Mindsets for teaching and learning

The importance of mindsets in our learning and teaching has been a very useful concept for me as a teacher in planning for teaching and learning. only after going through the video lectures and viewing the videos as suggested in this course on the same, I realized how important a role is played by cultivating a growth mindset in ourselves as this helps us to self examine whether we have a growth mindset or a fixed one. only a growth mindset can help a teacher become more learning oriented as a teaching professional and inculcate curiosity within ourselves to explore, learn, and experiment. all through my learning years as a student and even as a teacher, I was made to believe that intelligence is fixed and that one is born with a certain level of IQ which differs from person to person and that some people are born smart and some are not. how true is the fact that we develop this fixed mindset because we don 't want to challenge our intellect and what we know or are capable of knowing. I feel that if a teacher has a firm growth mindset, it will definitely rub on to her students too. Because a growth mindset will encourage us to take up challenges without fear or doubt and don 't give up easily in the face of problems or hurdles. The inculcation of a growth mindset first within myself and then in my learners ' minds will help me teach them perseverance and courage to fight and learn, without giving up saying 'I can 't do this, because I 'm not smart enough. ' That 's such a wonderful and positive thought to have as a learner. More still, the seven dimensions of the growth mindset explained the lecture are such an exposition for a teacher who 's passionate about his/her field and trying to make a difference to the teaching learning
