One of my favorite foods is Chinese food. Chinese food has to be one of the best foods that was ever created. There 's not one thing I dislike about Chinese, because it is amazingly delicious. I eat Chinese food at least 3 or 4 times a week, and I probably shouldn 't, because it 's unhealthy, but I can 't help it. Everyone always ask me do I ever get tired of eating Chinese, and the answer is always no! There’s so many choices not just fried rice, and I think that 's the main thing people think of when they think of chinese, but not me. I go to downtown Belleville Golden Dragon so much that they usually know what I 'm ordering by heart. Whenever I go there I usually get ham fried rice and eggrolls, but if not that than I get vegetable egg …show more content…
We are full of jokes, dancers, singers, and christians. When we all together it 's always jokes being thrown and laughing into we cry. My family is not small at all, we are kind of a big family, but I’ve seen bigger families than us. Let 's start off talking about my immediate family. My one and only mother named Nataka, her name is unique but we all have unique names in my family. My birth giver is what I like to call her sometimes, but she is literally the funniest woman I know, she’s also my best friend even though she gets on my nerve everyday, but she is one of those moms that likes to get out of the house, and go have fun. She thinks she can dance and always wants to have dance battles with me out of nowhere, my friends think she is one of the coolest moms to have and of course I can agree with that. I love my mom, and she’s the best! My sister is one of the craziest girls I know. Her name is Nyosha, another unique name and she’s nineteen years old. We are two years apart, and she always likes to act like my mom. She is very talented, she has a amazing voice and she sings all day everyday from when she goes to sleep to waking up in the morning. She is also hilarious. I think we get our sense of humor from our mom. My friends always say I wish I had your sister, she’s so cool but they just don 't know how annoying she is and can get on your last nerve. We fight like cats and dogs all the time, but if anyone messed with her or me we have each others
My family has always been there for me which is why I took our family photo for my art project. Even though we can get under each other’s skin sometimes at the end of the day we all still love each other and have one another to talk to and to blow steam off of. Like in the books how Izzie and Mira went to their mom for help I go to my mom for help all the time. Mira’s brothers were there to watch out for them when it came to boys and dating. I hate to say it but my little brother and younger guy cousins have gone on dates with me and my boyfriend’s more than anyone. I guess what I’m trying to say is that family will always be there for you. Even the times when you wish they weren’t. In the end family is all you’ve got.
For over 30 years, Panda Express seems to be America’s favorite Chinese restaurant. It may seem that Panda Express is authentic Chinese food, but it is not reflective at all of what traditional Chinese cuisine is actually like. In comparison to restaurants and cuisine in China, entrees served at Panda Express are completely American and actually digress from Chinese culture. The recipes and ingredients used at Panda Express are distinguishably noticeable and highly dissimilar from authentic Chinese meals. Not only does Panda Express serve foods that adapt to American tastes, specific dishes are created to cater to the average American palate.
First question I have is, why is it that I feel that our family is much bigger than the regular
My family is a little different than most. I have two families; I have my mother’s side, which I live with, and I have my father’s side, which I only see about once a year. My families are
What most people notice about other cultures is their food. Some types of food are common amongst other cultures, so most people tend to classify that food with the culture it is most common in. Like white rice is Chinese food or sushi is Japanese food. Classifying certain foods as a part of other cultures isn’t a bad thing. It is a bad thing when negative connotations are added to it. That is called stereotyping. An example of stereotyping is when a person sees a certain type of food and thinks negative thoughts about an ethnic or cultural group. We are going to focus on the stereotypes about black people, Asian people, and American citizens to see how food can be used as a tool of racism instead of just being eaten.
