The History of the Internet
When one thinks of the internet, one may think of America Online, Yahoo!, or of Sandra Bullock being caught up in an espionage conspiracy. For me, it is a means of communication. A way to talk to some of my friends who live off in distant places such as Los Angeles, New Jersey, and the Philippines. The U.S. Defense Department originally
had this intent in mind when they connected a computer network with various other radio and satellite networks.[1 Krol] They wanted a means of communicating within the U.S. military that could withstand partial outages, such a bomb attacks, and still function.[2 Krol]
In this paper I will cover the internet’s experimental beginnings, the commercialization of this technology in the present, and what may be the future of the internet.
Before I begin, allow me to define what is the internet, who governs it, and what is the financial impact of this technology. The internet is made up of all computer networks that use IP protocol, which operate to form a seamless network for their collective users.[3 Krol] This means that federal, commercial, and institutional networks all compose parts of the internet. This network is connected to each other by either telephone wires, cable lines, or satellite signals. These wires, lines, or signals are then pipelined from server computer to server computer until your host server transmits the electronic information into your computer. The governing body of the internet is the Internet Society (ISOC).[4 Krol] The Internet Society purpose, according to Ed Krol, is to “promote global information exchange through Internet technology”. Another governing body is the Internet Architecture Board (IAB).[5 Krol]

Without this technology, a growing economic presence in the United States wouldn’t have been created. The internet is definitely does have an impact on the history of the United States.

... that ended the revolution with an American victory. The English finally surrendered after many years of fighting. Britain had significant military disadvantages. Since they had to cross a sea, their information and resources were delayed. Since the colonies had not been unified under one central government before the war there wasn’t a central area of any kind of significance. This ensemble of factors caused the British to fail.
The Great Shark debate – to cull or not to cull, has been at the forefront of the minds of conservationists, as well as the general population for many decades now. The opinions of everyone are divided, according to their personal experiences, and views on what is right and wrong for the environment.
One of the governments main reasons for culling the sharks is because they are coming in too close to the shores and becoming a potential threat to swimmers. But why is this happening? This is due to a change in shark feeding habits, but because they are eating more human of course not! Rather because us humans are over fishing and eliminating the fish/food sources of which sharks normally feed on. This is forcing sharks to come in closer to find food. Us as humans have forced sharks to come in closer and are now killing sharks because of our a...
The first major example of luck in the American Revolution is what happened after the Battle of Long Island. When the British had decided to take over New York and use it as a headquarters George Washington had decided that he was going to kick the British out so the city doesn’t fall into enemy hands, and the result of this is the Battle of Long Island. The battle ended and the americans lost due to being outnumbered, not getting the high-ground, and trying to fight both the British army and navy, and while so far this all seems very unlucky for the americans it is after the defeat where the major lucky break comes in. After the Americans were defeated they couldn’t really retreat because they couldn’t march and this would of been the prime time for the British to finish off the Americans, except the British were to busy laughing at the Americans as they tried to retreat a...

