Smartphones and social media expand our universe. We can connect with others or collect information easier and faster than ever( ). Smartphones are one of the biggest technology advances we have seen in a long time. We took a computer that used to be the size of a house and shrunk it down to something that can fit in your pocket. Not only is it a mini computer, its something you can use as a camera or a messenger to connect with friends. Smart phones are really improving todays society by making it easier to reach people as well as your goals.

There is so many things that the internet is good for, for example this paper is being typed only with the internet. It required no paper which of course helps out the environment. With the internet comes amazing apps, and everyone knows about the newest app thats trending called Uber. This is a great example because you are giving people the opportunity to get jobs by become drivers. Also you may see less accidents due to drinking because more and more people are calling an Uber when they need a ride home instead of driving drunk. A big thats coming out of the internet is online classes, and i know people say that its bad because you become anti social and don 't make any friends that way. But if you think about it think of a kid that has a job trying to provide for himself and he wants to get an education but he just doesn 't have tine. Well with online classes he takes the classes on his time and can still get his education. Finally the biggest thing the internet is known for is connect people. You have Facebook and loads of relationship sites trying to get new people to meet. With Facebook you could reconnect with an old classmate you thought you may never talk to again. With all
Education, expression, accessibility, these are all benefits to us as internet users. As Cascio said “Google isn't the problem; it's the beginning of a solution” (Cascio). Google is a part of the internet therefore Cascio’s words can still be applied to the idea of the internet being a tool of more use than harm. Technology has proven to be nothing but helpful by improving the life we live. The world is constantly changing and as humans we are too, as Cascio said “How do we cope? By getting smarter” (Cascio). This means we've allowed technology to assist in the tasks we can't do alone and found faster and better methods for problem solving instead of taking difficult and struggling
The telephone was said to be invented by Alexander Graham Bell, some critics believe that the real inventor was a man named Elisha Gray. After many debates people commonly now believe that Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone. Inspired by his deaf parents he wanted to invent something that people could use easily and was easy to access. So he worked on his invention day and night for many days. Eventually He got the perfect thing that he had been looking for. He had finally invented a device that you could hear human voices through technology. On March 7, 1876 after all of Alexander G. Bell’s hard work he patented his great invention...
Our modern day society depends on technology for everything, can anyone imagine a life without their phone or computer? Probably not, social media and other popular applications have become so ingrained into our daily lives. Not only can we connect with people anytime throughout the day but we also have so many useful applications that help us on a daily basis. Thinking back to when I was eight years old, I couldn 't wait for sixth grade because my parents had promised to get me a cell phone, I remember counting down the days till the summer of fifth grade was over because I already knew which cell phone I wanted. Once I got it I couldn’t stop showing my mom all of the cool things it could do. Which looking back at it today, it really couldn
Little do these parents know having a cell phone is hurting their social skills. Parents are worried about if their children are doing inappropriate things online or going to get hurt by cyberbullying,t when really they are worrying about the wrongs things. Bindley says,“But what about a more basic question like, Will they be able to hold their own in conversation!” (Katherine Bindley) Always staring at their phones texting their friends and peers is making it harder for them to be able to speak in person.Child psychologist Melissa Ortega notices the problems with high schoolers today from simply talking to them for a couple minutes. They avoid conversation by looking at their phones every two minutes to see if they received a text back. Binldey then says, “Another thing I’m noticing is they may have trouble initiating interactions, those small talk situations” (Katherine Bindley). They use text messages for small talk now to avoid the in person conversations. Just making small talk with a stranger when on an elevator is something of the past because of cell phones. There are no awkward situations when people can be scrolling on their phone instead of making conversation. Gary Small said, “We all know the story of kids breaking up with each other through text message. When you have to fire someone or give them bad news, it’s uncomfortable. In facetoface conversation, you’ve
The Internet gives us a seemingly endless supply of resources; we can search for information, communicate with others, or use it for our own personal work or pleasure. The Internet connects us to the rest of the evolving world, in all different countries around the world. With the ability to seek information on the Internet, we can gain knowledge about an endless supply of topics. For example, if someone wanted to learn how to plant a tree they can simply navigate to Google and type in “how to plant a tree.” Furthermore, thousands of pages will appear with step by step instructions demonstrating the process of planting a tree. This knowledge has made our society smarter because we can figure things out on our own, but at the same time save money; we do not have to pay someone else to tell us how to plant a tree. It can really benefit students in school because it allows u...