When cultural diffusion happens, “adjustments are made to accommodate the value of the host society” (Lu & Fine 538). This adjustment, a process in America referred as Americanization, varies among the many cuisines present in the country (Lu & Fine 538). When looking specifically at the Chinese ethic food, some changes occurred between authentic and the Americanized version. As explained by the owner of a Chinese restaurant, Sichuan, in Lu & Fine’s article, Americans are not particularly found of fish head and
I was born in one of the countries in Asia, and our staple food is rice. Rice is always at the center of the table, and the rest of the viand surrounds it. Here in the United States, my household still eat rice every day, accompanied by cooked vegetables and meat. My food choices are influenced by culture and family. Vegetables and fruits of my choice are abundant at the International Market and other Asian grocery stores. Vegetables are also available for a cheaper price at the farmers market. I myself buy these foods to ensure its freshness, prepare and cook them for my entire family. Inspired by Asian and American cuisine, our food is prepared with variety of cooking styles; such as dry like barbecues, baked and fried, with sauce
My family consists of my mother, father, and myself. I was adopted at birth and was raised by a family member
Growing up, all of my family members managed to keep close relationships with one another despite occasional conflicts. I have spent a great deal of time with all of my family, probably more than the average child. As a young child, my grandparents became similar to a second set of parents to me; however, I was exceptionally close to my grandmother on my
My family growing up was composed of my mother, father, four siblings, and both paternal grandparents. My mother and father were the primary caregivers, and we have a very loving and open communications amongst us. Growing up, my family owned a bakery, we all helped/work in it. If my parent’s had to run errands, we were left to care by my grandparents.
Shengyuan Lin Writing 2 Professor Lefebvre 3 March 2016 Irvine Chinese Food: A Demonstration of Cultural Pluralism America was known as the Melting Pot; people from all over the world brought their culture, custom and cuisine, which changed over years and become something different. However, compare to other places in America, the City of Irvine is more vibrant and pluralistic; here people from different cultural groups preserve their own culture and custom. In Irvine, we can taste cuisines from different regions in the world, which include Chinese Cuisine. Nevertheless, Chinese food served in different restaurants in Irvine can diverge significantly.
Food matters. Nevertheless, food safety in China is worse than what you thought; you can never imagine how toxic it is. Although there are variety choices of restaurant for us to eat nowadays, many people still choose to eat at home. Not only to save money, but also be sensible for their own health. Think about our situation now, we can constantly buy meats that we think is fresh and yummy, but who knows if it’s healthy and safe? Is it truly what you want? What materials will the restaurant serves you? Food safety affects people a lot. Nowadays, especially in China, many citizens are already despair in this affair. Food safety is one of the most principal issues to the entire world; as one of the most important feature in everybody’s life,
There may be times where no one is there for you, your friends betray you in some way, and the only one that will be waiting with open arms are you family. It is very important to always cherish and appreciate the love, comfort, help, and attention that your family offers you because if you don’t, you may just end up regretting it in the end. A family does not necessarily have to be considered blood. If you have close friends that you see as a brother or sister because of their loyalty to you and the way they treat you, they are considered family. A family will always bring peace, love, and happiness, and though there may be times that you bump heads with your family members, you always run back to each other and speak as if everything is perfectly
Through new experiences, people are impacted by the unique taste of food in Asia. Nevertheless, not many people in the West know the taste of authentic food of, for example, Chinese food. A previous faculty member at NYU’s center for Multicultural Education and Programs, Rachel Kuo, a writer for Everyday Feminism, states: “The relationship between food and culture also means that food can be used as a tool of marginalization” (Kuo). For example, when thinking about Chinese food in the West, Americans often blurt out their main dishes such as fried rice or Lo Mein with General Tso’s chicken. Many assume that these cuisines are the traditional Chinese food. However, this may not be the case in a different country like Korea or even the original country, China. In Korea, Chinese food consists of noodles made with a black bean pasting called Jajang-meon and fried beef topped with sweet, pineapple sauce called tangsuyook. On the other hand, in China “Steamed white rice is the most commonly eaten food… Chinese noodles come dry or fresh and are often served in soups or fried as toppings such as Shou Mian” (Wikipedia). This difference in the authentic Chinese food and Chinese food served in the West provide clear evidence of manipulation for Chinese food in the West. Thus, this modification in food creates a homogenous idea when thinking about food
My family is a love I have. My immediate family consists of six people: my dad, mom, and three sisters and me. However, I love these people on a different scale than I love books. Whether it is a hand to guide, a tissue to wipe away tears, or simply a smile to make my day better I can count on people to love me and so, henceforth, I love them in return. I love my parents for many reasons. They are always there for me when I need help or am need of anything.
