The Importance Of Education In Africa

The education being provided for young children all around the world is vital for the future generations to come. How would you like your children to receive an education from teachers that are not very educated themselves? That is exactly what is going on in schools all around Africa and many other underdeveloped countries. But this will focus on Africa. Children in Africa deserve the right to a quality education just as everyone else is receiving in numerous places around the world. Education in Africa began as a tool to prepare the local youth to take their place in their respective societies and not necessarily for life outside of Africa. In some areas, the pre-European colonialism schooling system consisted of groups of older people
Trying to teach a difficult course, like math and the children are hardly able to understand what you are saying is going to make that task for both the students and teachers a lot harder than it should be. A mathematics register does not only consist of terminology, but it also involves the social usage of particular words and expressions in mathematics. It is actually argued that knowing the mathematics register in one language, is probably not an indication of knowing it in another language (Khisty, 1995). Mastering mathematics is sometimes considered to be a two-step process: firstly, learners have to understand the mathematical concepts (Richards, 1982). Secondly, they have to be able to communicate their understanding of these concepts in written format (Brown, 1994).
Another focus is motivation. This is not really a money related focus but the children need motivation to stay in school. “By the age of eight, school children from the most affluent 20 percent of South Africa’s population are already significantly out-performing children from poorer backgrounds.” (IRIN, 2011). These children will never make it all the way through school if they don’t receive any credit for accomplishing things in school. This motivation can come from anyone, but teachers, or parents would be the main ones it would need to come from, preferably
Many people would say “they don’t care” or “why should I care”. Just put it in perspective as if those were your children not receiving a good enough education to better themselves just cause the teacher did not know what they were teaching, or cause the languages spoken by the teacher and students were not the same. Every kid deserves an equal opportunity to receive a quality education no matter where you live, because the children don’t get to choose where they want to live when they are born. They are just born there, it is not fair to judge a child’s ability to learn based off of where he/she is
