Many people who are honored aren’t honorable. In Shakespeare’s Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, a very proud and dishonorable character, trumps Brutus’ speech to the public regarding the assassination of Caesar. After Brutus convinces the public that the assassination was necessary Antony steps up and turns them from loyal to Brutus to wanting to kill him. This is because the public honors Antony more than Brutus even though his speech was more honorable. The crowd couldn’t see though Antony’s manipulating speech which didn’t technically break his agreement with Brutus but had more of an effect than if he did. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, one of the least honorable characters, Napoleon, gradually himself into a human. He takes over

Julius Caesar was a very influential figure in Roman history. Many features of the Roman Empire came from his reign as dictator. But what, specifically, were some of those great achievements? In this research paper, I will explain Julius Caesar’s youth, the Roman Republic before Caesar came to power, the Roman government before Caesar became dictator-for-life, the effects of Julius Caesar, the reasons for his assassination, and what affects there were when the public learned about his assassination.
Who was Julius Caesar? Julius Caesar accomplished many things in his day, which most would consider unbelievable. He has been considered a tyrant or dictator, and some believe he was one of the world’s greatest politician. In this paper we will compare the textbook and documentation that was written around 44 B.C.E the time of his death. The documents are considered to be “primary sources”, because of the timeframe in which they were written. To get a grasp on whom, Julius Caesar really was, we need to not only dive into the primary sources, but we need to view his accomplishments. By analyzing his accomplishments, textbook, and the primary sources we can better understand just how Julius Caesar was portrayed during his reign.

Once established, the storyline observes the ability of the protagonist to maintain, destroy, or enhance their reputation. The great play writer William Shakespeare demonstrates the difficulties the characters in his plays experience in maintaining a good reputation, greatly due to the outside influences of others. An examination of the impact influence, through the wording of William Shakespeare and from a historical perspective, can have on ones repute, as shown through Shakespearean character Mark Antony from Antony and Cleopatra, will illustrate that a good reputation, while difficult to obtain, is even harder to maintain when left on its own accord.

Mark Anthony and Brutus in the Aftermath of Caesar's Death In the immediate aftermath of Caesar's death, Mark Anthony sends a servant to Brutus with a message asking for 'vouchsafe that Anthony May safely come to him' without being killed. This shows that Mark Anthony believes that Brutus is noble and will keep his word and Mark Anthony trusts it. Brutus, naively, is quick to accept Mark Anthony as a friend saying, 'I know that we shall have him well to friend' indicating his lack of judgement because he feels that Mark Anthony will understand the reasons behind Caesar's murder. Brutus believes that Mark Anthony's love and loyalty for Caesar is outstripped by his love for Rome. Mark Anthony tries to convey this feeling when he praises Brutus by building up his trust and support.
Mark Antony - the guy is a genius. He gives the most powerful and emotional speech ever conjured up by a human mind. He gets this powerful emotion from the pain of the loss of his friend, Julius Caesar. In Shakespeare's play about the ill-fated Roman ruler, a band of conspirators plot to kill Julius Caesar. They succeed in doing so, and Caesar's best friend Antony is infuriated. However, he manages to keep his cool, until he is allowed to speak at Caesar's funeral. Brutus, the leader of the conspiracy, attempts to win the popularity and support of the crowd, and he does so with a speech full of glittering generalities. His speech sounded good, but really meant nothing. The people favor Brutus until Antony takes the stand and delivers the cold hard facts, turning the mob of people into an angry stampede. The persuasive techniques that were used by Antony helped him to gain the crowd's support. If he did not use these techniques, Antony would simply be carried off the stage and thrown into the mob. The techniques that he used (to make his speech persuade the mob to help him) were: the fact that he acknowledged the opposing argument, his slowly rising emotional expression, and the use of a simple refrain that gets more and more sarcastic each time around.
