, but at the same time, I believe if the time is right, God can also close a Church, or amalgamate a few churches …show more content…
King David in the Old Testament said, I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. Unless King David was just trying to find a way to write another psalm, or just add some good sounding ‘filler’ then fine, but if not, how could we, or why would we not want to worship such an amazing, sovereign, omniscient, omnipresent God? He deserves our praise, he created every single person and the Bible says, Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. When you step back and just think about that all by itself, how could we not want to worship God? I mean he knows us right down to our very core, he knew before even ever sending His Son the evil sorts of things that we would do on earth, and yet, He still sent His only Son to die for us because even though he knew what sorts of evil and perverse things we are all capable of doing. So why would we not want to worship
If God did not mean for us to be Holy individuals He would not have instructed us to be so.
People have to give praise to the ruler of the land, which was proved in these two passages. In the Hymn they worshipped the sun and in Genesis they worshiped God. Even in modern times, people still worship the sun and God. Many cultures and regions have their own form of god that they worship, which is essential in maintaining a solid spirit. As a worshipper, people find peace and happiness from worshipping their god. In The Hymn, they found energy and positivity when worshipping the sun. Worshiping is a form of expression and can be done at any time and any
The psalmist, in Psalms 42, begins with a thirst for the presence of God. The Psalmist is clear about wanting to return home. Home is where the temple or the ‘House of God’ was. The psalmist seems to believe that the only way to get in the presence of God was to return to the temple. The psalmist expresses feels of depression as the psalmist wrestled with feels of abandonment by God. The psalmist confronts God with two questions. “Why was he forgotten?” “Why does God allow the enemies to oppress him?” The psalmist is jaxaposited between despair and hope. Once again, the psalmist proclaims that continued hope will be in God and praises will be given.
Psalm 113 reads like a 1st century pep talk for those with spiritual burnout. The writer makes his case for the Lord by pointing to the many ways that God earns our praise. These nine verses of scripture are saturated with three specific reasons to praise the Lord – He is Su...
Not as a firm guide, but as thought-provoking advice on how corporate worship can impact an ever-changing culture. I think any worship leader would be impacted by Dawn's questions: • Is God the subject of your corporate worship? • Does your worship build the Christian character of the individual and invite them into the community of Christianity? • Are you dumbing down your content to reach out? • How will you reach out in the midst of a market-driven, television age?
The necessity of religion is a topic that has been widely debated by many people for many years. The vast majority of the 7 and a half billion people on this earth practice some sort of religion but for what purpose? Whether it’s too give people hope for an afterlife or too fuel their need for contact with others people can list hundreds of different reasons why they rely on religion but is religion actually essential to our wellbeing and and life quality on this planet?
Today’s culture is one where people like to do as little work as possible. Even when it comes to reading our own scripture, The Holy Words of God, a lot of people like to look up one verse and reference it to something without knowing what the rest of the passage says. Psalms 109 is no exception, it is one the more widely misused passages as of late. A popular verse from Psalms 109 is verse 8 which reads “Let his days be few; and let another take his office”, this is seen in reference to our current president, but what people fail to realize is what else David is actually praying. This paper is going to go through Psalms 109 and unpack it verse by verse to show the true meaning of what David was praying and to give us a new look at how to pray.
Also, how He gives us the things that we ask for, and how He is faithful to the end, and will never leave or forsake you. Therefore, that is the reason we worship Him, because He is worthy of all of our praise, therefore, deserves to be glorified in the highest form of praise, which is, “Hallelujah!” As it states in the Bible, “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God” (Revelation 19:1). We can never fully understand God because our minds cannot comprehend who He is
“Human beings are made for worship. Everyone worships someone or something” (Calhoun 2005). The above statement is so true. Some people worship money, themselves, other people or pagan Gods. As for me I worship God the Almighty Father of Heaven and Earth. “True worship of God happens when we put God first in our lives” (Calhoun 2005). Worship isn’t just singing at the beginning of a church service on Sunday. Worship is a daily surrender where we put God first in everything such as our marriage, work life, friendships, family, money, and lifestyle. Worship is where we totally surrender and trust God with everything in our lives.
The life Jesus lived was a perfect pattern to be followed. He worshipped God in word and deed. And in every way lived a life that pleased God the Father. He was one with God, obedient to God, loved others perfectly, and became a literal sacrifice on the cross.
You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself. -- Swami Vivekananda "I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live as if there isn't and to die to find out that there is." -- Albert Camus In this essay, I will explore the religious experience in general and some of its variations around the world. The focus will be on the types of religious beliefs and religious leaders, especially in small-scale societies. An exploration of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, or any other major religion is beyond the scope of this essay.
A belief in God is relevant in our world today based on a number of reasons. Through God, human beings get direction on how to conduct themselves in the world. The word of God enlightens humans on evil, unjust, and worthless actions that they at times fail to acknowledge in both their conscious and unconscious states. God castigates the evil that man embraces. God does not dictate evil on man; however, man is the author of his own evil deeds. God is necessary in the modern world as a representation of good deeds. He directs people to follow a proper and fruitful path that leads people to their freedom. Freedom of a human being should not infringe other people’s rights. God provides a guideline on how to operate without infringing other people’s rights. To ascertain justly means of operation, God promises punishment on individuals who break the law (Hatina 29). In the absence of these measures, human beings behave within the scope of
Why anybody would want to go through life without knowing and understanding their purpose is beyond me, as is the case for hundreds of millions of people around the world. How is it that Christianity has become the largest religion in the world? It didn't draw upon the souls of millions because of its grandeur, but because of it appealed to something that billions around the wold struggle with. It proposed an answer to many of our lives problems. The church is open to any and all who are willing, and offer a place to discover the purpose in life, and develop a sense of self-worth and appreciation, which will then teach you how to live a fulfilling life.
Ideologies creates a sense of community, purpose and order. Similarly, I find that my religion provides me with the conceptual frameworks in which to ground my life. My life revolves around my Islamic commitments, even school and work is set around my Islamic timetable. So to me, Islam is not just about praying, fasting and so on. Yet, it’s also about my moral conduct, the education that I seek and my worldly actions. Growing up in a community that practices an Islamic lifestyle and culture has convinced me that Islam is one of the exceptional religions which stress the development of the positive moral and ethical. I was taught to live peacefully, help each other and also tolerate with other religions. Not only that, Islam also governs all facets of my life such as moral, spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and economic via the Quran and the Hadith. I also learnt the true values of my faith which is Islam is not only for the Muslim world, it is to be practiced wherever I am.
All welcoming, all loving, all knowing God, for me my Church is like a an close up of heaven will look . All colors, all ages, all backgrounds invited, souls are saved weekly. Faith is increased every Sunday and the Bible is even reflected on heavier Wednesday. Word Church is more then just a big grey, white, and red building, on the corner of Britain Road, with a big W symbol on the side. My church is a hospital, in the middle of a slowly dieng area. Previously dispositioned as an old furniture store, I am currently a member of, the newly remodeled Word church Akron. This was not my first church I attended, however it is the building block of my faith in Christianity . During the foundation of my childhood, I had my first experience with religion, at catholic and Pentecostal churches
