There are many people that go overboard with power. Once they get their hands on just a little bit, they start to want more and more. They downgrade others to make them feel unimportant. The firefighters in the story of Fahrenheit 451, went mad with power; the firefighters in the story resemble some people in our day of age. The story Fahrenheit 451, depicted power v. weakness, hypocrisy, and self growth.

What is this power? Descartes explained it to be an active power or tendency of bodies to move, expressing the power of God. He distinguished between motion and the tendency to move, but Hobbes was anxious to argue that conatus actually is motion. In The Elements of Law he says it to be the "internal beginning of animal motion" (EL I.7.2), and in his later writings the notion of 'endeavor' refers to the beginning or first part of any kind of motion. Because motion is for Hobbes "a continual relinquishing of one place, and acquiring of another" (De Corp II.8.10), the beginning of a motion of a body must be an infinitely small change in the place of the body. Accordingly, Hobbes defines endeavor "to be motion made in less space and time than can be given; ... that is, motion made through the length of a point, and in an instant or point of time" (De Corp III.15.2).
The image and influence of power has plagued society since the day of its creation. Starting with Adam and Eve yearning to be like God, cultures across the world have desired to be recognized for the power that they possess in any possible way. In the instance of “Ozymandias” by Percy Bysshe Shelley, the arrogance of extreme power is shown in ruins as far as the eye can see. Through a peculiar point of view, desolate setting, situational irony, and stark symbolism, Shelley, provides the reader with a distinct way to view the power that so many people and nations look to possess.
Peter Philip Keith grew up with a black nanny and her son. P.K. never had any problems or questions about race mixing, nor did he care. All he knew was that they were very helpful and nice people. P.K then goes to attend school away from his mother so that she can get better. But when he is at school he does not understand the logic behind the hatred towards the blacks.

The existence of power in all of its forms has ruled earthly nature for as long as time. Taking this into account, the forces that have governed even the simplest of interactions, such as the alpha system of a wolf pack, or the superior covalent bonds seen in water molecules that require an excessive amount of energy to be broken, reveal that there is a plethora of instances where power is capable of determining the state of interactions within life and the fundamental laws of physical elements. Inevitably, the ideals of power managed to seep into the minds of humans, dominating its presence in practically every aspect of human values and culture, and shaping the organization
The concept of power is present within various realms of all organizations. Power, however, is not something that should necessarily be looked at negatively. There are justifiable types of power that may be important to criminal justice organizations. The main role of power in criminal justice administration should be to gain compliance from subordinates of all types, and turn that power over time into acceptable forms of authority (Stojkovic et al., 2008). It is for this reason that power is an important attribute in criminal justice agencies.
Some theorists believe that ‘power is everywhere: not because it embraces everything, but because it comes from everywhere… power is not an institution, nor a structure, nor possession. It is the name we give to a complex strategic situation in a particular society. (Foucault, 1990: 93) This is because power is present in each individual and in every relationship. It is defined as the ability of a group to get another group to take some form of desired action, usually by consensual power and sometimes by force. (Holmes, Hughes &Julian, 2007) There have been a number of differing views on ‘power over’ the many years in which it has been studied. Theorist such as Anthony Gidden in his works on structuration theory attempts to integrate basic structural analyses and agency-centred traditions. According to this, people are free to act, but they must also use and replicate fundamental structures of power by and through their own actions. Power is wielded and maintained by how one ‘makes a difference’ and based on their decisions and actions, if one fails to exercise power, that is to ‘make a difference’ then power is lost. (Giddens: 1984: 14) However, more recent theorists have revisited older conceptions including the power one has over another and within the decision-making processes, and power, as the ability to set specific, wanted agendas. To put it simply, power is the ability to get others to do something they wouldn’t otherwise do. In the political arena, therefore, power is the ability to make or influence decisions that other people are bound by.
Robert Kagan, American neoconservative scholar and political commentator created an international sensation in 2002 with his essay "Power and Weakness," that he later expanded into a bestselling book entitled Of Paradise and Power. His essay announced that "Americans are from Mars and Europeans are from Venus."
Steel wool is a great source of tinder when combined with a nine volt battery. It becomes an independent fire starter as well as having the ability to be used as tinder for your fire needs. The steel wool should be fine grade for this to work. Place the nine volt battery against the steel wool. The metal conducts the energy from the battery into the steel wool, so it catches on fire. The combination means that they can be used as a backup to other fire starting methods in an emergency. Steel wool can be used while wet too.
Transportation is movement of people and goods from one location to another. Throughout history, the economic wealth and military power of a people or a nation have been closely tied to efficient methods of transportation. Transportation provides access to natural resources and promotes trade, allowing a nation to accumulate wealth and power. Transportation also allows the movement of soldiers, equipment, and supplies so that a nation can wage war.
