Ceiling Insulation: The ceiling of your property is the second most contributor (area) where heat is lost after walls. Did you know that over 25% of the heat generated by your heaters escapes through the roof? The easiest way to prevent this heat loss is installing Ceiling Insulation (it could be the ceiling in the loft cavity.) Why this much heat leaks through the ceiling/roof? Warm air is lighter than cold air. As a result, warm air rises and leaks through the ceiling. And, that is why you should install adequate insulation in the loft or ceiling.
What takes place during summer? Heat from the sun enters your loft or roof cavity via radiation. So, loft/roof cavity temperature increases. This heat will invade your home via conduction. What would you do to compensate heat gain via the ceiling? Well, you will keep air conditioners running all day long, and your energy bills will
Pink Batts, Polyester Insulation, Glasswool Batts, and Earthwool Batts are the top options available as Ceiling Insulation Melbourne. Our safe insulation materials can easily be installed by homeowners. Anyway, you should contact professionals in the industry if your house is from the 40s, 50, and 60s. Old-days insulation can contain traces of asbestos. So, removing such insulation yourself can cause serious side effects. Hire a home inspector if you are not sure of this asbestos contamination.
Ceiling Insulation Benefits:
1) A massive saving on energy bills: Experts in the insulation industry have found -- up to 40% - 45% can be saved on cooling and heating. In other words, the money you spend on roof insulation will give you more in return (in the long run.)
2) Comfortable loft conversion: Installing roof insulation is a must-do for a living in a loft conversion room. Converting the loft space to a living room is the latest trend in Australia. Why don't you make use of that
The ceiling was made of plasterboard and the walls were of Masonite coved with artificial leather.
in the same way that a greenhouse does, by trapping heat energy inside the atmosphere. Unfortunately, since the
Every home has its own distinctive requirements, and roofing contractors offer many different services to help keep homes totally free from the elements, and to save owners on repair costs as a long-term solution. This can include repairs, insurance claims and roof inspections. A roof inspection can tackle issues, or perhaps be employed as a completely preventative measure for the peace of mind that the roof is working, and shielding the residence as designed.
Heat is lost through the atmosphere because of combustion. a process where a substance and oxygen or other elements combine to produce heat and light (fire). Combustion of alcohol produces water. and carbon dioxide. Therefore the amount of heat which is not being used to heat the water lost through the air.
Exploring of Asbestos Asbestos (Greek a-, "not"; sbestos, "extinguishable") is a group of fibrous metamorphic minerals. The name is derived for its historical use in lamp wicks; the resistance of asbestos to fire has long been exploited for a variety of purposes. It was used in fabrics such as Egyptian burial cloths and Charlemagne's tablecloth, which, according to legend, he threw in a fire to clean. When asbestos is used for its resistance to fire or heat, the fibres are typically mixed with cement or woven into fabric or mats. It was used in brake shoes and gaskets for its heat resistance, on electric oven and hotplate wiring for its electrical insulation at elevated temperature, and in buildings for its flame-retardant and insulating properties, its tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals.
Does your part of the country sees cold winters? If so, your homes roof is going to be taking a lot of abuse. Now and hail could be causing problems with a roof that has asphalt shingles, and the cold temperatures can cause problems with freezing water and ice dams. Here is what you need to know to prevent damage to your roof this winter.
Asbestos is a group of silicate minerals that is now a known carcinogen. However, it was once used in a variety of construction materials, including insulation and pipe wrappings, due to
Green roofs, also known as living roofs, eco roofs, roof terraces or roof gardens, are a roof design of a building that is partly or entirely enclosed with vegetation and growing medium, therefore, the roof is planted over a waterproofing membrane and it has extra layers, for instance roof fence and drainage. He and Jim, (2010) states that green roof require the making of vegetated space on the top of artificial structures design. They can help to reduce the thermal properties of buildings to produce cooling energy conservation and increase social comforts. There are two main types of Green Roof-Intensive and Extensive.
Increased energy consumption: Increased temperatures during summer in cities increases the demand for energy as many people would want to air condition their properties. Studies have shown that a spike of energy demands occurs for air conditioning or cooling , this spike is between 1.5 to 2 per cent for every 0.6°C increase in air temperatures 20 to 25°C showing us that the community requires about 5 to 10 per cent more electricity to cope with the urban heat effect.
This is why they think it would be better to leave the product alone and not remove it. Spokesperson Carla Pereira told the News that asbestos should often not be a concern as long as it is maintained properly. “It’s important to understand that the presence of asbestos in our schools is not a health risk. Health concerns only arise if asbestos is crumbled or pulverized,” said Pereira. This means that in its regular state, asbestos is harmless, but once it is crumbled into finer pieces capable of being breathed in, it is very dangerous. Health Canada has made several steps in trying to fix this situation, such as giving teachers, students, and faculty safety lessons on avoiding
The biggest difference between summer and winter is the climate. One of the main attractions of summer is the warm weather. I like being outside on a bright sunny day, and letting the sun warm my body. I also like that we get an occasional thunder storm. The excitement fills the air when I see the thunder clouds rolling in. The sound of thunder, and the lighting shows that come from the storms are fascinating. On the other hand winter i...
The most obvious problem being glass, which makes up most of the structure. In the 16 Th. Century bull eyes glass was very expensive. The economics of having a conservatory did not become more realistic until Louis Lucas de Nehou invented sheet glass in 1688. The problem of glass was in the winter when the water would expand between the layers of windows and break. The other issue with glass is sealing it to keep water out and moisture in. Sealing the glass also affects the heating and ventilation. Stoves were most commonly used for heating the building. The cost of heating can differ in cost depending on warm of the green house. The glass house could be kept as warm as the rest of the house, costing a lot of money, or just warm enough to keep it from freezing, costing less. Ventilation can be solved by opening and closing the windows along with elaborate piping systems is desired. Other ways to reduce the air temperature is by having shading. This can be natural such as shade by deciduous trees, or vines. The other option is to have shades made of fabric, wood or another material that can be drawn when needed.

There are various ways which one can space heat their house. The most common way is to use a furnace, however, stoves, fireplaces, electric resistance heaters and electrically powered heat pumps can also be used to heat the house. Furnaces run mostly off natural gas and tend to be around 60-90% efficient. Older units can be as low as 50% efficient. Electric resistance heaters are usually around 100% efficient at producing heat. However, this statistic is slightly misleading when thinking about total efficiency because you must account for the electric energy being consumed by the heater. Power plants are only able to produce electric energy from natural gas at about 35% efficiency. Consequently, electricity is more expensive than natural gas to produce, making electric resistance heaters more expensive to operate. This energy cost must also be accounted for when adding up the total cost of electric resistance heating.
Normally, the solar radiation will pass through the atmosphere. Some of the solar radiation will absorb by the earth surface and the rest will reflect by the atmosphere. However, the greenhouse gas in the atmosphere will trap some solar radiation. As a result, the average temperature in the earth surface will be increase. Therefore, the greenhouse gas will cause the climate change.