Despite the low expectations for the American colonies, they amazed the world as they rose to the occasion by taking advantage of their military assets, even those they did not know they had. For instance, George Washington proved to be a valuable asset for the American colonies. Washington was already held in high esteem prior to the Revolution for his few, but impactful, military accomplishments prior to the Revolution and for his praise-worthy character. (Schweikart and Allen 74) Because of his lack of experience commanding, he learned to excel in familiarizing himself with new tactics and responsibilities very quickly. (Mount Vernon) He used strategy to make up for what he lacked in supplies or force. In 1776, he valiantly crossed the Delaware river for a successful surprise attack on Trenton and days later successfully took Princeton, two undertakings which contributed significantly to the American victory along with Washington defeating Cornwallis at Yorktown in 1...
In the 19th century, soccer started to come to life in America. Some colleges started to play the game in the 1820s, with the first contest taking place at Harvard in 1827. Then, a huge invention took place in 1855. That year, the Charles Goodyear soccer ball was invented. Charles Goodyear created these soccer balls with vulcanized rubber. 12 years later in 1867, soccer took two huge steps. The first standardized soccer rules were published that year. Now, graduates from different schools could play together and had proper rules to follow when playing a game. But later that year, another just as, if not mor...
A Military funeral in the United States of America is an honoring or burial rite given by the United States Military for a Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Airman who died in battle, a veteran, or other prominent military figures. The rendering of Military Funeral Honors is a way to show the Nation’s deep gratitude to those who, in time of war or peace, have faithfully defended our country. There are numerous types of Military funerals which embrace and omit certain components depending on the prominence of the deceased. For most, standard honors will be the funeral that is chosen for them. Whether the service member served 35 years, or a short term contract, His or Her honors will be performed with the utmost respect. Performing the ceremonial duties falls upon a class of highly trained and highly motivated detachment.
Sharks have lived on Earth for more than 400 million years. There are between 450 and 500 known species of sharks. Sharks are one of the most important species that wander the Earth. They are in charge of keeping the marine ecosystem healthy. Being one of the biggest predators in the sea, sharks have an essential role keeping the food chain organized; making sure species below them don’t exceed in number, or the opposite. By removing the weak and sick of a species, sharks make sure diseases don’t spread, and only the healthy fish are able to reproduce. Around 70% of the oxygen required by humans to survive is provided by the oceans. Plankton, microscopic aquatic organisms that float near the surface of the water, is the primary source of food for many animals in the ocean. Plankton also absorbs carbon dioxide and turns it into oxygen. Now, you may wonder, what does plankton have to do with sharks? It’s actually all linked. If sharks were wiped from the surface of Earth, the growth of the smaller species of fish below them in the food chain will no longer be regulated. These fish would grow in number uncontrollably and eat more of the next species than there is to eat, and so on,
Games similar to soccer were played in China as early as 400 BC. In about 200 AD the Romans played a game in which two teams tried to score by advancing a ball across a line on the field. The Romans passed the ball to one another but they never kicked it. London children in about 1100 played a form of soccer in the streets. During the 1800’s the people of England played a game similar to soccer. Many rules changed and each person interpreted the rules differently. In 1848 a group of school representatives met at Trinity College in Cambridge and drew up the first of soccer rules. In 1863 English soccer clubs founded the Football Association. By the late 1800’s soccer began to spread to the rest of the world. The Canadian Soccer Association was established in 1912 while the United States Soccer Federation was set up in 1913.
The American Revolution was a turning point in American history. However, this revolution would not have been plausible without outside aid. The patriots did not have the capability to win the war on their own, but with aid from the French, excellent leadership, and a home field advantage they were able to succeed.
Sharks and humans have interacted with each other for many centuries. Great stories have come from these interactions; in these stories, sharks are usually portrayed as the antagonist. However, in all of actuality, humans are the antagonists. We are lead to believe that sharks are highly dangerous, but humans pose more of a threat to sharks than sharks do to humans. In the asian culture, sharks are finned to make shark fin soup and then they are thrown back into the ocean, alive, finless, and helpless. Shark finning should be banned globally, it is a cruel practice that is causing a decline in the shark population as well as a negative impact to their ecosystem. Recently, there have been organizations and laws that are trying to prevent this
Soccer is currently one of the most popular sports in the world, and in a few years soccer might be the top sport in the United States, which can create confusions between soccer and football since America is so diverse. One can say that America has a lot of people from all over the world, who where not used to soccer being called football. However, football should be called “handball” because this sport only plays with hands, and all the moves and actions are done by hands only. I have never heard the word soccer as a sport before I came to USA, and I have never found a good reason why it’s called soccer instead of football because soccer is played by feet, so that would make perfect sense. Although, the names are different, but soccer and football have some similarities in common, which is the fact that the ball is kicked only when there is a free
The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. The Internet enables communication and transmission of data between computers at different locations. The Internet is a computer application that connects tens of thousands of interconnected computer networks that include 1.7 million host computers around the world. The basis of connecting all these computers together is by the use of ordinary telephone wires. Users are then directly joined to other computer users at there own will for a small connection fee per month. The connection conveniently includes unlimited access to over a million web sites twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. There are many reasons why the Internet is important these reasons include: The net adapts to damage and error, data travels at 2/3 the speed of light on copper and fiber, the internet provides the same functionality to everyone, the net is the fastest growing technology ever, the net promotes freedom of speech, the net is digital, and can correct errors. Connecting to the Internet cost the taxpayer little or nothing, since each node was independent, and had to handle its own financing and its own technical requirements.
