• Prepare a brief paragraph on the impact of Sputnik and "A Nation at Risk ' on public education ( treat separately ).
• When the Soviet Union launched “Sputnik” in 1957 that put America on a speed track to have science, mathematics, and foreign language programs governmentally assistance within schools. It was a “space race,” but also a reflection of fear. Fear that America could not remain a world leader; therefore, our population was on high alert for education and technology. The National Defense Education Act was passed, this allowed different level of assistance form the content areas taught in public schools, to loan given to students in field of a particular study.

is world leaders in public education because we give standards that need to be met by schools, teachers, and students. With the identification of these areas there is an understanding of the expectations for schools across the nation. The U.S educational system includes all students with disabilities in our public education system. One way we are not leaders in education is that we are a “one size fits all.” Our vocational programs have diminished leaving only the core academic demands. For example, understanding not all students will use the higher level mathematics of Algebra 2 within the everyday life of a cashier in a supermarket. • Briefly explain the statement "Fairness of taxation is increased when more kinds of wealth are included".
• The “Fairness of Taxation or Wealth Tax” is where taxes are calculated by the net worth of the person or the couple (household). This would be hard for tax collectors to determine each and every component of net worth of a person.