People are always on their phones skimming through social media, texting long distance relatives and even looking at the news. The internet can help to create new friends and stay in contact with relatives that may live far away. According to the article, “Is Google making us Stupid?” by Peter Norvig, internet users are more likely to be exposed to a diversity of ideas. When people use google or anything on the internet, it sprouts ideas that can use to build off of. Also, society can gain more knowledge on important matters, including politics and daily
On June 2nd, 1875, Bell had finally thought that had made the first invention of the telephone. Then on July 9th, 1877, The Bell telephone company was officially formed. (Feinstein 68). Once he had officially finished his
The notion that the cell phone may one day become obsolete may never become reality. The concept of personal computing and communication (which is essentially what the smartphone is today) can never be defunct. Humans are built to connect with one another and we see instances of this throughout our lifetime. We are born into families, biological or not. We go to church to gather with our congregation. We’re sent to school to learn with other children our age. To eventually work with like-minded people, meet our spouses and have a family of our own. Our phones revolutionized even more with the bang of social media. The proliferation of social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram just to name a few, forever changed the dynamic of our social interactions. Through Instagram I can lie on the beaches of Cap Ferrat in the French Riviera with my cousin who visits there every year or I can open my Vine app and swim with tropical fishes in the Bahamas with my best friend Chelsi who loves the beach. In addition, cell phones enable us to interact with people we wouldn’t normally encounter. This not only permits us to learn from one other and the world around us, but we can help in times of need. In fact, during Hurricane Sandy our cell phones played an important role. In 2012 someone had the idea to create a Facebook page that bridged the gap between victims and good Samaritans
Do people actually believe that their lives haven’t been affected by social media, because it has. Social media has integrated into peoples lives more than realized. Social media involves social interactions, using highly accessible and sizeable publishing techniques, and is addicting to the public. Social media plays a very important role and has respectfully influenced people virtually in every aspect of their lives. Media is considered to be one of the most influential sources to know what’s happening in the world. Newspapers, magazines, the radio, television, and internet are the main types of media. This greatly affects people’s lives because it creates a new perspective of techniques
The Internet has created a generation of the most efficient multi-taskers ever born. Many people will have at least four tabs open as a time (Google, Facebook, Youtube, Pandora, Wikipedia, Gmail, etc.). People are constantly jumping from one web page to the next, clicking on links and opening new tabs and browsers. The method through which knowledge is gained has transitioned from deep reading to fast skimming. Every time a web page is opened the viewer is bombarded with information, almost every page has advertisements or links to additional information lining its sides. The Internet has made mountains of information available to almost anyone. It is fast and easy to find information and facts. Essentially the Internet has become the fast food of knowledge. It is convenient but it skips the element of effort.

Despite the short amount of time since the introduction of the smartphone, the rapid development of the software and technology has had a tremendous effect on the everyday life of society today. The concept of communicating through a telephone was developed in the 1870s. Devices to transmit speech electrically were designed by Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell, but Bell's design was patented first. On March 10, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell achieved one of his greatest successes in the making of the telephone. This brought upon a major change in communication and gave leeway to the improvement of the telephone in the days to come (Bellis, 2013b).
The Internet also, gives teachers the ability to teach a class online so that their students will be able to stay on task when they are not able to come to class. The online class idea has also made it possible for the average person to get his or her degree without having to go to a college campus physically. In total, the Internet has not only increased the amount of learning possibilities in the classroom, but it has created infinite amounts of learning opportunities for students and teachers. CLASSROOM Because of the Internet, it is possible for schools to have access to books without having them on the shelves of school libraries.
I remember a classmate when I was in high school because he never talked to anybody. He spent most of his time on his cell phone or using his tablet, and he did not do well in school. He was different than my other classmates and I believe that he never felt comfortable in the classroom. Everybody knows that cell phones have changed peoples’ life dramatically. Cell phones are one of the most revolutionary advances in the last decades because they make things simpler and easier but cell phones have a strong impact on teenagers. Teenagers are in one of the most important phase in their lives because they are exploring the world and developing their capacities. I believe that cell phones have more negative than positives effects on teenagers for many reasons.
