Waiting Time
Waiting time simply means a period of time which one must wait in order for a precise action to occur, after that action is requested. Patients’ waiting time has been defined as “the length of time from when the patient entered the outpatient clinic to the time the patient actually received his or her prescription” (Jamaiah, 2003). It is defined as the total time from registration until discussion with a doctor. There were two waiting times, the first is time taken to see a physician and the second is time to obtain medicine (Suriani, 2003). This paper deals with the waiting time to see physicians. Long waiting times are a serious problem for patients using urban health Centre’s in developing countries (Bachmann, 1998). A block

There was, however, an overall increase in patients' waiting times after introducing the system, mainly due to one typical day in the follow up study. Focus groups and interviews revealed that staff were doubtful at baseline but at follow up were positive about the system. Patients were keen about the appointment system at all stages. The study shows that block appointments can reduce patients’ waiting times for acute patients, but may not be suitable for all patients. Staff and patients the research object is models of inventory control under doubt. The aim of this paper is to get a broad review of more than 30 research papers and classify the models into groups, identify future research …show more content…
A web is made up of page that is commonly known as web page, and a web site is a computer program that runs a web server that provides access to a group of related web pages (Alex, 2000). A system is a set of independent components working together to achieve a common objective. Therefore a web based system is a system that is accessible over the internet by a user in order to achieve a particular task for a given purpose. The Internet is a system that is use to connect computers and computer networks. It helps to link millions of computer networks all over the world and it allows the users to get information stored on other computers from a long distance (James, 1999). According to Chua (2010) the public demand for better healthcare system and the alarming number of missed appointments have forced the healthcare sector to be familiar with how they carry care
The expense per discharge and the expense per adjusted discharge are both higher than average. The positive trend in outpatient profitability has been in an increase in profit per visit and net revenue per visit. Outpatients profit has influenced the hospitals in expanding their outpatients and shrinking its inpatient services. Inpatient charges increased the net revenue per discharge shown in the quartile information. The Riverview Community Hospital is known to provide high-quality services to its patients. It provides an adequate amount of revenue to cover its expenses. Moreover, it allows provides charity care without affecting its stability. Also, the Riverview community hospital has joint reimbursement from the government. The length of hospital stays has been below average with allowing doctors and nurses with effective resources. The average length is below average it is quite beneficial to both patients and the hospital because it is less costly, and opens up resources for other nurses and doctors not only does it help out the workers, but allows the patient to be taken care of with accessible facilities. Therefore, it
In order to properly address the issue and look for a remedy, it is necessary to understand the underlying conditions that create the problem before creating the means to manage the change required to correct the problem. The Crowded Clinic has multiple issues, including social and operational, which are creating the associated inaccessibility to services. The
Because of the lack of organization with the health care providers in Canada, the wait times are too long and can cause serious complications to any condition the patient went in for in the first place. This situation of how the health care system can resolve wait times was brought to the government but they continue to ignore the proposals brought to them. It is possible to resolve the problems of wait times without extreme change and expenses in the health care system. The solution is to be found in the reorganization of the health care providers. Lack of assistance in the emergency room can make ones illness to become worse, therefore, causes the patient to be forced to wait in emergency rooms for an extended period of time and when they are finally seen by a health care provider, the outcome is very poor due to lack of registered staff, physicians and proper assessment(Goldman & Macpherson, 2005, p.40). The objective of this paper is to discuss and critically analyze the conditions of emergency waiting rooms. The specific issue this paper intends to explore is extensive and prolonged waiting times for patients accessing health care, patients who need urgent treatment and the vulnerability of elderly patients and children. With an in-depth critique of the barriers to health care and shortcomings of emergency rooms, strategies will be provided to enhance a health care system that makes it more accessible and efficient.
There are a variety of health settings that provide patient health services. With the use of health services there has to be some type of health information exchange or system that will enable users to exchange data. Today there are networks that do this. Some of these networks are Community health information network (CHIN), Regional health information network (RHINO), National Health Information Network (NHIN) and Health Information technology for economic and clinical health act (HITECH Act). The purpose of this paper is to identify these networks, discuss the relationship among each other and lastly, explain their relationship to formation of a patient-centered management system and electronic health records (EHRs).
The resource utilization include frequency of emergency room visit, hospital admission rate, unscheduled office visit, ambulatory care visit, and prescription fulfillment (MSDS). The data can be collected from patient, hospital management of information system database, employer data, school data and insurance and medicaid claims (MSDS). A decrease use of emergency room visit, decrease work days and school days shows that chronic health condition are well controlled and the disease management program is working well and patients are able to enjoy healthy and quality
Did you ever think about how much time is spent on computers and the internet? It is estimated that the average adult will spend over five hours per day online or with digital media according to Emarketer.com. This is a significant amount; taking into consideration the internet has not always been this easily accessible. The world that we live in is slowly or quickly however you look at it: becoming technology based and it is shifting the way we live. With each day more and more people use social media, shop online, run businesses, take online classes, play games, the list is endless. The internet serves billions of people daily and it doesn’t stop there. Without technology and the internet, there would be no electronic health record. Therefore, is it important for hospitals and other institutions to adopt the electronic health record (EHR) system? Whichever happens, there are many debates about EHR’s and their purpose, and this paper is going to explain both the benefits and disadvantages of the EHR. Global users of the internet can then decide whether the EHR is beneficial or detrimental to our ever changing healthcare system and technology based living.
The film, The Waiting Room, paints a clear picture of the variety of obstacles that commonly occur in the emergency department. The majority of patients are uninsured, are using the hospital as their primary care physician, long wait times and communication challenges. This paper will outline challenges displayed in the documentary paired with different ideas working to create a more effective health care experience.
Predictability means the assurance that their products and services will be the same over time and it all locales. For general out-patient clinics, nurses will ask some st...
In today's health care environment many factors contribute to quality care. As a medical practice manager it is important to provide the best medical service for patients in addition to excellent levels of service. Appointment scheduling is a very important aspect of a smooth running medical practice. Appointment cancellation, no shows, and long waiting time by patients have a negative impact on the efficient running of the practice not only in lost revenue but the practices professional reputation as well (Kruse 2010).
Imagine that you have just earned your business degree and have been hired as a hospital administrator at a small hospital that, like many others, is experiencing financial problems. Having studied finance, you know that efficient cash management is important to all firms in all industries to meet the day-by-day operations of the firm. One way to ensure such efficiency is to use a carefully planned and managed inventory control system that can reduce the amount of cash an organization has tied up in inventory. Being familiar with Just-In-Time Inventory, you know it is a proven system that helps reduce the costs of managing inventory.
In many parts of the world that are considered lower or middle-class countries, health disparities are cause of major concern that leads to unnecessary disease and possible death. Many variables affect how and why many citizens of lower and middle-class countries struggle to obtain adequate healthcare. One region of the world classified as a lower socio economic territory is Ethiopia. Many factors contribute to the lack of health care in Ethiopia such as access to care, high cost of care, and being uneducated, to name a few. One idea that hinders many citizens in Ethiopia to attain healthcare is the access to the healthcare system. This research project will entail the issue of access to the health care system; ways it is affecting the lives of those living in Ethiopia, and measures that can be taken to possibly increase the availability and attainment of healthcare.
The internet has the potential of making the services of a healthcare organization more available to an organization and enabling easier flow of information. On a survey conducted by the National Research Council, it was found that the internet leads to healthcare organizations being able to reach more clients and being able to reduce costs by reaching more clients. When an organization is able to directly reach a client, they eliminate the cost that would have resulted due to intermediaries. Healthcare organizations can also reach partner organizations like pharmaceutical companies and hence reduce costs of any middle men. “This would also result to cheaper prices on the drugs for the consumers. This is one of the strategies for cost reductions for many organizations” (Witmer,
The Internet is a global network connecting millions of personal, institutional and company computers. The number of computers used by the internet is growing rapidly. The United States is connected with over 100 countries worldwide and linked together to exchange of data, news and opinions. The Internet is decentralized design. This means that there isn't just one computer that stores all of the information from the Internet. There are many independent host servers located throughout the US and the world that store the information made available to the global Internet community.
Transportation Central equipment stores rather than ward based stores for commonly used items. Overprocessing: Asking patients for the same information several times. Inventory Waiting Lists -. Excess stock in stockrooms.
The internet is a very functional form of electronic communication. Let’s think external delivery. Using the internet as a source of delivery for communicating patient information this is considered external delivery that transmits instantaneously between all healthcare businesses. The internet gives us the tools to do a lot, expand technology in the healthcare field that will allow the physicians and their patients to...
